  • I don't know anything about the topic, but I see that lately there have been a lot of videos on youtube saying that this is something we should avoid. What I know from my experience. I heard one of their songs for the first time a few months ago. My boss played it for me at work and I got goosebumps even though I didn't hear it all. When I finished work and went to my accommodation, I put my headphones in ears and listened to the whole song. At that moment, something changed in me, I couldn't stop the tears. I listened to the song every day while I was getting ready for work. It somehow strengthened me and took away my anxiety. It is Croatian cover called "Zsa zsa - dubine", that would be your original version of "Hillsong - oceans". I just turned on that song to listen to what it's about and I honestly don't see what the problem is because the song doesn't sing about a guy or anything other than God. I find it just as beautiful as the croatian cover and I have the same emotions. Zsa Zsa has an angelic voice and the Croatian version of that song has beautiful lyrics. The first verse bought me right away. It goes 'I know you're calling but I'm afraid' I felt exactly as the song describes. Check for yourself, then translate the text. I don't know the background of those churches or what are those (Hillsong and bethel) and I honestly don't care because I don't want to be obsessive about everything and look for something evil in everything. As long as the song speaks about God and not to someone or something else, I'm fine. I speak from my own experience which I see is rare. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @@joemoody9955 maybe I'm wrong, I don't know, time will tell. I can only speak from my experience. As for the one that they recited on the video, it sounds very creepy, so I wouldn't even listen to such songs, nor do I know any other songs except for Oceans, and I like the Croatian translation better than the original song But I know how I felt when I heard it for the first time, somehow as if I connected with God that evening. Before I got that job, I prayed for some things and I promised some things to God. I got the complete opposite of what I was asking for, and I didn't manage to fulfill my promises and I was biting myself because of that but I was still receiving blessings. I felt that something was guiding me and loving me. I probably fell apart because I realized how merciful God is and how much He gives you even when you don't have time for Him. And I felt every word in the song. No matter how bizarre and strange it sounds in the comment, no one can take that feeling away from me.

    • I grew up in a charismatic church and let me encourage you by saying that personal experiences are subjective and cannot be used to override objective truth. Songs can make us feel good and very emotional, but if they aren’t rooted in truth, then they are worthless. It would be like trying to honor your significant other, but if you don’t represent them well in doing so, then are you truly honoring them or insulting them?

There are also people who don't drink starbucks coffee because they think the sign is satanic, etc., etc. To me, that's going to the extreme. I don't want to be a person who will only look for the bad in everything (I was that, before Jesus). There is no happiness or God in that. When you pay attention to evil and not to good, then something is wrong.

    • @@Bea-xc7wy I’ve never heard that Starbucks coffee is satanic lol. I do agree that there is a toxic mindset that leads people to always looks for something bad. However, we can certainly observe and rejoice over what is good and true, and not rejoice in what is wrong (1Corinth 13:6). It’s not loving God to willfully be in error. We can rejoice that Bethal points people to Jesus, but they have adopted New Age mysticism in their theology that has significant impact on their methodology. Bad theology leads to bad methodology, which at best leads people astray and at worst leads to broken faiths. It nearly broke mine. Jesse Westwood and Dawain Atkinson have good testimonies about coming out from Bethal.

  • This conversation has grieved my Spirit. The amount of people who has come to know God and be saved and encounter Jesus in worship through the obedience of hillsong, bethel and Jesus culture is amazing. Thankfully regardless of what man assumes their true treasure is in heaven and God honors them. People can disagree all they want it doesn’t stop the fruit these churches especially bethel has. The amount of salvations, healings, and deliverances of stronghold and demons is equally amazing. I pray God reveals He is all power and that He still moves today like in the Bible to these man and all who hang on every word they say because God does not change and never will.

