The Lexus LX600 Has The Same Problem As Before | Old Fashioned Good.
We take a look at a 2023 Lexus LX600 F Sport which is the only possible model in the US for a 300 series Land Cruiser.
And it does have the same problem as the 200 series. Too expensive to start and doesn't appeal to buyers in this segment, Then when a few years pass it becomes highly desirable.
Let's hope the new 250 series Land Cruiser fixes these issues which has nothing to do with the truck itself!

Protect this man at all costs!
I have 2022 LX600 Premium. After 18 months of ownership the vehicle feels like it is not even broken in yet. Those who buy it new have the means and want the LC heritage. It is in a class of its own and you either get it or don’t.
Well said
What about the sound volume problem? Does it drop after 40? People with 25 speaker sound system have this problem and nobody has a fix to it. They even said if you are an audiophile this isnt the car for you unfortunately.
I still have the original window sticker from my 2008 LX. $84,000!! But it is now 15 yrs old and looks essentially brand new. Worth the investment? If you can afford it, YES. They are keepers!
Inflation adjustment $120k
Wow you got the best looking J200 based LX before they switched to the enormous grills. You are top 5% or so in how long you keep your new vehicle. It's so amazing to see someone keep their Toyota truck for so long, because they are literally made for it. It's my dream to do the same thing.
You have the best generation Land Cruiser LX.
Spot on with the luxury market assessment...the people who can afford them want the things that isn't the vehicle's strength, but the ones that aren't the target market love the LX for being a Land Cruiser
Exactly.
Makes you wonder if they changed it for the people that can afford them if they would sell a whole lot more of them.
@@turnne Right now, there's nothing that Lexus needs to do to the LX because some dealers are selling them over MSRP and there's wait lists as well
@@trdrav4 Its new.....lets wait and see after the initial people get their vehicles and see how many are sold. My point was they could make it appeal to a larger audience even if its price was higher....look at the Range Rover for instance
What are the vehicle's supposed strengths?
When my GX hit right at 300k miles it developed a few issues. I ended up purchasing this exact car a 2023 LX600 FSport with I think every option. I’m 2.5k miles in and love the vehicle. I was a bit worried coming from the V8, but I’m enjoying the turbo 6. I cross shopped up to 150k, quality and reliability brought me back to this. Plus it drives like a dream. Mine also has the adjustable suspension.
Awesome, glad to hear that. Looking forward to mine
@@omendarklight1526 its a super nice vehicle. The active suspension is really nice.
I think you nailed it once again. These will never see off-roading until 10 years from now. To be honest, I would love to have one because of the reliability, but I will never be able to afford a $100k automobile. I'll stick to my Avalon that nobone wanted (Old man car) for next to nothing with no miles!
I don’t know why people buy luxury cars nowadays tbh. Even Lexus to an extent. If you want a car with “luxuries” imo just stick to a nicely packaged Venza and you’re set. New luxury cars are becoming a scam with packages and whatnot, on top of the Germans leading planned obsolescence in the car industry since the mid 2000’s. What’s the point of refining a car so much that you put other stuff in it that we won’t use, yet upcharge for it?
@@faheemabbas3965 Correct, Venza Limited
Avalon is a great car. Almost a Lexus ES. If you got the JBL Synthesis you got an amazing sound system.
@@faheemabbas3965The problem is Toyota is the king of segmentation. They will not give you the V6 in the Land Cruiser, Lexus GX only. 8000 lbs in a SUV of that size is really great, but you will only get 6k lbs with the Land Cruiser. Also Toyota's JBL sounf systems are utter shit now. The 4th gen 4Runner had a V8 and JBL Synthesis which is incredible. That 4Runner is so special it's basically a Lexus.
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 I do. I’m super happy with it. This is one of the very few cars I haven’t felt the need to upgrade the sound system in.
Love my LX 600 F Sport… Over a year later you never see one around. It handles and drives much better than my old 570. And it’s much faster. Traveled with 6 people and luggage from Atlanta to DC recently with no issues. A bit tight but no biggie. Overall I just love it.
How much did you pay markup. My dealer asking 125k. I said hell no
So glad to hear that, I'm looking into purchasing one in the future. Great feedback
@@omendarklight1526 I have a few videos on my channel on it!
@@MikeForsythewhere? I checked.
I hope it doesn’t have that gawd awful piped in engine noise. Akio Toyoda is ruining lexus and toyoda with that. If I wanted that I’d buy a ford pinto.
If I had the money, I would buy this Lexus without any hesitation. This is a beautiful long lasting truck.
I think they tried their best to tame the turbos, which is why there are 2 separate radiators for each bank for the intercooler. It’s probably necessary for people who want to tow or put the engine through large extended loads.
