  • "So, that's how cameras work!" Loved that little quote. Haha! As a photographer, I think it's brilliant that Clint keeps photographic settings in mind and also simply explains concepts to people who may be new to photography.

  • Malarkey hahaha, man I'm mad new to this 3D world, and I'm not even doing it to win although that would be awesome too, but folks this IS how we get better. A year ago I was nowhere near where I am today. At first, I thought I would never get as good as some of the folks I've seen. I changed my perspective on that real quick and rather than seeing it as a reason not to participate in challenges like this, I used it as fuel to push myself to get better. So, everything I learn along the way, is like winning. And it's ton of fun too! Don't count yourselves out, it's impossible to get worse the more you do something so just get in there and do it. This time next year, I guarantee you'll look back and be like, dang, i never thought I'd get this good, and you'll even be looking for more ways to improve. The growth is an ongoing process, don't get discouraged, get inspired! Don't be afraid to ask questions or advice from folks in the community, i was in the music space, and I never seen anything like the VFX/CG community. The people in this space are so helpful for the most part. So many people have been instrumental in my journey, Clint included (I totally dig his teaching style!), but find inspiration, challenge yourself, and keep growing your skill sets. You guys got this man, let's do this ya'll!!!!

  • Wow. Sometimes i just wonder what inside their brains to make them so talented. Just think about mixing colors was making crazy. How the hell they can create the environment 3D like so that real. Unbelievable the efforts, the time he’ve put in his work.

  • Hey Clint, lets hope you read comments! a little tip at 3:05:00 or so is just to multiply the Object Scale (node) into the UV. that way, a flat surface that is being used for a wall or floor can scale the object without changing the materials - so you could non-uniformly scale the walls if the UV orientation is right.

  • I'm a MEGA noob when it comes to this stuff, but I joined the Discord for this challenge, at least that's one step closer to making something. By joining, I learned something very valuable. Don't be afraid to look like you don't know what you are doing. How did I learn that from joining a Discord server? I had problems getting the animations to work in Blender and I was super afraid to admit it, so I spent hours looking for Tutorials on YT, with no luck. I then bit the bullet and went to the server, and look and behold, I was not the only one! This quickly lead to a tutorial on the server that another user had made to fix my exact problem! Love the sense of community on the server, everybody seems to want to share their knowledge and help everybody get the best journey possible

    • @@lorddgoldd so I figured out a work around, by importing mesh and animation into blender, then exporting from there, quite long winded but it worked eventually, I used royal skies video on blender to unreal animations for the exporting, and Jonathan krons video on retargeting the mesh in blender

  • As someone who is in blender and new to armatures, I am really curious if there is a small tip anyone can give or reference video about adding the armature to our character, I tried adding it to the dummy as a test and the armature is correct but the character has skin stretching all over and looking quite hideous, is there a small tip to help fix it or is it quite a big problem that a refrence video would cover? I am new to animating characters in blender so any tips would be greatly appreciated ♥

  • 1:54:50 Hi. You can create sub level from multiple meshes to easy edit whole group later if you needed, so all the instances will be changed automatically. Select meshes, r click, levels, create sub Press the right click to chose edit and then Esc to leave sub level.

  • For somebody completely new to 3d art who really wants to try this challenge, would people recommend blender or unreal 5? I am at least semi-familiar with unreal, but that was for programming/basic level layout and that was all the way back in unreal 3.

    • I've never used Unreal, so I couldn't say which is better. But I've been using blender for a couple years now and still learn new methods and workflows with every project. There are just so many tools available for almost any art style, and you really can create anything you can imagine. As with most art forms, it can take a long time to learn how to use which can be discouraging, but it's totally worth it. Goodluck with whichever software you choose!

    @Intmain02@Intmain02 Жыл бұрын
    • No, don't touch the animation itself, but you can add secondary motion on top of it. If you run a cloth simulation on top of it which is driven by the animation you can tweak the visual appearance slightly by controlling how that moves/falls, touching them bones breaks the rules.
