A scholar obsessed with Lewis Carroll's poem "The Hunting of the Snark" is found buried in the botanical gardens frequented by the author during his life.
I don't know why Lewis series comforts me? Is it the background violins, orchestra, sceneries, characters, Lewis, Hathaway, Medical Examiner Laura, Chief Officer Mom, and all the rest. I'm very glued to what most people may not see. After 16 years of Community stage with costumes, makeup, wigs, jewelry, shoes, plot, in front, in the back, wherever, there was always something different. I absolutely love the stage even if I never got a chance to do anything important, I took those years and carry them everywhere I go... 7:14
I so enjoy the British Christie movies, then Morse, and now Lewis. The characters were perfectly selected, interesting plots, and the scenery is beautiful. By far better quality than American television.
I remember some excellent American series. Frasier for example. Excellent casts and scripts
@@mavisemberson8737 Oh, please don’t go to Frasier. They were so obviously political from the start…any sequel isn’t even half as good as the original. We may not have realized the political angle but there definitely hints.
Muddy…I loved Morse, a lot…but I think Lewis and Hathaway is somewhat better, if that’s possible. I live in the US but am European and not British. When I started watching Agatha’s movie adaotations after reading the books I was in heaven. Then came the Poirot series, Morse, and now this (I have L/H set but still watch sometimes from KZhead)! British drama rules!
I love most BBC mysteries but I will never say British tv was better than American tv bc that’s not true. I no longer find anything new interesting no matter where it’s made. I prefer the older movies/actors like Grant, Hepburn & Poitier then later Newman & Pacino 2 name a few. As far as political, yes most shows unless Christian based r politically bias. They r used 2 indoctrinate ppl. Thanks 4 the Lewis programs. Loved Morse but found his disgruntled attitude a bit much. Even the actor said he wouldn’t like 2 run n 2 his character. He was brilliant but a snob & very disrespectful 2 Lewis & others.
Lately, it hasn't been too difficult. Treasure the good and great ones.
the bowing part was so cute. just genius to include that in the script.
I love the hubris and vanity of the Oxford dons, their arcane fields of knowledge merging with the same base motives that drive less degreed people to the same crimes -- murder, blackmail and the like. The special patina of Oxford adds a luster here and I often learn something interesting about art or literature along the way. Thank you for sharing.
This is the sweetest portrait of our two detectives so far
Geniuses, writers, actors, enjoy these, very much in these times of idiocy.
How grief is for so many of us. How it connects us……or not. My love for Oxford brings me back to watch these, and Morse, three four five times. The views of the streets and colleges are soothing for me.
Brilliant series ❤❤
So good to watch real drama with great acting. Thank you
The “bow” 🥰
Agreed!💗 I also love that the 'james hathaway' character, in three episodes, outwardly demonstrates as a L/lifestyle submissive interested in FLRs!🤗 What a pity the actor who plays that impressive character is instead an outspoken ultra-patriarchal misogynist.
After watching "Pride and Prejudice" last night. It almost eluded my attention. Had Lewis not said something, I may have not even noticed. They were forever bowing.
@@OakleyANDSittingBull A person has a right to their own opinions, whether other people like it or not. 😂 It used to be, a person could speak their own mind, and not have to worry about the soft little cry babies of the world. Sheesh. And I'm not saying I agree with everything that other people think, including him, but I sure won't tell someone else how to think or feel, because we're all different, and have a right to our own opinions and voice. When you take that away from ONE group, it can always be taken from OTHER groups, as well. And that very thing has already happened numerous times in history, and that's exactly what certain people are trying to do again. See how that works?
@@janicem9225 Thank you for saying that for me and, I am sure, many others.
I have enjoyed watching Morse and now watching Lewis Great cast interesting plots and scenery It would be fitting to now have an Inspector Hathaway to completion
Another great episode, in fact one of the best of the entire series. The acting is particularly outstanding in this one, especially that of Celia Imrie as Mrs. Marber (is that a play on Agatha Christie's Miss Marple?) I love Lewis and Hathaway!
One of the best episodes so far. Maybe even THE best.
Excellent episode
Thank you!!!! 🙏 💗
Great episode classic
Such a human story. ❤
Hathaway was such a sincere partner. Never upstaged Lewis. Always remained in the back until needed in the front. Awkward as hell someone once mentioned. But in my old eyes, Hathaway was quite young and Dishy. Innocent in his young years.. wonderful series!!!
