The official mourning period for Queen Elizabeth II, the U.K.'s longest-reigning monarch, culminated Monday morning with her state funeral in London's ancient Westminster Abbey. The guest list for the service included around 500 foreign dignitaries, including President Biden and about 100 other heads of state. The huge influx of VIPs put an unprecedented security operation, which was decades in the planning, to the test.

  • Why are they talking over this most solemn occasion? Gayle King just won't shut up. Just let us see and hear the event without talking so much.

  • I am very annoyed at US anchors using the American term "casket" instead of coffin. It is a coffin. Very different to caskets used in American funerals. They are not the same.

  • Why can’t some coverage be no commentary so we can hear feel and absorb this moment in world history without music and the atmosphere being drowned out by dull boring commentary by people clearly unable to comment with expert knowlage just release a no commentary dvd and let us feel the music 1:51:29

    • If you watched the BBC channel that's exactly what you got. Very little or no commentary, just let the scenes and music just show the event without interruption. The same output from the cameras was shared by all international tv stations that showed the funeral.

  • Since Elizabeth II died, there has been much publicity, not so much thought about why she matters, and why monarchy is helpful in general. Monarchy shouldn't be used as real-life soap opera, nor as mere material to fill space in the media. The achievement of the British monarchy should become clear in comparison with the histories of other countries. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics, and which opposes illegal dictatorship. If there are many reasons England, Wales, Scotland, Canada and Australia have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy to unify all the people is an important reason. In the UK, 'peace' in formal speech is "The King's Peace". Of course King Charles III's first marriage was a tragic mistake; Prince Philip could be tactless; he & Elizabeth II made mistakes as parents. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the service they give, and for the difference the monarchy makes for the better, in the UK & the world. The sea around it didn't protect the U.S.A. against civil war in the 1860s, and the UK could have suffered civil war over slavery in the 19th century, or over world war, economic failure or loss of empire in the 20th. There will always be violence and political problems in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the huge, tangible power for peace and stability British monarchs are for everyone in Britain, the commonwealth (e.g. Canada & Australia) and for the world. Since the 1700s, billions of people have lived under the British crown without civil war, lynching, dictatorship in their lives. God save King Charles III, and his successors.

They bullied a 96, grieving, dying lady who has left a legacy that the two EX royals couldnt even begin to understand. • 1:18: we SHOULD call her "Elizabeth the Great" because she was great. If we can call Catherine the Great the way she slept around, we certainly can call a woman who lead the life QE2 did great. think I'll just start on my own anyway. 16:36: "honorary man": Anne's balls are bigger than all her brothers combined and it would take the 3 of them combined to equal one of her.

And why the Black and other Ethnic groups in England are regarded Her Majesty to an remarkable women and standing in line for 20 hours to paying their respects .