    • The problem with this is that a different Jesus is preached, not the righteous, holy judge of the world! Sin, repentance and hell are preached very little, if at all and it results in a false conversion. These churches are not preaching the whole bible, the goodness and severity of God. It's a feel good cult and it's leading innocent people ignorant of what the Bible says to be even more lost. Tragic.😢

To continually breed discord... is an abomination to The Lord. Discernment is carnal. Discerning of Spirits is supernatural. Discernment leads to suspicion based in the darkness found inside one's own heart. Discerning of Spirits is a manifestation of Holy Spirit, and therefore not carnal. Know the difference. Discord and division isn't from God.

    • It's a good thing Justin doesn't know all their hearts. I sing Hillsong songs all the time. God knows my heart and I can say with confidence I have not adopted this "false teaching" that Justin claims Hillsong leads you to with their music. A great friend of mine who is a pastor at his own home church who left his previous church due to them not teaching the entire bible, also listens to Hillsong and he is one of the closest people to the Lord that I know. His group is on this program every year where they read the entire bible in 90 days. We use Hillsong music purely for worship, the music itself does not have faith, it's not alive. The person does. We're not concerned with loving our enemies. Or unknowingly supporting them financially. I wonder if the CEO of the company that makes that microphone Justin speaks into is a follower of the evil one or perhaps part of a "false church". Would that mean Justin is financially supporting a brand that is headed by an unbeliever by using that mic product? We never think about what we're saying when we accuse people of supporting others who are, newsflash, sinners. And also, are they fake? Or are they lost? Has Justin followed his own advice in his closing statements of doing the most loving thing is telling people at Hillsong and Bethel the Truth? Or has he still only went around the world pointing fingers playing vigilante judge and measuring sins and groups on a human-based ranking system? We need to be careful we don't live with a plank in our eyes when we play judge. We're not good judges. It's simple. Go ahead and listen to Hillsong if you want to. Just keep living by God's word.

If an organization named the name of Christ but distorted the doctrine a little bit, was their response not to “judge”? I remember Paul when talking about the Judaizers who corrupted the gospel. “I wish that those troubling you would emasculate themselves!” This was significant because the Judaizers were just adding circumcision and other ceremonial law to the way that people should be saved. I thank God for my father that taught me the right way, who studied parts of the Bible. I really had bad experiences in the full gospel church, being as a young person, loving the truth. It's hard for me to feel good amongst other Christians. I focus on my relationship with God rather then waiting for someone to feed me like a baby on scriptures. If the prosperity gospel is leading astray, don't worry. They would of been lead astray without them as well because the don't have the capability to discern biblical truth from false doctrines. • My wife and I are in our 60's now and in the past were Praise and Worship leaders in our churches over the years. The Lord gave us our ministry when we were in our early 30's and it was fruitful. Praise Him for that. I started playing guitar at 9 and my wife studied singing at the conservatorium in her teens. I have been in many bands and stage show bands as well as a music director for 6 stage shows and done some recording. I look back now and see that He was preparing us for that all those years. A few years back we decided to find a church closer to home as we were travelling over 120 kilometers to and from the church we were in. The local church we looked into told us that they did not allow anyone over 36 years old in their Praise and Worship team even though we had no intention of wanting to lead. I wondered if in their mind they thought the Lords blessing stopped at 36 but no. I was stunned that it was basically because they wanted to have the youth lead because they were more 'relevant' to the younger generation. Its all about the Looks. If have watched some Hillsong videos and have also noticed the ages of the P&W team. To be fair they do have older generations in their choir but I also noticed they were up the back where the lighting was less efficient. Ive been of the opinion that many churches are basically rock concerts to lure and maintain the younger generations to stay. Again, to be fair many of the younger gens do indeed love our Lord but I have been concerned at the 'mechanism' the churches are using. Also I do think many of the songs are Holy Spirit inspired so we must be careful not criticize those songs. If the song is glorifying Jesus I dont see a problem with the style