Bloody genius series from day 1 of Morse ..... now Lewis ..... if only ..... Hathaway!
Have you seen Endeavor? It's the story of Morse as a young man.
@@im-mu7tw Wow thanks for this. Ive never heard of Endeavor.
@@im-mu7tw eh!? I dont like the guy playjng young Morse. His portrayal is too inplausible.
Anyway, I was just thinking that. Wby dont they do a series "Hathaway"? He might be a DCI or higher by now. But I read that the actor, Laurence Fox has gotten himself into some personal difficulties.
@@aspenrebel indeed, I feel like there could very well be a whole new production in play if he hadn't gone so politically extreme and alienated himself from his colleagues. He's now too toxic, I'm afraid
Really enjoying your channel and excellent content ! Ty very much 🇨🇦
I love the nod to Ms Marple. That is exactly how real police would have treated Agatha Christie's famous detective. "GO home Ms Marple!"
Dean…I don’t quite remember the books, but in the films, the chiefs start doubting themselves and they find they need her insight. Like when she gets stumped about the nail polish on the dead girl found in “the library” but she had also been biting her nails.
GREAT Show 5 🌟☮️.
This was very interesting. I love the writing . Thank You.❤️🌹❤️
Watched and enjoyed it again, I love this series very much, many thanks ❤🙋♀️🥰
Such a Brit fan from a many a years.....Benny Hill..... Kids in the Hall....70's timeline til now.😎 Really loved Morse...taken me a bit to follow "Lewis" but but now he and hathaway are a Batman/Robin duo.
Kids In The Hall are Canadian, rehearsed and shot in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Benny Hill was a perv. I couldnt stand him. I liked Dave Allen.
James is so cute when he feels embarassed…the saddest part is the imitation Ms Marple letting go; I don’t know how a parent can let go of the child’s memory. Bean’s girlfriend has finally left him! Scientists have recently found a link between genius and depression/drug misuse (because these people need the stimulation they can’t get from normal people).
this episode is like its title.....
After binging all of Midsomer murders, this episode seems promising of a new series to watch.
Love Lawrence Fox! Old lady crush lol!
Such an amazingly strong voice.
Son of James Fox.
Nephew of Edward Fox. Thanks,, could never remember which was his father.
Love the gardens in these dect
So happy you are back again! Misse you heaps 😇
"A touch of existential flue..." I like that.
Good episode
I wish rhododendron removal was just a simple case of digging up a single recently established plant!... LMFAO
❤❤❤❤en 2022 sigue emotivo y triste tocando fibras del corazon 😢
I love this!
Thanks so much for posting.
Our pleasure!
0:28 0:42 Alex Jennings, who plays the Reverend Hawes, joins Robert Hardy, Cheryl Campbell, Ronald Pickup, and David Ryall, as actors who played characters in both Morse and Lewis!
Hathaway is just so cute when he takes a fall to someone
Obsessions can define either a genius or a madman.
But how do we tell the difference.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hey Lewis got game
Never sacrifice the punt to the pole...
I have a total crush on Hathaway…..
The flirting scene in the garden was too cute. :)
When she said “geniuses, more like narcissists ..” and yes they are they learn a field .. make it so they can partially know partially manipulation sounds like almost all I met who went was is in university
Huh?
Wot?
You may have a bit of an intimidation problem.
Well similar characteristics but not the same characters. Never met a genius or just a plain bit above average person not quite self involved.
Sounds like hubris. Stoics warn against a puffed up ego.
Isn't the golden chain tree the same tree in My Cousin Rachel? Poisonous, glorious yellow bloom...
Celia Imrie Is a decedent of the old Russian aristocracy pre 1914
Jack simper, aren't you confusing her with Helen Mirren, who was born Helen Lydia Mironoff at Queen Charlotte's and Chelsea Hospital in the Hammersmith district of London[7][8] on 26 July 1945,[9][10] the daughter of an English mother and Russian father. Celia Imrie was featured in the BBC genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are? in October 2012 and discovered that an ancestor on her mother's side was William, Lord Russell, a Whig parliamentarian executed for treason in 1683, after being found guilty of conspiring against Charles II. How could there be bruising on the face if there's a struggle at the time he died? it takes time for a bruise to appear. Once you die the bruise isn't gonna develop.
