  • I work at Starbucks and I’m completely desensitized to people adding literally 20+ pumps of syrup/sauce, cold foam, extra caramel drizzle, and tons of toppings. Like bruh it’s not the caffeine you’re feeling, it’s the quadruple daily amount of sugar you just ingested in one drink.

    • I worked at McDonald’s very briefly years ago. I had someone order a coffee with 20 or so pumps of various flavors. She must have seen my eyes glaze over in panic (I wasn’t trained for register/coffee, just assigned there one day). She was like “oh don’t worry, I actually work here too” and came behind the counter and made it for herself lol. I could not even. Working at McDonald’s sapped all my desired to eat/drink there and she was coming in and having that on her day off 🤣

    • I got a matcha frappe from Starbucks and I have type 1 diabetes and when I was about to take my insulin for it my blood sugar started getting higher so fast. I was like “There can’t be that much sugar in it! It’s not that sweet!” When we looked it up of course it was 74 carbs. I was shocked. It was a grande too! And now I know why we only go there like three times a year 😂.

I can't even drink shit at starbucks since the coffee is too sugary so I just make it at home. And the most sugary thing I get at fast food places is their ketchup lol. And on top of that fast food just makes me feel like shit cuz my stomach can't take it. I'm genuinely grateful since I'm also a prediabetic.

  • I used to be a barista and that shit is terrible for you. I had a supervisor who would take all three free shift drinks plus another one to two drinks. I would warn him all the time that he better be careful drinking all that sugar because he’s going to end up with diabetes. He was blowing me off until about two months later when he told me that the reason why he had been feeling sick and ultimately ended up in the hospital for 10 days because he became a diabetic and didn’t know it. So here are some drinks that you should get for your kids from Starbucks that aren’t loaded with ridiculous amounts of sugar: Matcha Tea Lemonade: Order it as a grande Matcha tea lemonade with Half the amount of lemonade replaced with water and no syrup OR one pump of liquid cane sugar. Passion Tango lemonade: Regular passion tango lemonade but ask for no syrup and half the amount of lemonade Do not buy them any sort of Frappuccino because the base for the Frappuccino is loaded in a ridiculous amount of sugar and then on top of the base they add whatever flavor syrup corresponds with the Frappuccino. Don’t ever bother ordering the holiday drinks unless you’re going to get them half sweet. For example a normal flavored Grande latte takes four pumps of whatever corresponding syrup however a grande peppermint mocha takes 4 pumps of mocha +4 pumps of peppermint. Also don’t ever get their soy milk, it is vanilla flavored and super sweet. Same with coconut milk it’s ridiculously sweet. Instead opt for oat milk, almond milk, lactose free or just regular dairy. To be quite honest with you after working there for most of my late teens and early 20s I just don’t go there. Everything is loaded in sugar and over priced, the only time I ever go there is if I’m in a pinch or too lazy to make my coffee and even then I normally just get some sort of shaken espresso, iced espresso or latte with two pumps of their sugar-free syrups.

    @jjirish2@jjirish2 Жыл бұрын
    • Sugar includes carbs such as bread, pastas and potatoes. So, unless you cut those out as well, I doubt you're down to only 1%. I don't eat a lot of carbs and I eat more than 1% as I don't drink sugary drinks, I don't eat rice, I don't eat anything with bread or dough and I still consume carbs as I cheat once a week. I usually cheat with burgers or pizzas but never with any types of drinks. It started because I was getting fat, at least to me I was, as I went up to 170 pounds. I then cut out all carbs and basically became a vegetarian for 6 months where I didn't eat any sugars. After I got back down to 130, I started to cheat. I wanted to go down to 125 but, I felt that was a little too skinny. I'm now 140 as I'm not super skinny but not fat either.