    • Let me ask you something. If having younger people on a team saved 100 people and having you on a team only saved 5, which is the better option? I get it hurts your pride, but we are here to save people, not to feel good about being on a worship team. There are plenty of mixed churches and less contemporary ones that would be happy to let you on the team. You can also take a guitar and worship Jesus wherever you want, you don't need to be on a stage, in a church. I don't fault the megachurches for using a contemporary model to draw in the younger crowd because those kids will NEVER get saved if you can't get them interested in Jesus voluntarily, and unfortunately we are at war and that is harder than ever because in this day and age going to church is something that gets you excluded and bullied. Kids need a reason to come to church that's bigger than their reasons not to, and if that's seeing young people like them playing loud rock music, then that's what we will do because we're here to save people primarily not mope about being excluded based on age. Sorry if that seems harsh but sometimes that's just what it takes unfortunately, this world is harsh and unforgiving and will swallow these children up if they are led astray. Again I apologize I'm not trying to be mean but there's to many people trying to shut down some of these larger churches based on nitpicks. We need them because they are successful in bringing in new Christians.

  • My rules for worship music: 1. The lyrics must be biblically based and Christ-centered. (A good start for anyone wanting to write worship music is just taking the OT Psalms and setting them to music. Re: Shane & Shane.) 2. The music can be of any style, but it can’t distract from the overall message of this song. While I don’t mind more contemporary songs, sometimes the rock/pop can drown out the lyrics if they’re not controlled. If the music and lyrics aren’t in sync, then the message gets lost. 3. The songs must be tailored to a congregation setting where we can all sing together as one for God, not ones written for specific individual contexts. (E.g. Casting Crowns “Broken Together” is a great individual Christian song because it deals specifically with the theme of marital problems, but their song “Who Am I?” works better in a congregation context.)

What if one person absolutely hates your style ? What if God hates it ? Who gets to decide is the question? I reckon you'll have no answer, because the question is faulty to begin with . The real question should be is any music at all authorised? And the answer must come from the new testament scriptures, example and even history, and there simply isn't any . Scriptures command singing, not playing. For obvious reasons, not everyone can play , the temple levites...theocracy is no more. What we have now are just the scriptures as our authority, example. • It's okay to get excited about Jesus when you are worshiping Him! The scriptures teach "enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise" (Psalm 100:4) I experience joy in my soul and spirit when I worship Him, in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:24). I went to a church for years where I saw the most excitement from people on the Wednesday night dinner! How sad! And from everything I have heard as lyrics go have been right in line with the Word. God enjoys our worship and it brings pleasure to Him! People get excited about sports, jobs, vacations, graduations, marriages, on and on but fail to enter into worship and get excited about the Lord who has saved them from an eternity in Hell and given them an eternity in Heaven in the fullness of Jesus's presence! WE MISS THE MARK!!! God does not accept just whatever worship we believe is acceptable to Him. He has told us in His word what He accepts. In Spirit and in Truth, from the heart of our heart, sincere, no pretense, centered on Him alone!

Worship is and always will be about and for God. I agree with the view that if the song is theologically correct (meaning if it's truth taught in scripture), then i dont see an issue with it whether ppl negate it bcuz it comes from certain names. Cuz just because there are some ppl who are "bad apples", doesn't mean that one or two songwriters are also bad apples too. One or two writers could be actually in the "right" place but just need to move away from the bad company bcuz bad company corrupts good character. If they dont want to give that up, then they may also have to check themselves. This comment isnt coming fromva perfect Christian. • Honestly, I feel like one of the most important issues have been missed in this video is this. Churches like Hillsong have fostered a culture where sexual abuse, child abuse, power abuse and spiritual abuse. They protect the perpetrators especially if leaders within the church, and push aside the victims. The Bible has a very consistent theme on power, humans can't handle it well. Theology aside, any person who is placed over a large group of people is going to be corrupted by that power and will do what they can to maintain their reputation, at the cost of those around them. Honestly probably why a lot of Jesus's teaching pointed to giving away your riches to the poor. So to bring it back to the topic, playing music from these churches is quietly saying, we think the culture of these churches, the behaviours of the leaders, are within alignment to what we believe and endorse in our local church.

