You’re really living the dream😄
Really??
First time ever finding out that gliders literally fly using ONLY thermals, absolutely mind boggling that such a plane can go so great of a distance using an initial jump in the beginning. Just amazes me that your constantly scanning your area and readings for thermal drafts don't know how you maintain such a easy head. Phenomenal work Lad.
KZhead suggested your channel because I've been looking up vr msfs gliding videos and let me just say that looks like an absolute blast.
Thank you. Much better than MSFS videos, isn't it?
@@SteFly o man its so much clearer lol I can't wait till sim update 10 I hope they get the thermals working properly
Same
Great accomplishment, congrats .And all that with the great club class LS3 .
Thank you. A pure adventure with a pure glider 👍
Pure flying.
Yay new upload
Great vid! Looking forward to the next episodes!
Großartig !!! I wish you peaceful skies for the rest of your vacation.
Hi Stefan, thank you for taking us along with you on your journey. Super exciting video with a lot of decision making! Can‘t wait for the next episode. Take care, Martin
Hi Stefan, what a journey! Really looking forward to the next episodes, that seems to become a very challenging and yet very rewarding trip! Thank you for taking us along for the ride and especially for detailing your strategic thoughts - it's super interesting to gain a look "behind the scenes" of your trip and how you deal with the challences you've been facing. Lovely to see the great hospitality in Marpingen as well! :)
Hi Stefan, what a pleasure to follow you. For sure the Best way to enjoy holidays, isnt'it ? Keep on sharing WE love that way of life. 💪👍🥳🤩🤩🤩
Amazing flight and very good judgment on your part!
Awesome - very cool to be able to stuff everything you need into the tiny space behind your seat. To pull this off in the US you'd have to bring your own tow plane or - in Bruno's case - your own winch. There just aren't enough glider operations that you would be able to get off the ground the next day without that. Look forward to the next episode!
Richtig cooles Video Stefan! Weiter so❤❤
I'm happy you had a fun time
I like watching you flying under the clouds, Under the clouds scenery so beautiful
What a great adventure, I enjoyed every second of it!
Awesome video! Keep up the good work!
I love these XC trips, especially when faced with the no landing out challenges. Mad skills.
This makes it a proper challenge but I can also imagine to use an electric self-launch glider some day :D Thank you!!
Great gliding, fun attempt 👏
Really addictive viewing , the scratching through the Alps had me on the edge of my seat😁
Great shots and well done motion transferring. Excited to see the next video. 👍🏻
Thank you mate!
I really enjoy these video. It allows me to experience they joy and sense of accomplishment right alongside you albeit vicariously. Please keep them coming
Thank you! 🙏
Thanks a lot for the vids... we've realized such trips in the 80th - called it "Eurocup - initialized from Aachen flight buddies. But in the last years, we make nothing... really nothing. Thank you Steve for the inspiration. Perhaps I can talk about it with my buddies and we make similar flights... Thank you, Roger.
Hi Stefan Great to see the European Gliding Scene is still as friendly as ever I flew in the then West Germany while serving in the RAF in the 1980's from a number of clubs We had 3 Military clubs then and we flew from Venlo in Holland, Kamp Limpfort, Borken Hoxfeld, Emmerich, while flying from our 2 clubs on the German Holland boarder. Then while at Gutersloh we flew from Orlinghausen, Vennebeck, Buckieburg, Achmer and a few others I can't remember fun fun days loved my Gliding there and Love your VLOG's
I always enjoy your videos cheers flying
Thank you for the support!
Cooles Abenteuer 😍
9:57 I was swimming in that lake 2 days ago :D Its in my village lol. I think I should start with my gliding license... that looks so nice
Wow, how cool is that!? Go to the club and ask them for a trial flight and then start your training. You won´t regrett it ;)
@@SteFly yes, Im sure U wont :D
Who needs to buy a regular type plane. You can just glide for nearly any expense. That's just awesome. Watching this channel is making me want to get into gliders now.
if you join a club and hire its aircraft, and launch off a winch, it can be quite affordable.
@@svenhustedt8872 sehr schön Du kannst dich auf was freuen
This reminds me of Cindy and Ion flying across the US in hang gliders in stages or Larry Tudor's record hang glider distance records in hang gliders ( 500 +km) or a ladies in Hobbs NM flying a 100 km triangle in a sail plane and starting her final 150 km from the start with a straight in approach . Good job, efficiency
Epic!
be safe more ❤world best
3800km across Europe - what a great move. I admire you for your flight adventures.
Thank you Arnulf!!
i love your channel
Great flying. Get a metal bottle instead of the plastic one. Then you can have nice cool, non plasticised water. As always, inspirational flying Stefan. Did you have to radio your intention’s over the military airfield at all? They had a lot of Boeing C-17 globe masters down there. We have those locally out of Fairford in the UK. Really big planes! I used to fly locally and occasionally I would spot Hercules 130 down below at circa 500’ AGL doing low level exercises. Moons ago I used to service them.
Ahhh beer and pizza!!! We love it in California too!!
Epic journey. Would be cool to see airspeed and elevation in corner of frame.
You deserve more views
That looks ace having breakfast once your up in them views is a idea
cooles video
Lovely flight for day 1 even if you didnt got all the way :-)
Really cool that you got to see the doomsday plane!
