I absolutely love the prospect of Smiling Friends taking place in an alternate history, now I need to see the rest of world geopolitics. Does the Soviet Union still exist? How is Latin America doing? Who currently leads China? Did Mr. Frog commit war-crimes when he fought as a volunteer for the rebels in the Syrian Civil War?
Considering how the Soviets were already about to collapse by 1992 that part doesn't change. But parts like the Clinton administration stuff with China never occur here which means China wouldn't be nearly as much of an economic power as they are in the real world.
Mr Frog is the most powerful person in the SF universe remember?