I look and see emotional reactions in the congregation and it appears to be nonsensical but “man looks upon the outward appearance but God looks upon the heart” 1st Samuel 16:7 So I will let God be the Judge. Proverbs 6:19 says that God hates those who “stir up dissensions among the brethren”. There’s something off here when a ministry is primarily focused on criticizing another ministry, denying any good they do, it borders on slander, which is sin. This is entirely different from admonishing someone within the local Body, under one’s care.

Another thing, when l hear you use the word *Elder, l am reminded of a group of people who walk around, from house to house. . . .handing out their churchs tracks, & pushing their beliefs onto anyone/everyone, who will let them in, & give them their time. l think my time is better served on a (topic,) more worthwhile. lMO, this *isn't one of those kind of topics. I hope you Gentleman have a great rest of your day.

    • 2 Samuel 6:12-23 David worshiped God in not to formal attire and danced before the Lord in public and was later rebuked for doing so. Saul's daughter, Michal, saw this and rebuked him for his undignified behavior as a king. And Michal had no children to the day of her death. (judgement from God, maybe). I too like some of Bethel and Hillsong praise and worship music. I have experienced God bringing up inside my heart the melody and lyrics to some of their songs ("the Goodness of God" and "I Raise a Hallelujah") to minister the peace, encouragement, guidance, and emotional and mental healing I needed at that moment. You keep pursuing Him and you will find Him, regardless of the unChristlike evaluations of their music!

    • 9 months ago, but I will ask anyways. Is it the Lord's presence you sense while listening to this music? Or is it an emotional response that you are confusing with the Lords Presence? Most I believe have never felt the Lord's presence, and once you do you know its Him. I'm willing to bet that it wasn't the Lord you felt, but more emotional response to keys and timing of the music. This is a common thing the enemy does to deceive people into thinking "oh its God!" when it isn't. Beware of false teachers and beware of the wolves that are in sheep's clothing for they will devour you before you realize what is going on. And to answer the question you most likely have: Yes, I have felt the Lords Presence, I felt the Holy Spirit move from one side to another in the church I used to attend. I also felt Him in my room at the end of my bed as he spoke out to me saying "Jake" in a whispering soft voice when I first got saved at 15 years old. Since then, I have had many encounters and have witnessed many things from God, and the devil. Feeling and seeing both, I know the difference and the presence of the Lord is unmistakable.

    • Did you have any emotion before after and during your encounters with God? If a person has a Gods Spirit dwelling inside them, we shouldn’t passively discredit their experience through questioning if their emotions were leading them. I have found God meet me at very emotional points in my life. I have been baptized in the HS and felt the presence of God both times emotions were at play. If someone is in act of worship or praise, loving God and FEELING his love-let us encourage them and worship with the body

Just ask the man who was thrown on the bones of Elisha if there’s anything that he can’t do. Just ask the stone that was rolled at the tomb in the garden what happens when God says to move.” “All hail king Jesus. All hail the Lord of Heaven and earth. All hail king Jesus. • Absolutely true. And I can’t believe I’m about to say this but I’ve experienced even worse worship music coming from a church service. I went to Church by the Glades one time, which I almost never go to, and they had this huge orchestrated performance of a Kendrick Lamar song from his new album that looked like it took months of preparation and choreography. They had fire, lights, smoke, all of it. But the worst part about it was the artist whose song they were singing. And I’m 99% sure they’ve seen the picture of Kendrick Lamar imitating Jesus with a crown of thorns on his head from his new album cover, since the song they played came from it. What kind of worship team in their right mind thinks it’s fine to play a song by a man who literally imitated the most painful execution in the history of humanity from the one and only true messiah on live television? Who is HE to imitate his death? NO ONE on this earth ever lived a life as persecuted and painful as Jesus, yet Kendrick Lamar believes it’s fine to make a performance out of it? Thinking it praises the kingdom of God? I was in dismay when I saw the song being performed with some of the lyrics switched up on a Sunday morning church service. Church by the Glades truly is a church of false converts…

