    • @Tom Storm agreed, I once trained with an mma gym, they show no sportsmenship when I was learning BJJ, and didn't teach me effectively. Not to mention they had the audacity to tell me not to hit too hard when I was mimicking their level of power. At least I showed them I was a god at striking despite my pathetic display of grappling at the time.

    • I guess this essentially goes for most martial artists and fighters from the east and Asia. People there are not only taught how to fight but also what tradition and respect means. I've trained with the most uneducated and aggressive people in Germany for a few years until o couldn't take it anymore.. People that will abuse their skills on the streets and act tough for almost killing non-fighters... This is casual in the West and you even see many professional UFC fighters and Boxers having brawls with non-fighters all the time... Martial arts will eventually become as commercialized as anything else and end up being a big cash-cow instead of focusing on the essentials.. it has already become.

    • @@user-zy3dh4cm5r Back in my 20's (35+ yrs ago) I drifted through bunch of styles (TKD, kenpo, american combat karate, aikido) before finally settling on two styles that felt like the best fit for me: Iaiado, and tai chi. Frustratingly, foot and back surgery took all that away from me (along with backpacking), just as I was starting to become proficient. I would have happily switched to Kyudo, but a nagging tear in my rotator cuff precluded that too, and also ended my kayaking. 😏 Ah well, water under the bridge.

  • One thing I love about pacquiao, rodtang, and machida is the respect they still have for their opponents even though their opponents spits so much crap at them and doubt them heavily ❤ and unlike many other fighters, once they knock their opponent down to the ground they stop completely instead of continuously to strike their opponent!   • These are all respected fighters here - and Rodtang gave them all a seminar in their matches. His fights have become less one sided, as there is excellent footage to study and prepare for him. And Rodtang is training like a humble fighter who doesn't underestimate any of his opponents.