The best review with practical explanation!
look at the amount of views! Come on Toyota give us a basic 300
Couldn’t take my eyes off that LS400 in the background 😍
That big void by the resonator looks like a perfect spot for a long range fuel tank.
I concur!
One of the main things that made me pick Lexus over Mercedes and BMW was the none turbo and their hybrid system. Now they have complicated things I would have to reconsider things for my next car
The improvement in production for your videos has gone up recently. Amazing stuff!
I want to see more of that 100 series on the lift! Amazing how similar the chassis and drivetrain are 25 years later.
Another brilliantly executed analysis , the tech end is made understandable and the honesty and candor of AMD's opinions are so refreshing and so useful to a shopper in the market for this vehicle. This gentleman is a treasure , let's hope he continues to do these videos for many years to come. I only wish that I lived local to his shop, I would not trust anyone else to service and/or repair a Toyota/Lexus product of mine.
👏👏
JAOS has a stock powertrain Baja built LX600 that couldn’t finish its tour but did pretty well. I think these will get stronger over time with changes. Your knowledge of these cars always amaze me and I can’t wait to see an GX550 on your channel.
I love when you review toyota/lexus stuff. I like to think about how nice this will still be in 15 years with 200K miles.
With the planned obsolescence route Toyota has been doing down recently, especially by ditching the V8 for turbo engines, they are beginning to put profit over reliability now. The older cars are better. Hold onto them for as long as you can.
@@faheemabbas3965keep in mind that a twin turbo V6 is more expensive to manufacture than a V8, so your argument about profits is kind of weak.
I was thinking, I hope whoever buys that Direct injection turbo changes the oil more often than every 10K miles. @@faheemabbas3965
It's about emission regulations in the US. That's why Toyota is switching to smaller engine... well let's see how this turbo charged engines will last.

Yes it is. My favorite color also.
Best overall review I’ve seen AMD! So thanks very much for providing such a detailed/comprehensive review as always, really appreciate your expertise! :)
Thank you! Just wish you were down the street from me. Best LX review on the web...........
Absolutely the best review of the LX I have seen. Thanks!
We need the 300 Land Cruiser here in the USA!!!!
one of the best and comprehensive car reviews I have seen in years.
You sir, are the only car review source the I can actually believe and I feel is completely unbiased. Thank you very much. Wish you had brought up the removal of the AHC system. Or was it removed?
I hope you can do reviews for other autos
It is an option on the F sport…not usually spec’d that way from the factory
Thanks for another comprehensive review, AMD! Even Lexus should be nervous about your critiques 😁
Lexus and Toyota should be very nervous about my extremely harsh critiques
@@naveenthemachine Only if they see public comments and take steps. Do they? Sadly, I guess not.
No, sorry. For anyone in the industry, they know how limited this guys knowledge of these vehicles is
Thanks for the great video again Mr. AMD! I’ve always liked the LX series. Would you mind doing a video on how to prepare a Toyota or Lexus for a “drive cycle”? Perhaps explain what, why, when…. I’ve got a permanent code on my 2021 Toyota but no check engine light. I discovered it when testing my new OBD2 scanner. Found that it had a P0102 code. My truck runs fine though. A bit confusing when watching videos on how to get rid of this P code. Maybe you can explain it better. Thanks again for your great channel.
I love when you review toyota/lexus stuff.
Best Toyota/Lexus content and videos in KZhead! Great Job!!!
Amazing vehicle. Great review. When you sat inside the colors of your shirt blended with the interior and almost made you invisible.
The void directly opposite the fuel tank is for the dual fuel tank present on some trims of the Land Cruiser 300 in other markets.
Bro, I wish you were in Florida, so you could service my Lexus and Land Cruiser, your videos are excellent, thank you so much for teaching us!
Great video AMD. Way out of my price range but a beautiful vehicle. I wonder if they had moved the spare tire to the rear hatch would there have been a way to make more foot-room in the third row?
So far yet the LX doesn't have a problem selling, not even in the US where it's often sold out. And they're coming up with a refresh soon to fix the interior and add more features. Once they do that it'll be a true luxury flagship.
Thanks for the info, knew this is where it was headed. My next dream car right here!
The interior is the LX’s biggest problem. The rest of the car is fine.
@@faheemabbas3965 and it’s still sold out almost everywhere. But I agree. I’m hearing the refresh is coming quickly to fix the interior and add more features as well as update the already excellent exterior styling. And most importantly give us the hybrid powertrain that’s different from the Sequoia’s (different battery and motors).
