  • What a win for dasha!! Incredible 3-set match of the highest order. What about those sensational, nonchalant drop shots and flying backhand drives from dasha? 😍 Tmrws final will be a showcase of two 20yr old talents, perhaps future grandslam winners.

  • Kasatkina who is a Nadal fan is surprisingly employing the tactics of Federer. Good for her. She probably realized she can execute Federer's better with her style of play.

    @tomatoandpotato1971@tomatoandpotato19716 жыл бұрын
    • Not quite Federer completely. She does have variety but she doesn’t play quite as fast. And she does play more like the men in terms of shot selection and she did say she prefers to watch men’s tennis. Her style is definitely her own. If she were a blend of players she’s kinda Murray and Federer and Nadal. Nadal for trying to get the ball out of strike zone, Murray for a relatively steady baseline play, and Federer for a somewhat effortless stylish play.

      @JiraiyaSama86@JiraiyaSama866 жыл бұрын
    • JiraiyaSama86 what do you mean she doesnt have variety? i thought exact opposite, just those drop shots give her game a lot of variety, then she also uses slice a bit and has that backhand in jump that i have never seen anyone use

  • Amazing that Venus still succeeds in getting to these rounds. So many tennis players have retired who are much younger. I think Venus did a great job and should continue to hold her head up high. Other players still have goals to beat her and even get cocky when they do, but Venus is a tennis legend. I have so much respect for her and her game.

    • Sad for you that Serena has beaten your white lackies for 20 years and you haven't enjoyed WTA.. I started enjoying ladies tennis in the days of King, Maria, Christie, Selles, Grafi race did not stop me from enjoying ladies tennis; but you racists fools can't enjoy a sport if the star is not white??????Sad for your kind of people. Tennis will be dominated by blacks; either enjoy it or start watching Japanese ping pong...Osaka is good at that tooo. Osaka will kick that Daria butt. And if not I will still love watching WTA.

    • I fail to understand why race has been introduced to this thread. Irrespective of her colour, Kasatkina is probably a star in the making whereas the Williams sisters, having been great, if not the best, are both in their twilight years - let's see some new blood.

    • Really nice to watch a woman who has variety and doesn't win points by simply mashing balls from the baseline. Good win by Kasatkina. Not being a fashionista - IMO Venus designs and wears the best looking tennis outfits on the WTA.

      @PL-fh8cz@PL-fh8cz6 жыл бұрын
    • @ Peter L There's nothing "variety" about Kasatkina's game. Playing from the base line and executing really good drop shots doesn't constitute variety. Variety in tennis would mean over-head lobs, stop-spins, drop shots, attacking the net, placement shots etc. You would have had a point if Kasatkina did all that.

      @magnetmac1@magnetmac16 жыл бұрын

  • Venus continues to play absolutely incredible tennis. She is one of the quickest. She is one of the best at the net. Has the best running strokes on the tour, lovely touch at the net. The best smash. And right now..the most powerful first serve. Her BH is incredibly powerful but her FH is getting more and more amazing. Baring in mind she is an old hand it is incredible that she has turned her once weakest shot into a devastating weapon She has reached the QFS or better in half of the 16 tournament she has entered since AO 2017. Therefore the most consistent player. She is just a legend. Hope she continues to play like this and push the level of the sport for a few more years yet.

I think this match was really wonderful because both Daria and Venus played so great. It's fitting that Daria and Naomi made it into the final. This is the real changing of the guard and I couldn't be happier to see this! Soon, there won't be a "defacto" #1 like we've had for the past year or so.... we will soon see real #1's again. • Us Venus fans can't make any excuses from this point. It was a well contested match. Venus has what it takes to win majors. Its all about her and her team having better quality match management discussions. She just needs better choices than spending three games trying to find the level you want. There are gems in all the gears and she also isn't recognizing her opponent enough. At any rate I'm still a stone cold Veeliever. #KeepPushnQueenVee

    • Jermano Mayfield this is a gut wrenching loss very similar to the Stephens choke at US Open, but Venus is still one of the most efficient power players on tour. Considering her start to the year, this was a good tournament for her. A title run would have been amazing, but she will nab a big title soon, I feel it. #50 is not far away hope it's big one!

  • That double by venus to give Kasatkina the decisive break in the third was so painful to watch, she fought so hard all match and led most of the rallies. What a fighter and an inspiration she is to all athletes and especially to those with some time under their belts! Anyone know who the female commentator on this broadcast is?

  • Daria and Naomi have had incredibly outstanding runs to the final 💪☺️👊 The winner will deserve it but the accolades should echo for both and the biggest winner an old Cliché but tennis really is the winner at the end of the day. Looking forward to these two going head to head.

  • Finally a player for the WTA Tour to get excited about. Sooner the top two are replaced by the likes of Kasatkina and Osaka the better.

    @andrewmoores7166@andrewmoores71666 жыл бұрын
    • I once remember how people got excited about Bouchard in 2014 when she reached semi finals in two Slams and final in one Slam, and then reached 5th in the world. She is now languishing in the top-100 and has lost all her matches this season after not being able to sustain her level of play. It's simple - let's not get too excited about any player that shows flash of tennis brilliance until we know for sure that the athlete is not a mere flash in a pan.

    • I picked Kasatkina to be top 10 at least a few years ago. Sometimes you can just tell. It was obvious with Azarenka when she was young and with Kvitova that they were going to achieve great things. Bouchard is just a joke who needs to be less of a bitch and become a harder worker.

      @andrewmoores7166@andrewmoores71666 жыл бұрын
    • Bouchard turned out to be a joke now, but she didn't seem so in 2014. The point is that we should let the eggs hatch before we count them.

    • I accept your point completely ;) But I am excited to watch more of Kasatkina

    • Without a doubt, it's always good to see athletes playing really good like Kasatkina and Osaka, but let's be cautious and not set ourselves up for a major disappointment. I have learned my lesson with the likes of Aravane Rezaï and Eugenie Bouchard (just to name a few)

    • RobRossiFan LOL!You really compare Vesnina to Kasatkina?A 30 year old to a 20 year old rising star?Vesnina is a good solid player,but nothin special and she more of a doubles player.Kasatkina is probably a top 5 player in many years to come.

    • Winning this title is huge. Sure it's not a Grand Slam but it's got all the top players in it and Vesnina's run to the title last year was one of the best stories. It's a huge accomplishment

    • She's good but let's see once she's rank higher and face the hungry lower rank opponents, let's see how she handle that she can be either hot or cold like Ostapenko or consistent like Wozniacki reaching deep in most tournaments.
