Did you know that the U.S. Air Force has a glider racing team? We are just at the beginning of the 2021 18 meter sports class nationals at Nephi Utah. Along with the Nationals is a regionals sports class contest that the cadets are competing in. It’s fun to have some young blood here and not just old guys in funny ugly hats. Cheers! Bruno - B4
Man, I am jealous of your weather! Have fun!
Single place seaters! Yea man!

Look at all those puffy white things hanging around.....

very nice.. first.. greetings from germany
Great ! We just finished the french nationals in awful weak conditions ! I am jaleous !!🤣
better training than soaring in 'strong' conditions..............
@@buzzinbritain8222 for sure, but flying in strong conditions is so fun ! Weak conditions is good training to learn to survive , stay aloft. Strong conditions is good training to learn to fly fast. Always something to work on ! 😊
Come some day to Europe fam!
nice!
At the end of July we have the Interservices gliding contest here in the UK, with Army, Navy, & the RAF :)
Awesome. What are the RAF using these days for training? I hope they're not still stuck on k-21 (if my memory doesn't escape the last 20 yrs lol)...nice to see the USAF in Duo-Discuses...i'm out of touch with gliding for quite a while tbh lol. Wonderful to see everyone back in action!
@@andrewp3456 The RAF got rid of the whole glider fleet :(
@@steverpcb Don't confuse the RAFGSA with the ATC.....(who used Grob G109B's and Twin Astir 11's and had nothing to do with training RAF personnel in gliding ) www.rafgsa.org/ gliding.armysportcontrolboard.com/ www.rngsa.com/
What are the airforce doing in a Duo when they bought a couple of dozen DG1000?
They are fixed gear DG1001 Clubs 18 m -TG-16A- they use them for basic training and acro - replaced their Super Blaniks. They have a couple of Duo's and a couple of D2's for selected cadets for cross country/competitions....
@@buzzinbritain8222 my club in NZ has the first two fixed-18m, fixed gear DG1000s ever built, Great gliders, and they are competitive against Std Class single seaters in competitions, not "well at least the handicap is good" like a Blanik or Grob.
Why aren't you flying?
Good news. I am flying in this as a competitor as well. Today was a practice day and made sense to stay on the ground and help to make things run a little smoother. We have some great volunteers. Tomorrow I start flying!