Yeah, the gauge cluster not having fully digital and a wireless charger in the front seats (should be standard and not removed in some trims) is a big miss. also, the hybrid engine should debut in the LX from the sequoia and tundra, Let see if they add more power and have better packaging. But TBH naveenthegreenmachine would still complain that its outdated and its not real luxury even with the changes.
@@huanronghu4432 😭 so true, it's in his blood
It's nice. I can't recall you reviewing a Lexus nx 300h? I have one in the UK. I've enjoyed your videos for years now 😊👍
I felt as if I was listening to a review of the 2023 GX460. The conservative styled cockpit, rear seat legroom, third row room, quality materials, truck like design, handling, and indestructible. It seems that the GX became what the old Landcruiser/LX was at a reasonable price point. For 9/10’s of the LX you can have a GX for 30-40% less money. Less is more because it is easier to fit in a garage and parking space. As a bonus, the 18” tires cost half of what the 22’s do. Tires and oil changes will be the maintenance. I think the LX grew 1/10 bigger, but the price tag and unnecessary complexity increased at a much larger fraction.
I concur.
I’ve been waiting for this video ever since they announced it!!! Thank you Ahmed!!!
This is his second video on the LX 600.
First time watching your channel. What a great overview. Super knowledgeable and detailed. So much better then the typical KZhead regurgitated marketing talking points. I will tune in to your reviews from now on. Keep up the great work.
I am not an suv guy at all but just had to say wow. That is a really good looking truck. Very nice.
If Thomas from Autogefuhl had the knowledge of a mechanic, he'd be this guy. Excellent work!
Thank you for the review
Great review. I recently an LX600 premium premium 2023 to go with my 2023 GX460 blackline edition. It was a cancelled order and I happened to be in the right place at the right time with the right dealer. Otherwise they are hard to get at sticker. I like the Lx600, but I like the GX460 better. At first I found the ergonics on the LX a bit off, but I have gotten used to them quickly. The center HVAC display I actually like because it does not interfere with carplay on the big screen. Another win is the cooled seats work way better than the GX and it gets 4mpg more even though it is bigger. I wanted the five seater Lx, but they don’t make very many at all, and I would have lost the nicer leather and cooled seat. Anyway, the LX is not perfect, but it’s vastly better and will be more reliable than the VW products (Porsche/Bentley/Audi) or a Range Rover or domestics, but I don’t think it will last like the GX.
It's definitely the sensible option in its segment.
Agreed. I love mine as well.
Does the GX feel lighter ?
@@muffenist probably not because the LX has some significant weight savings over the previous gen and it's newer so it hides its weight better
Great review and as always thank you for some wonderful technical insights, I’ve owned the same vehicle, same colour scheme since mid 2022 and agree 100% with your observations. The LX Sport model in Australia is priced exactly the same as the Luxury / Sports model, however the F Sport has the adaptive suspension and Torsen rear diff, no third row seats offered in this spec. We also own a 2021 2nd generation NX and like the LX where’s the iconic centre clock gone, an old fashioned Lexus legend. No review I’ve seen to date has mentioned the LX F Sport three position adjustable headrests MIA, were found on all previous Lexus Sports models as a standard inclusion. Overall very happy and a fantastic vehicle to drive both on and off road especially unsealed potholed corrugated bush roads. For a big heavy vehicle we get great respectable fuel economy albeit on premium gasoline as per Lexus recommendation. Bags of power in all ranges and the 10 speed transmission is a joy, towing is effortless. Offers all Landcruiser 300 4WD features these are also available in Oz incredibly popular with very long wait times. Your comments regarding keeping it simple even extends to Android/ IPhone Lexus Connected remote App, less features four in total compared to the NX with nine functions and no remote climate customisation controls. Personally I love the simplicity especially the fact they didn’t go with the electric door lock opening safety feature found on newer Lexus models, confuses everyone who isn’t familiar with the system. LX kept the soft close door function which as always works Swiss clock well!
Very informative video... Tons of thanks Ahmad
You nailed it what you said about this vehicle. I'm a 200 series Land Cruiser owner and wish the 300 series Land Cruiser was sold here. I really don't want to purchase the new LX600 for the following reasons. It was supposed to be thw option for a Land Cruiser replacement but it has 22 inch wheels and a low hanging front grill. I agree it looks alright but that is not what I want in this type of purchase. I would much rather have better approach, departure and breakover angles. I really like the heavy duty nature of the cooling system and everything else that is built so well. That's what I really want. My hope is that they will offer a GR sport like version of the LX600 and make it more like the Land Cruiser 300. Another thing I don't care for is the tune that recommends high test fuel. This vehicle uses a lot of fuel and it would be nicer to be able to run 87 octane.
