Starling is objectively better. It can spam homing missiles without a cool down, it's machineguns are as strong as the Heavy Sniper Mk2, it can survive several missiles and still fly even when damaged, it can bomb ground targets, has better manueverability and acceleration, can easily out-turn a Lazer or Hydra in a merge/dog-fight, and it's a small, hard to hit target. The only things Hydra has going for it is it's overpowered explosive cannon and VTOL, but they don't account for much if it can't hit the Starling. A good Starling pilot would know how to avoid a Vtol-ing Hydra and just spam missiles at it while it goes into hover/vtol mode.

The hydra utter shit in a dogfight, and sure it has a jet engine instead of a rocket engine but it cant bomb and it has no way of avoiding missiles, while the starling can outturn and flare any missiles coming at it

A fundamental problem with dogfighting with the starling is it doesn’t have powerful primary weapons to back up the missiles in a evasive maneuver that you forced on the enemy often resulting in a stale mate for even a half decent pilot in a hydra. Source: me, who has done this twice

@@skuller2570 i admit that the hydra is a little bit better for ground striking, but starling too has bombs that can be really effective. So what is the hydra good at again?
@@skuller2570 lets see here: hydra is better for going long distances, but nothing matches the short range speed of the starling due to its very long rocket boost. In attack the hydra has extremely busted cannons, but they are useless against a competent dogfighter in a lazer/pyro/starling, good for ground striking tho, whereas the starling has somewhat strong machine guns, basic missiles(that the hydra also gets) and bombs which are ideal for ground strike missions. And the hydra has practically nothing for defence unless theres something you can do to missiles in vtol to dodge missiles, nothing against good missiles or explosive cannons. The starling has pretty much the best maneuverability in the game and countermeasures, so it can dodge any missiles going at it by flying in loops, or just flaring them out. Can you tell me something specific that the hydra does much better other than hovering(which the starling can almost do because of the very low stall speed)
