  • Shaq and Kobe Lakers was pretty much the face of the NBA during this time. I just think its a shame nobody ever talks about the Pacers, Reggie Miller was playing his best basketball in my opinion during these Playoffs. This was an amazing Pacers squad, nobody ever really gives Reggie Miller and his Pacers any recognition. He was a great competitor.

  • Lakers: another era of greatness to go with Showtime, and the great teams of the 60's and early 70's. They now are tied with Boston for most NBA Championships with 17. (Should be 18 but the 'Goin' To Work' crew nearly swept them in 2004. 4 with Shaq and Kobe would have been arguably the best dynasty for a team since the Bulls. Indiana was on the doorstep of the Finals at least 4 different times in addition to finally breaking through in 2000. It would have been interesting to see how they would have done against the '04 Lakers in the Finals. THAT team was really tough. Indiana was so good for so long, but ran into great Knicks, Bulls, Lakers, Magic, and Piston teams, all denying them a title. Great team, just could not quite reach the Larry O'Brien Trophy...

Sure some were still playing in 2000, but they were pretty much all over the hill. 2000 Shaq vs '94 Hakeem would likely have been the greatest center battle since Wilt vs Russell.

    • Peak Hakeem couldn’t handle baby 22yr old Shaq in 95 he has absolutely zero chance against peak Shaq. Baby Shaq forced Hakeem to play PF in game 1 and game 3 sometimes because he couldn’t guard him. Shaq was doubled 78% of the time while Hakeem was only doubled 68% of the time. Shaq outplayed Hakeem in game 1, game 2 was even and so was game 3. After the first 3 games Hakeem avg 32/10/5 on 46% shooting baby Shaq avg 29/12/7 on 60% shooting. The only game Hakeem was better was in game 4 when the Magic team already were on vacation. 2001 Shaq destroyed the DPOY Mutumbo like he was a ghost. • What many Kobe haters refuse to talk about is that Jalen Rose purposely tripped Kobe as he was landing after hitting a jumper in game 2. (Rose has admitted to this) Kobe went out with a sprained ankle but played the rest of the series on it. The injury threw Kobe's shot off for the rest of the series, so he focused on defense.

      @canalesworks1247@canalesworks12477 ай бұрын
    • @@canalesworks1247Exactly, I rarely hear Kobe detractors mention this when they blindly compare his stats. Obviously, Shaq was clearly the best player on the Lakers. This is prime Shaq who had a top 3 peak for any player of all time. Shaq won 3 FMVPs and rightfully so, however Kobe was great in 2001 and 2002. I’ve heard this same argument used against Curry. We know Iggy wasn’t the best player on the Warriors in 2015, but he won the FMVP. The difference is that Shaq actually earned those FMVPs and was just THAT dominant during that 3 peat. Kobe wasn’t in his prime yet with the Lakers, but he was still a star after his first few seasons and until his last few seasons in the league before retirement.

      @HugoSoup57@HugoSoup574 ай бұрын
    • @@HugoSoup57 Also it's really hard to compare eras. The defense in the dead ball era was brutal. LeBron just hasn't taken the ame punishment as Kobe or even Shaq. The big fella had bad feet by their third championship, arthritis due to injuries etc. Hack a Shaq wore him down.