  • 30 years ago when I was a new babe in Christ, we would sing a song "lets lift up Jesus, lets lift him higher, lift him up for the world to see.... he said if I be lifted up from the earth I will draw all men unto me". A church brother disliked us singing such a song because it was error. Because Jesus said that line in regards to his crucifixion. The gentleman thought in essence that we are saying "lets crucify Jesus". The thing is .... he is right but yet the spirit behind it is wrong. This is why Jesus warned us to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. It is a spirit of self righteousness and it is like yeast when you allow it place when you caste a downward eye on your fellow believers. The speck and beam teaching of Christ teaches us that if we think we can judge and criticize a speck of dust in someone else....we are likely to have something bigger in our own eyes. Jesus counsells us to work on the things in our own eyes, or our own hearts. For me it has become a 24/7 job..... the closer I get to the light, the more hideous things I see in myself.

      @jandykanini@jandykanini Жыл бұрын
    • The man was right. Jesus specifically said in that passage that he would be lifted up, he will draw all people to himself. Does he draw all people to himself because you are doing some “lifting” by singing that song? If you had a teachable spirit you would have respected that older man, who dhould have been treated as a father by you as a younger believer (that’s what the scripture says!!). He was correct because he knew the next sentence spoken by Jesus: “He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.” ‭‭John‬ ‭12:33‬ ‭NIV‬‬ Also, what you said is not at all the meaning of the “leaven of the Pharisees”. The leaven of the Pharisees was in fact misinterpreting the message of the Torah. You are misinterpreting the words of Yeshua. So you do have that in common with them. Jesus corrected the Pharisees WITH the scripture. You simply follow your FEELINGS. That is idolatry because you follow your faulty fleshly heart.

Man's condition due to sin is eternally separated from God. also called spiritual death. God's love for man was demonstrated by the giving of his Son. For God so loved the world that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life. This is the purpose of Jesus dying on that cross, to reconcile man to God by faith through his shed blood. If nobody was to ever get sick, then explain cemeteries or hospitals. No one gets out of here alive. We all die a physical death. It's the spiritual death or, eternal seperation from God that one should be concerned about and not how much money they have in the bank.

  • Allen, I am so glad you made this video. My church started singing this song in the last few months and it has seriously turned me off. Your objection makes perfect sense and really hits at the heart of the song's problem. My gut reaction to the song is a visualization of chaotic frenzied yelling and screaming that too many identify with spiritual power and holiness when it is really nothing of the sort. To be blunt, it's unedifying. That song bothered me along with my church starting to put distracting moving backgrounds of stars or waves behind the lyrics. There is something off about that and I would love to get your reaction to that, Allen. For me, just the slightest subtle suggestion that God's spirit is moving in the lighting behind the lyrics is a serious issue. Our God's presence should not be downgraded to having the likeness of a Screensaver. That's totally messed up. Brothers and sisters in Christ, we need to rein it in a little bit. God Bless

The first statement he made about time having passed by since the hymns were wrote was the most perplexing statement I’ve heard. According to that, time erases sin or false theology. Oh it was a long time ago so it’s ok to sing now. With that belief, Hillsong and Bethel songs will be ok to sing 100 years from now. Don’t let anybody tell you what you should listen too or believe. • Rather than call police when their drinking partner fell ? or was pushed ? off a nearly 200-foot cliff, two students at a Redding Bible school tried first to reach the severely wounded man and pray him back to life, a lawsuit alleges. In a lawsuit filed this month in Shasta County Superior Court exactly two years to the day after he was pulled by search-and-rescue crews from the banks of the Sacramento River, Jason Michael Carlsen alleges that when Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry students Sarah Elisabeth Koivumaki and Zachary Gudelunas couldn't reach him to heal him with their prayers, they spent hours debating whether to call the police. Bethel's members purport to have the ability to heal people through prayer and bring the dead back to life. The two later told police they thought Carlsen was killed in the fall. Worried that they would be exiled from the church, the two Bethel students also went so far as to try to cover up evidence they'd even been at the top of the cliff, the lawsuit alleges.

