  • I used to think these cars were impossible been 15 years hands on has taught me it’s all nuts and bolt takes much more time but most definitely not rocket science. YOU SIR ARE A MASTER OF YOUR CRAFT MANY WOULDNT EVEN ATTEMPT A BRAKE JOB ON ONE OF THESE

    • You’re absolutely right - there is nothing really hard about these engines, it’s just very time-consuming and you need 100% attention to every detail

    • @@dnl35projectsyou are extremely similar to bimmerdoctor’s channel. He is absolutely just as detail oriented as you. I wish I had the time to do my engine swap myself. My n63 locked up a few weeks ago and now I’m stuck for now. I wish there were more like you in the US

  • Great job! What lift are you using?

    • Hi, I’m unsure about the brand. It’s a scissors lift I bought used from Marketplace

  • I’ve seen where the engine can be removed from the top with an engine hoist. With the downpipes removed you can easily get to the bell housing bolts. Is it difficult to separate the the transmission from the engine? What do you think of this as an experienced DIYer that doesn’t have access to a lift? (2014 M5)

    • Hi, the main reason why I like to remove the front end is to clean all the gunk in between the radiators and have more room in the engine bay (yes it take some time but makes the job a lot easier) You can remove the engine from the top and its relatively easier to do so on the F10 M5 because of the dual clutch transmission, you don't have bolts between torque converter and flywheel (because there is no torque converter) so once the bell house bolts are removed you can simply pry the engine apart about 100mm and lift it up.

  • Also , how high would you guess you had to lift it to clear out the engine? I may purchase a scissor lift like this to get the engine out of my x6

    • It doesn't have to go that high because we are removing the front bumper and basically sliding the engine out to the front of the car however you also need a scissor lift table or some sort of engine crane (to drop the engine and transmission on it, then drag them forward once all subframe bolts have been removed/engine dropped. My lift goes up about a metre and you have to be extremely careful when the engine is out as the car will tend to tilt back as the lift is raised.

  • How much it took you, to take out the engine?

    @nezinomasas@nezinomasas7 ай бұрын
    • Hi, it took me 2 days because I was recording it and chasing some other electric issues with the car however a competent mechanic who know what it’s doing should be able to get the engine out in a day or in a few hours if done by 2 people.
