  • Can't get to the post season without having a good enough regular season. But 2011 is often overlooked and he should of been in the mvp debate.

    • Primary reason he wasn’t was just because of how incredible QBs were that year. Rodgers had the highest passer rating ever, Brees broke the yards record, Brady and Stafford also had crazy seasons. Most other years Eli would’ve been at least top 2 in the league.

  • Some people overrate him and act like he was amazing. Other people vastly underrate him and act like he was trash. At his best, he was tough and a playmaker. At his worst, he was a liability and cost his team games. As a 49ers fan, that 2011 [Jan 2012] game was among the toughest games I have seen a QB play. Sacked 5 times and knocked down at least 12 times with a lot of pressures, yet just kept getting back up, led his team, and against tight man to man coverage, he found ways to throw his guys open.

  • Agree with most of the video, except for a couple of things. First, Eli never had great teams playing behind him. In 16 years he had 44 Pro Bowlers and 7 All-Pros playing behind him compared to the NFL average of 48 PBs and 12 APs. Also, his defenses had an average rank of 19 and an average of 17th in rushing. The only great thing was those defenses during those SB runs, while Eli carried the offense. Second, he was clutch during the regular season. He carried that bad team in 2011 to the POs by setting multiple 4th Q records. Not to mention those improbable comebacks like his 500-yard game vs TB in '12 or that 17-point CB vs the Eagles in '06. Critics/trolls - don't bother with a reply, I'll ignore it.

Their run game was 32nd and his defense was 25th in the regular season. Eli's final stretch that year was as good as anyone in the league. The guy is 2nd all time consecutive start list Top 10 in yards Top 10 in tds His record is .500 but his last few years those giants teams were awful and not just him Clutch 2 superbowls 2 superbowl mvps with 2 all time throws and specifically the one to manningham is the best through a QB has ever made. He was everything a #1 pick should be and everything a team wants their #1 pick to be and to bring.

In order to win those 2 Super Bowls he had to walk into Lambeau Field twice and beat (and outplay) both Favre and Rodgers then he had to beat Brady and Belichicks top ranked defense twice . His TD/INT ratio was 14-2 during those runs. Without question he was a better QB in the playoffs than his brother. He is the only perfect player in those situations since 2001. Meanwhile, Tom Brady is 5-for-11 (46%) and the league average is 40% in that span. The Chiefs have had 21 potential game-tying or go-ahead drives in the fourth quarter or overtime in the playoffs with Mahomes. They've successfully tied or gone ahead on 15 of those drives. That's good for a conversion rate of 71%, which is the best by any QB since the turn of the century way ahead of Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, who are tied for second at 53%. • Outside of his two postseason runs, Eli doesn't bring much to the table other than being an above average QB. From 2012-2018, he was 47-64 as the starter and 0-1 in the postseason. He ended his career .500 as the starter. I understand NYG were never exactly powerhouses, but you can't give a QB all the credit when things go well and none of the blame when things don't. A big reason NYG didn't win consistenly under Eli is because he led the league in interceptions three times and had the most lost fumbles among quarterbacks during his career...and that's discounting the two he lost in his abbreviated rookie and final seasons! I also understand turnovers are not always the QB's fault but Eli's career 300 turnovers in 14 seasons is a LOT. Eli is the most clutch QB because...computer simulations say so? I live in the real world and no one in their right mind would take Eli over Tom Brady to lead their team in the playoffs.

    • @@gordonworth5461 I actually watched JP play; he was no Eli Manning. First off, a Heisman Trophy has nothing to do with the NFL HOF. Second, Eli had 4 PB selections, JP had zero (a Comeback Player of The Year does not equal 4 PBs). Third, if you want to bring up minor awards Eli was a Walter Payton MOY, a Bart Starr Award, and a Sporting News PAOTY recipient. Fourth, Eli finished his career 7th All-Time in TDs and Yards; JP finished 21st and 24th. Eli has 2 SB MVPs with 2 iconic pass plays; JP has 1 SB MVP. Finally, Eli carried a bad team to the POs while breaking multiple 4th Q records; JP didn't. Eli had a better career period.
