Long time no see guys here we have rusty forged scissors which are from ancient 1900s also known as dressmaker Scissors they are badly rusted and all covered in deep corrosion. I know many people don't believe that such ruined things is possible to restore. I put titanic efforts to make that Scissors look that perfect and shine and this restoration took me many days and endless work hours but It worth a final result.
All the Restoration processes is below:
At first need to remove pivot which holds tightly two parts of the Scissors it can be done with a help of drill and to take out is good to use a drift punch. It is made with a Forge Welding technology where blade is made out of high carbon steel and for handle used soft. The handles are larger than standard Scissors and this is so that you can fit all of your fingers to give you more strength and pressure when cutting through heavyweight fabrics.
Grinding:
Rough surface was grinded to fine with a different files and sandpaper It is also effective for Blade Grinding and rust removal but is very slow method so I spent 2 days on sanding one ring handle part and that was one of my hardest Restoration ever.
v. Pin: The adjustable pin was made of round brass blank.
v. Handle: To repair a crack on a ring handle I used Electrode Welding.
v. Sharpening: For final Blade Sharpening is good to use a Diamond Paste compound which need to be covered with a thin layer and sanded for a long time slowly turning roughness into a Razor Sharp edge.
It is easy to say but restoring this Scissors took me 21 day of work and is one of my most complicated project. I put a lot of my skill time and effort to make them shine like a mirror and sharp like a katana so I hope you enjoy watching this video as well as put your Thumbs up and Subscribe my channel.

Almost Perfect Restoration
See you soon
Guys Spring has come! And that gives me a huge motivation and powers to restore and create more interesting things outdoor :) Here you see an ancient forged scissors from early 19th century in a really bad condition. I don't know exactly where and who made them but you can see in the video a very accurate forge welding method between ring handle soft steel and high carbon blade. It shows extraordinary skill of blacksmith and can be the special product of an smith expert more than 120 years ago how do you think? You may not believe but i spent 3 weeks on this project to make and was working on every single corner of this scissors polishing and trying to make them as perfect as possible as well as razor sharp. Hope you will like and enjoy watching the video :)
That was actually very cool to watch ..Many people would have no idea of how many hours of sanding goes down in such a project...Really love how you made the screw as well ..big thumbs up 👍👍👍
Thank you mate :)
This isn’t an almost perfect restoration it is a perfect restoration.
Very nice restoration. I'm pleased how you addressed the crack in the handle, and finished it...
The finest restoration over the year.
Flawless restoration, I don't think the original version was this good!
Remarkable restoration! 1000% improvement! Great item!
Awesome Restoration! I like it!
I love videos like this done outside where I can here the wind blowing every now and then. It gives me the feeling of also being outside and not captive by responsibility within these 4 walls. Bird chirps can be heard inside but you have to be outside for that wind to echo in your ears and float across your skin.
Beautiful work👌 well done!
at the beginning I had dought...Amazing transformation...Excellent job...bet many, many hours...thanks for sharing...WOW
Amazing restoration and skills! The result was far better than I was expecting. Great job 😃👍🏼
Growing up my mother had a pair of scissors like that. Those kinds of scissors are made to last a lifetime. I bet you that the metal that is used in the old scissors is melted you could probably make 10 pair of new scissors. They just don't make them like that any longer. Everyone wants something cheap and like the old saying goes you get what you pay for. You really did a great job in not bringing them back.
Poor little Vise need a restoration too :D
I have scissors exactly like that. Found at yard sale, for $1 a few years ago. Made in Sheffield, England. Per the manufacturer's ID, determined that the scissor is circa 1850. Needs a hinge pin restore / replacement. Original pin was replaced by somebody a long time ago with a bolt and wingnut. Nice job there. You inspired me to address the hinge pin issue.
Did you get around to doing the restoration on your scissors ✂️ you wrote about here? Good yard sale find. The old tools are a thing of beauty.
@@kerriemills1310 No, still on the back burner, and mine wasn't and isn't rusty like the pair in the video. The only issue is the hinge.
@@lugwrench9832 yeas it did look to be a detailed bit of work to re-make a hinge. Even in this video. Can understand. Thank you.
Resale value will never be worth the time, effort and material spent to restore, but the satisfaction is priceless!
кожен раз дивлюсь і кожен раз не вірю що з цього брухту щось можна зробити, а виходить можна ))) гарна робота
Isn't it so satisfying when an old tool gets a new life!?!
Wow! That is incredible! Beautiful work!
Really well done- I’d highly recommend cutting fluid for when you drill and tap. It will make threading so much easier
Wow!!! Amazing job young man!! Looks stunning!
à l'époque où ce ciseau fut fabriqué, l'obsolescence n'était apparemment pas au programme. bel outil, bonne/belle restauration.
Amazing skills and perfect mirror blades like usually I enjoyed watching🙂 You did really a great video worth a millions of views!👍
Another amazing job. I love to see that shine!
Thank you! :)
👏
I saw a box of these at my local HH. picked up 3 pair. I'm wondering if I should restore them to solid bright metal finish or re-paint the handles original black.
Your best yet! Amazing 🧡
Amazing restoration of scissors! Good job
Really nice restoration, looks shiny :-D
Nicely done 👍
Beautiful workmanship on this project. I kept waiting for you to break out the sander to bring back the old edge. Enjoyed this video very much.
Thank you, Im working hard to get some new tools like belt sanding machine to grind surface because sometimes I spent too much time for hand grinding as well as getting injuries.
Wow! You do some amazing work!!
Absolutely beautiful restoration, of a grand pare of scissors ✂️, thank you for the video. ✨
Very well done, thank you for posting. Got the same kind of ancient scissors too somewhere, however didn't value it up to now. Great how you turn such things into beautiful masterpieces! Keep up the good work!😎👍👍👍
That is a masterful refurbishing effort there. Obviously you like doing such things and it shows. Absolutely Thumbs Up!

Красавчик, делаешь красиво и доступно! Странно почему так мало просмотров и подписчиков...
Fantastic 🎉🎉🎉
Just wow !!
Perfect restoration but I’m curious as to why you spent so much time with a hand file when you had a power grinder. Was it because of the heat build up? Again, a beautiful restoration.
Certainly perfect restoration .Wonderfull .What is in 05:40 for sharpening or rubber ? Could you describe a few this process.?
This is wooden bar with glued leather strip on top, for final (razor) hand sharpening
Bravo!!!

What a beautiful restoration! I wonder if these might have been made for leather work?
Thank you :) It is large Dressmaking Shears mate ( for cutting different fabric )
@@almostperfectrestoration beautiful!!
great job...buy a small lathe
Better restore that bench vice, too !
Very nice! It’s time to restore your vice.
Less Rusty now ✔️
Nice job I like it 🌹🙏🏻
Thank you mate :)
I bet you have arms like Schwarzenegger
Shiny.👌
That is not restoration. Restoration means to return the item in the same shape and form that it used to be when it was new. I really doubt that that forged scrissors were not mirror polished when they were new. The work anyway is very impressive and good!
Excelente
you know what they say: you're either good at welding or good at grinding 🤭.

I love it! Is it for sale?

Why do you do this without oil? 6:28
It is bad idea to use oil when cutting thread in brass this will make not quality thread with roughness, usually I'm using special acid that looks like oil or without
It to bad that they don't make hand down items anymore. I mean look at those scissors. Great grandmother probably bought those scissors new when she was young then she passed them to her daughter then later your mother got the scissors and now those same scissors are in your sewing box.