You can get one with smaller wheels from Lexus.
I believe that TOYOTA should hire this PROTECH in order to advise them on how to build trouble free cars and make everyone happy.
Love the dip in the hood. It is from the 70 series
Lexis and Toyota should be bring you in as an advisor
Great analysis about the market situation of the luxury Land Cruisers, nonetheless, this truck it's just gorgeous!. Thanks for this video.
Any repairs? Thanks
Fantastic review as usual. I wouldn’t go off road with this masterpiece. Toyota/ Lexus it’ll last for ever.
Excellent review. Totally agree this is high quality compared to tundra and sequ oia. Wish interior was more like gx550. Be very interesting to see your review of upcoming gx550. For me it's either this or gx550 in next 4 years.
The LC300 doesn't have a volume/tune knob unless you go down to the lower trims and they're just small knobs that flank the small screen. The big screen just has keys to dial the volume up and down.
Thank you for the insight into a wonderful vehicle. If this vehicle were in my price range I would definitely buy one, it’s almost perfect for my taste. I greatly appreciate all your content & will continue watching , thank you sir!

I would love to upgrade my LX470 but the car market is such a mess right now. The LX600 is a proper LC300 just wearing a suit as you said. I might have to go for a 200 for now.
Do not; under any circumstances, get rid of your LX470. It is, an almost a perfect power train.

Fun fact the turbos can be done without pulling the motor which they call for both can be replaced in a couple of hours as I’ve done them on one 22 tundra as a Toyota tech. Not many people know the truck but if you know it you know it. And since Toyotas expects you to pull the motor the warranty time pays well being able to sneak them out. Overtime they’ll drop the warranty time but for now it’s good money
Build quality is Number 1 , perfect.
This is meant to tow the Land Rover over the hill for when it breaks down. 😂 so true, yet funny!
The factor that drove up prices of old Land Cruisers was their indestructibility. They clearly used quality materials, but you really need to see how the turbo engines are holding up after a decade, and how many repairs become out of reach because of the lack of space under the hood. Until that all falls into place, most are going to want the tried and true V-8 version.
My only one option is the armada that’s the last v8 reliable engine
@@joelrodriguez7038Nissan can’t afford to R&D new engines.
I am shocked that people think if the new turbo charged/hybrid engines will be reliable. Toyota has been making turbo charge engines since the 1980s. They also made the first mass hybrid car which is the Prius from 1997. They have tested these engines for 20 years. They know what they are doing. What is even more absurd is that people think Toyota is just simply stupid? Do you think the largest car producer in the world will ditch the only thing they are known for which is reliability? There are people 100x smarter than us sitting at Toyota making these decisions. Do not teach the most reliable company in the world to make reliable cars..
@@NanJa-hi7dl 👍
@@NanJa-hi7dl They've already done that, with any 2AZ-FE 2.4L engine after 2007, with its loose piston rings. Every one will need to be removed and have a piston replacement. Waiting too long will turn it into scrap. They have no choice - the earlier one was fuel consumption mandated by the gov't. Now, they're also being taxed heavily on energy input in manufacturing, requiring very small engines. Reliability is now a luxury few can afford, and mass market cars can't carry that much tax or nobody will buy them. Why do you think new cars have doubled in price recently?
This space under the car for axillary tank In my country (Saudi Arabia) it is 110L Yours is 80L The extra cooling system is designed for hot countries like us and this car is built for overlanding to Africa Asia and other hot areas where the turbo cars suffer a lot and yes still overheat in my country when you push it to its limit (we add more electric fans in the turbo radiator and extra radiator to increase the coolant capacity Thanks for your info. It seems to me they are following the trend with all of the other manufacturers. They don’t want you to work on their cars. Everything is covered in plastic and hard to get to. I’m an automotive technician I work on cars daily every brand vehicle today I worked on a Mercedes a Chevy Silverado and a Toyota forerunner. I am a huge Toyota fan, but I don’t like the directions to new Toyotas are going the same cheaper made, less DIY friendly.

Hey I have a question for you. Does the oil addictive help when doing oil changes. ??
You need two radiations for this hot V6 setup. Thanyou for your service always a valued opinion.
The LX is tall, but looks and feels bigger than it actually is. My 570 wheelbase is only 120”, great for off-roading. After removing the third row seats and upgrading wheels, tires and running boards, it feels like the perfect size for extended trips. Biggest negative for me is the brakes.
Stop making these videos! I bought a GX because of you :) (and love it)
My assumption for that cavern next to the resonator it for a secondary fuel tank. That opening could for servicing a fuel pump, that would be in the secondary tank.