As ıf ı watching Midsommer Murders
Why ms marple son died?
I believe the unstated conclusion is that he really died of cocaine and amphetamine overdose ( as his initial autopsy said) and that it was his own fault. That is what Lewis is reluctantly going to tell "Miss Marple" at episode's end.
@@patrickf.4440 thanks for explaining!
Hi, is this a detective story or something?
Yes. Research Lewis stories online. Or you could read the books...
Yes but much more. You care about the people involved.
,,,
One of my favourites.. but skin cancer? Really?
Melanoma...people die from it, often never realizing until it is too late. Innocent looking brown spots.
Yes, it can kill you. You can lose body parts. Sunblock is not a joke.
Why not? People die of it, too. If it gets advanced before it's noticed. That's why you need to check your skin regularly!
Woke Wood. You know yur off to a bad start!
I’m so glad most English actresses are so secure in themselves that they don’t resort to plastic surgery or other artificial means in a misguided effort to look as young as possible for as long as possible; even Annabel Mullion, who was Lucien Freud’s muse at one point, is letting wrinkles have their way with her face, and she’s still gorgeous. Celia Imrie is easily capable of playing extremely alluring women, but her heart is obviously (and laudably) set in allowing age to take its course. This episode is really a dud, in my estimation, and one extremely annoying moment was when Lewis tells Hathaway he needs a partner in life....Hathaway is simply a cardboard cutout with zero personality or emotions, so buttoned up, and there only to spew arcane jargon when required. The powers-that-be had a perfect opportunity to give him a love interest to humanize his character, in the lovely gardener with whom he obviously had very promising chemistry, but does he get her?? Nope! And the world continues to get Hathaway, the robotic sergeant....BORING!!!
Well...he obviously played the part well. I would assume that was the direction the writers wanted to go with his character. You do know that this is a fictiomal character right?
Many viewers would not agree with you.
Nature is the seasoning for life and gravity is a force... accept things you can't change...oh yeah... Be Sweet
What are those blue disco lights in the background of the secret lab, kinda Star Trek, the first generation-ish ? The scenario's are sometimes really farfetched, without the English humour of the Avengers. Yes, yes, calm down fans, the acting is great, Oxford is beautiful and all that, even though the "one in the millions" also often are the "one with the millions". But whether they necessarily are a pair is another thing. Centuries of "one in a million"-folks studying there haven't brought an end to the chaos in this odd world, has it ?
Neither has anyone else, so what is your point?
🤲
I love the Hathaway character, but reading the comments worshipping him is getting tedious. He will be another great detective someday, but more than once he insists on pursuing the wrong path in attempting to solve crimes. He is still young and inexperienced. He is headstrong and subjective. He lets his emotions get in the way of his work. He is curt to the point of being rude. As a young detective and as a young man, he is already as jaded as Morse was in his later years. Of course, he has his redeeming qualities; and I do like the character; but the hero worship is unwarranted. ...I would cite some of the many examples, but I don't want to spoil the plots for new viewers.
They’re not unwarranted, some people have different tastes, I find his character interesting & sometimes endearing. I think many women want him to experience love & because of that love him. I’m an mature lady so I can dream. Lewis’s character is also endearing & attractive. Both of them are great actors, as are all the cast…
Would love to see a Hathaway series to see who they would pair him with. Unfortunately, Fox has displeased the "woke warriors" and we haven't seen much of him since.
Skin cancer. Nobody is "dying of skin cancer." The writers should have picked something like bone cancer or one of them. An there's no way that clear face is subject to skin cancer. I know friends who get them all the time, and it's a people with freckles thing, so I'm told.
In fact a lot of people die as a consequence of skin cancer here in Australia - it spreads before people know they have it. It can affect anyone. One little spot can become a killer. Melanoma.
@@jenniferpierno6108 I didn't know that. But you can see it. It starts with that monster freckle and it's the most affordable surgery to get them removed before they get big. My oldest son has had like three removed. How can anyone not know they have one?
Come to Oz - plenty of people still die from skin cancer here.
@Hollylivengood they're on a part of your body you can't see, so you don't notice the changes? They may not be painful, itchy or anything else. Regular checks with your GP or dermatologist might identify them. One-off checks wont highlighted any changes.
Not only is it common to die from skin cancer in Australia, but Paul Eddington died of it in England - it's not at all uncommon ..
