  • TFS. It is always a pleasure to go on a journey with you. Since you ask what we are doing....I have refocused what I do with my time at home. I used to craft and sell items on consignment at a local historical farm. I may return to that but for now I am focusing my attention on my family. Sewing and crafting personal things for birthdays, weddings, and Christmas. I do have a large recipe/scrapbook/journal project going on in the background but I am mostly sewing at the moment. I took over the dining room table in March and have calculated I have until Christmas dinner to clean it up :-) There was a knee injury thrown in there which reconnected me with some hand stitching. Since a dozen or so projects all at once isn't enough, I added back in embroidery and now English Paper Piecing. Happy crafting and mess making!

  • I love the idea of using books as junk and/or bullet journals rather than tearing them apart. One example I look forward to trying is using the one textbook I saved from when I was in graduate school. (Went back to grad. school in my 40's.) After several moves, with books being SO HEAVY to pack & move, I eventually resold/donated all my textbooks, except the very first book from my very first class in my chosen field - mental health counseling. I also still have most of my paperwork from all my classes. Some I will digitalize but plan to use the textbook as the foundation for somehow incorporating a lot of the paperwork which includes all manner of psychological tests, comments from professors while observing my counseling work with clients, as well as multitudes of reports. Currently all those papers are taking up a lot of space in several HUGE 3-ring binders so keeping those papers that have meaning to me within the textbook would be great! I plan to use other books as junk journal-esque memory books of various travels. I made scrapbooks after each trip but, again, the average scrapbook is an unwieldy size. Same with photo albums. By using books, I can place them on my bookshelves much easier. Thank you for suggesting this technique. I am not "artsy" with drawing, painting, etc. Writing is my preferred art medium but I CAN arrange items within a book using tape, glue, ephemera, etc.

This is such a great new twist on creating one. Thank you so much for this idea and the inspiration to think outside the box. I can't wait to start one. You are amazing!!!

  • Ma'am, could you do a brief description of a "Bullet," journal? I looked up the glue stick you recommended. It is sold in the UK I am in Canada but! I found an online test of five different glue sticks and yours came in first place, so I ordered some on Amazon. While I wait between you and Papergirl, I have been buying ephemera on Facebook Marketplace. My wife and I have locked ourselves down as Canadian Governments dither, so I am buying by mail. I just bought Japanese stamps I was going to photocopy s couple of screens, if you want I can send you a picture to copy though I'm sure you need nothing. I want to keep my work slightly masculine for my target group and I like the direction I have in mind. I truly appreciate you M'Lady!

    • You can find them in the Etsy shop of Tracie Fox. There is a link to her channel in the video description box, and from her channel you can find her Etsy shop. Hope this helps!!

  • Do you think you will need to tear some pages out of the book to keep it from getting to fat? Also, did you print your ephemera on card stock?

    @yesabenson@yesabenson3 жыл бұрын
    • Great questions Lisa...I did indeed tear some pages out...I spread the tearing out, preserving some specific pages and glued some to make side and top pockets. You can see the process here -> kzhead.info/sun/nrh_msWafKZ9Zqc/bejne.html. I use 90 GSM paper for printing my ephemera...a bit more than basic copy paper but not card. It makes a difference but isn't too bulky. Hope this helps! 👍🏻💜😊🌿🍂

  • did you cut out some pages from this book so that it doesn't bulge ? I've seen some people do that prior to adding paper and embellishments. Is it necessary to have to do it?

    • I removed about 1 in 3 pages Lisa; you can see me do it and generally choose and prep the book in this video here kzhead.info/sun/nrh_msWafKZ9Zqc/bejne.html 😁👍💜💜💜

  • What is getso do? And what kind of brand of paint do you use?

    @lnngiri@lnngiri3 жыл бұрын
    • Hello Terri. Gesso is a paste that makes the surface of the paper easier to work on, it makes the paper less likely to absorb water so you can paint on top more easily. Do I need gesso? I don't yet know. We will see. 😁💜

  • What type of pen are you using to write in your journal?

    @michellescott9859@michellescott98593 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Michelle, I use a Lamy Fountain pen, with a converter in the barrel so that I don't have to use ink cartridges. I use super black ink. I bought the pen and ink from Cult Pens, who are an online shop. 😁💕
