Similar to the Haulover Inlet, the Passe du Boucarot in Capbreton, France, is famous for its heavy shore breaks and some extraordinary waves.
Off the coast of Capbreton is a deep and large canyon due to the movements of large tectonic plates between France and Spain. The sea floor rises quite fast towards the coast, which explains why the waves can be so traitorous at the inlet entrance. Given specific movements of the entering and retiring tides, along with strong currents due to the canyon, and accentuated by large surf coming to shore, the inlet can become quite risky.
The original access to the harbor was only developed in the 70s with the actual inlet built as we know it now.
Regarding the port of Capbreton, it is the only fishing port in the entire Landes department.
There are three types of fishing boats in that harbor: caseyeurs, fileteurs and chalutiers.
The "caseyeurs" are boats that live cages on the bottom of the ocean, like the lobstermen would do in Maine. The "fileteurs" let long fishing strings in the wake of the boat, such as casual fishermen would do. The "chalutiers" (fishing trawler) are much more destructive to the environment. Trawling is a method of fishing that involves actively dragging or pulling a trawl through the water behind one or more trawlers.

I like this new location not all 4 engine monsters
It's refreshing to see normal boats that don't put people in debt for the rest of their lives
We're in France.
They're happy with the size of their dicks. So no need for compensation.
There’s nothing in that ocean more valuable than my life. If it doesn’t feel right, turn around.
Well said👍👍😎🏴
Jeanneau boats look very nice and seaworthy too
Good job pour la SNSM Pas de gilets…Bravo….
Such weird boats! That boat with the kids had a "mid-engine-outboard" :)
Looked in good condition for its age
Seen boats like that here in the UK, they are rare, but you do see them around from time to time
and yet they keep going out in the morning and they keep coming back in at the end of the day.
What is the music that keeps being played, I like it.
Trop de navigateurs amateurs ignorent le gilet de sauvetage ! Une folie !
Was there more than one engine on any of those boats? Modest boats. Just having a nice day on the water. Haulover is a world away!
no life jackets on, they must all be really good swimmers then
"The sea was angry that day my friends..."
Whoa big fella!
In Canada, and especially here in Quebec, PFD’s must be worn at ALL TIMES on a boat…….Adults, children, old folks, everybody! Why is the state of Florida so lackadaisical about people’s lives?
This video was filmed in France
Canada's got a ton of rules kind of sounds like a dictatorship lately.
If you cannot tell that this is in some international waters-please do not wear a life jacket so as to stop your gene pool. Maybe also look at a book containing the flags of other countries.
Ha suck that up, sheriff
After the antics of Trudeau, that doesn’t surprise me in the least.
Noticed the different boat registration letters. Where is BA and the other boat LR from?
these are administrative maritime zones in France, Ba for Bayonne in the southwest and Lr for Lorient in Brittany in the west
LR is La Rochelle
Didnt spot a life jacket on anyone!
Looks rough out there. Not a lifejacket in sight. When you really need it ,it may be to late to be trying to find it.
Yes that’s France, life jackets are mostly deeply stored😢
What was the teal boat at the end? The guy was just standing there.
Yeah I wonder how he's steering his boat. By phone app or something :D
With a stick that mans the rudder. The stick is between his legs. So he steers with his legs
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
The guy cleaning fish with a smoke hanging out his mouth!
It seems that, just like on roads, there's less horsepower but more skill in Europe
👍👍👍👍👍
why would you be out there when it's so rough
First Video with only "non-millionair-boats" that normal guys like me could buy😀
I bet most are still in the double or even triple digit thousand dollars price range. I saw a previous video where I too thought "oh, I could probably afford that tiny boat" ... _nope_ it cost more than the literal value of my entire two-storey _house_ LOL. Boats are damned expensive!!
It’s not buying the boat that’s expensive, it’s the ongoing maintenance.
@@achosenman9376 For me, it's both lol
@@DavidStruveDesigns I feel your pain…
👍👍👍👍
No life jackets on going into to that swell 😡
What do you care if someone isn't wearing a PFD? If people want to make stupid decisions and possibly be Darwin award recipients, let em.....