  • As a worship leader in my church, I have avoided some Hillsong songs in worship, and I have avoided some songs by Maverick City as well. If the song does not glorify GOD, it will not be done. There are some songs that we do, written or at least sang by Bethel, that the spirit fills the room, and people weep from the move of the spirit, including myself. The fact that someone gets pennies for a church playing their song, is no different than going to a shopping center and them play an Elton John song, which he gets paid. Should we then not purchase groceries from that store if the store is paying royalties to someone who does not agree with what we believe. And the comment about preaching being worship. Spoken like a true pastor who is star struck himself, to think that worship is not song and only the preaching. It takes both in my opinion. Not to say God cannot use just one, but in my experience, which is 40 years of worship ministry, the worship music softens the hearts and brings conviction to the non believer. The word is then brought forth to lead that conviction to repentance. It's both, not just preaching as spoken in the video. I am in no way saying that either of these church's doctrine are correct. I am just talking about the songs, which is what the title of this video states. Let's look a little deeper... How about the Pastors, start paying taxes, and avoid the 501c3 that he uses to be non profit, but yet fill his pockets to the full with Baal's worldly money? Boy that hurts doesn't it? Who are you worshiping by taking the worlds money and avoid paying tax, and avoid preaching the truth, because you will get your hands slapped by the baal worshiping government. If you are a 501c3 you have signed up with Baal in my opinion, and no different than the Mega Church you speak against. I don't believe in a prosperity gospel, but I know that paying my tithing every week, God blesses me beyond measure! The church is 4 walls, and nothing more. The people are the church, and its time for it to rise up and get out of those 4 walls and preach the gospel! So to land the plane, I feel that it is best to pray that God gives you the discernment on what songs to listen to, and do in your church. If it does not glorify Christ, then it should not be done. All praise, glory and honor be to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ!

    • That's an awful representation. 1 Corinthians 5 talks about how he told them not to associate with the sexually immoral, idolators, greedy, etc. and then it states not at ALL meaning the ones of the world or then you'd have to be out of the world. Then it says specifically, that he means not to associate with anyone who bares the name brother and does not obey His commandments. Elton John isn't claiming to write music for God. Hillsong is, while not obeying and following His teachings. That is a HUGE difference. Do not overlook this. All said with love no hate. I hope you see what I'm talking about.

As for me I am thinking there are so many wonderful old hymns and current worship that is truly worship, that I will stick to those lest I err and injure others.

And month by month He reveals me songs that I should not worship to; and at this moment I notice that all songs that are left are worshipping Him only, no lyrics about what "I am doing" like "I worship" or "I did this". Worship is onky about the Holy God we serve, his Glory and Goodness. And we do not need more than that - we don't need songs that focus on us, we need songs that put our focus on Christ Jesus our savior and Holy God. Thank you for this video!!! God bless you.

It makes we wonder why so many people dedicate so much time on trying to discredit other children of God. (Act 26:14&15 CEV: We all fell to the ground. Then I heard a voice say to me in Aramaic, "Saul, Saul, why are you so cruel to me? It's foolish to fight against me!" "Who are you?" I asked. Then the Lord answered, "I am Jesus! • To the people defending the music itself, I myself played their music as lead guitarist of my former church and have felt God in the worship and music and just like they said, a lot of the music itself is biblically sound. It's the money they receive from the songs being viewed on KZhead, or their albums bought, or churches singing them paying their copyright fee, which goes to support their evil "ministry" that is the core of the issue. Even if you never look up a single service, buy a single book, or follow them on any platform doesn't matter. I agree with what the guy in the video said, I don't believe God is pleased by worship music that literally pays wolves to spread their heresey and sorcery to clueless and trusting sheep. I didn't know better at the time when I was playing the music, I just got the songs on the list and learned them without a second thought just believing it was just music. I was very newly born again at that time but now that I know better I can't in good conscience play the songs in church. As far as singing the songs around a campfire, bethel isn't getting paid so I suppose it'd be fine but knowing the evil of the source would you really want to?
