Spartan Bomber Flies Thru A Solar Halo Before Eclipse
On the day of the Great American Eclipse, I went to Wawayanda in hopes of flying a few models through the sky during the peak of the crescent action. The morning was fantastic, with mild air and mostly clear skies...but 30 minutes before the full eclipse, the clouds moved in, giving us very little in the way of a clear view. Still, I flew and recorded what happened. The bonus was an earlier flight, where the Spartan Bomber circled the sun, inside a solar halo...a first for any of my ships!!
Thx to Fred Stagg for being a wingman. It was one of there best and most memorable days ever.
Filmed by Tom Hallman & Fred Stagg with a Canon PowerShot SX20, and a few iPhones. Music via the marvelous artists at ArtList.io, who breathe life into my films.

Your videos are as beautiful as your aircraft. What a special day to fly!
Looks like a LOT of fun was had! Can't get enough footage of those cool 'wocks, the Spartan Bomber and that awesome glider! Thanks for sharing your day with us!
Thx. Those guys are my 'A' team, and I never get tired of pulling them out for a few spins.
Dear Friend . Thanks for share your amazing Videos. My loved wife died one year ago. I will retorn to modelling. I need good moments. Thanks again!
I know the feeling my wife also passed away year half ago, and she was into modelling! I need to get back into it again and these videos are inspiring to do it again. maybe later who knows?
Sorry for your losses. We welcome you gentlemen to some wonderful times if you join us in this modeling
Sorry for your losses. I've found the FF field to be a soulful, grounding spot after my own losses thru the years. It's a place that allows me to feel closer to them, while I lose myself in the beauty of flight.
Great video! That solar flare shot is astonishing.
Your building is superb, your finishing is outstanding and it seems as though angels pull your aircraft up into the heavens for beautiful flights.
Another outstanding video. The weather seemed perfect for an early spring day. A while back I got a ride and flew in 2-22. A vintage tube and fabric but fun flying sailplane.
It's always fun to watch your beautiful model airplane fly. Thank you.
Awesome Tom !! Thanks for sharing!!
That indeed was a great flying day! Thanks for sharing it with us all out here in internet land. 😍
Great Job. Fantastic flights. My admiration and respect from Argentina
Thx, Ricardo. It was such a great day of flying. Cheers.
Very impressive outro photo!
Magnificent!!!🤗😉😊
Very cool! It's like it knew where to fly.
Thx...I couldn't believe what I was seeing as she flew inside that Solar Halo. I didn't even know it was there until after I launched.
Magical!
I can certainly pick up on the idea of personifying these planes, and the more one sees them fly, the easier it is so to do. They're a bit like songs, you know composers often say that you write a tune, which is yours, but as soon as you release it into the world, it takes on a life of its own, or maybe I'm just disappearing up my own blast tube.. Anyway, this is one magical tour de force of a film, and all these models have become familiar to us. Really wonderful as ever. Thank you Tom! 🌟👍
Thx, William. This is a team of flyers that I knew I could count on, so they got the nod. That Spartan Bomber continues to impress me. So glad that she's part of the fleet.