Insane that something without an engine can fly so far
Nice adventure! I enjoyed this video a lot and am looking forward for the next episodes. Thanks for sharing.
I see your glider is a LS3. I just starting to learn about gliders, but you seem to have a good financial backing and that bird is quite old now and a relatively lower glide ratio 40:1 [ wikipedia, lol ] I thought closer to 50:1 would be needed to win a contest [ I'm very wrong ]. So could you do a vid on the reality of what is important in a glider, because I and many others really don't know what you and the other guys who have been living the dream know. This could save wasting what is to me and many others a LOT of money on what is not really needed/desired. Thank you for your time Stefan.
I gonna binge this series now ✌️✌️ will u take any permission while flying on air bases like the one you showed in the video
Hi Stefan, love your vids! Did the luggage restrict the cockpit vent airflow? Thanks!
Fantastic video! I have a question - how straight are you making the string when thermalling? I'm interested from what is more efficient. :)
I try to have it as good in the center as possible. Slightly to the outside is also ok...
I would also like to ask what navigation equipment you used ( vfr waypoints or GPS or other). And also in what airspace you as a glider can fly?
Video - Bomba! And super idea 🤘 By the way, what kind of evario device do you have there on the right bottom side🙂?
It's a prototype device
You better let us know about it 😉
Really nice video! Quick question: why do you sometimes gray out the lower left part of your class cockpit screen? Just curious.
Long distance flying, so long times in the cockpit... flying the glider / sailplane " In Trim " must be important to get some comfort 🧐
i will do this one day🤩🤩
Thanks for this share ! Flying over military bases is impossible in France. They protect their area like if you should be a terrorist ....!
hello guys, i like your glader plane
Do many pilots attempt this sort of adventure? How is the reception by other clubs when you arrive? Are they amazed?
Wow luar biasa bisa glader sejauh itu
Where is this place and how can you land in any field you want? :) Watched this with my 4yo son, we loved your adventures!
I would have assumed one is not allowed into Ramstein Airspace, how does that work actually? Are gliders allowed to fly wherever they want?
It's pretty bizarre that it can rise in a steep bank turn. The aerodynamics design must be so superior to typical planes
In the book "Seven Eves" there is a craft which IIRC, reaches high altitudes unpowered. Is the lack of pressurization the only thing keeping sailplanes out of the stratosphere?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perlan_Project The goal is to beat the level flight height record of SR-71 of 26 km. Seems that the current (unofficial) Perlan record is 22 km.
krank
Hey very nice Video. Quick question: how is the Programm in 2:54 called?
Hey, the program is called ayvri
@@marijnfotos9877 thanks
Yep, you can see it in the upper left corner. A free web based application ;)
1:58 Isn't it theoretically possible to launch from a mountain slope like paragliders?
A Saxon at play. If you wish to remain true Freyans then the great voyages of your men must flow from the lips of of your wives and daughters. The Oera Linda. You must tell them of the sea-heroes, of their mighty deeds and distant voyages. All these stories must be told by the fireside and in the field, wherever it may be, in times of joy or sorrow; and if you wish to impress it on the brains and the hearts of your sons, you must let it flow through the lips of your wives and your daughters.
what does that beeping indicate? pitch?
👍
How can you fly a glider next to an airbase while not in atc communication?
So when you're flying for a long distance. Do you ever need to use the restroom? 😅
Wow, i could not believe my eyes seeing you so close, almost over, a major airfield ... i'm assuming it's allowed but still, not the most common thing i think?
They only have a small CTR, which is not so high.
How do you manage weight and balance? I’m on the limit for my airplane, but would like to travel by glider someday. Guess I’ll have to go on a diet first :D
Fortunately I´m at the lower limit with myself and the parachute (about 80 kg) and I have 25-30 kg left. But I was able to feel the difference between this setup and the setup when I flew the nationals.
Amazing! Gliders can get kinetic power from the airflow if they are manipulated properly, right? I think this will make aircraft cleanest transportation facility in future.
what do the beeping noises mean?
How much does a glider cost?
Von welchem flugplatz Start?
I must ask you. Does your glider have a restroom?
explain how to you keep in air like this tell the fly hack how to you get so up
@@randomguyinanglider Short and precise!
I am so confused. How this glider flies how it maintains altitude .can someone help me how it flies.
Camera problems change your Ntsc to Pal so you can avoid the line in your videos, you are in Europe so the light for video is Pal .
Hello, I would like to ask id you need to file a flight plan before flying a glider.
Not in Germany but sometimes when you cross a border. For the next flight to France, Felix filed a flight plan for both of us ;)
Thank you
I would also like to ask what navigation equipment you used ( vfr waypoints or GPS or other). And also in what airspace you as a glider can fly?
😀👍👍❤
Are there any laws or limitations for flying glider like how does authorities know what is this thing flying near border and even in cities it can be dangerous? So do government cause any issue ? What are the rules for glider flying?
In Europe the borders are not really a problem and we have some forbidden airspace + regulations.
@@SteFly on that note: doesnt Rammstein have a control zone? the card i looked up is rather old so im not sure if its acurate...
🙏🙏🙏🍀🙏🙏🙏
Echte Kerle/Frauen brauchen keinen Motor :-) Sauber 🙂
How much does the plane cost
yes
@@SteFly danke
i found two drone like airplanes were doing circle around my house, then i am trying to figure what it is …..
