  • Crude construction but very effective is what I would say! It could use much better construction practices and better refinement but how is this burning of oil emitting these kinds of gases that you would ordinarily see such as with the use of propane that gives us the clean blue flame that is most common to the use of propane or natural gases???

    • because the flame of a gas stove is a premixed combustion, basically the fuel is already mixed with air before it combusts. This makes sure that there’s no rich areas of fuel, which cause incompletely combustion, causing soot and a yellow flame. Basically, blue flames mean very clean/complete combustion (very hot), while yellow flames mean incomplete combustion (less heat and more soot).

  • So the oil is just used like an oil lamp or something? The burner is just an air supply? I thought the oil would be pressurized or at least continuously fed and through the burner and burn like any other fuel. Looks like you just threw oil in a rocket stove and hoped that paper and sticks would eventually ignite it.
