Hey all! On Behalf of team El Camino and Directors and producers Fernando Campos and Jaime Jasso, we feel so proud and happy to be part of the DUST family, I hope you enjoy our project as much as we loved and enjoyed making this film. This film represents 5 years of hard work, and many talented people involved in the creation of our vision, thanks to all the people that helped us on this journey, we couldn't have made it without any of you! Please ask away! Let us know what you think, and we'll be happy to answer any questions regarding the art and tech used in this film.
You all told that story wonderfully and I hope to see more from you folks in the future :)
Great job!
More please, great short that begs for an extended storyline and a full movie treatment. Thank you!!
Bravo!
@@vicsomeone That's the goal! thanks :)
Thank you !!! thank you all for your comments, working on this short was a great honor for me. As an actress, I learned a lot !!! Viva México!!!
You were terrific!!
Well done. Top notch scfi.
🎉🎉🎉 awesome
Nice work. It was god to see sci-fi from a different perspective.
great work. I really was routing for you to somehow get through that.
Any time there is a Dad who says to his daughter, "Don't go near" something, you already know what is going to happen in the movie.
yes that is true
@Jacky Drywater I can relate to that I did them all on this planet , all shades
One of these days someone might think, "let's have a daughter who actually listens for a change" afterall, what good is fiction if you aren't allowed to do something unrealistic once in a while?
@@treebeardtheent2200 Death and Doom sell more views that is why every filmmaker does those types and not happily ever afters . For more money .
@@BigDsGaming2022 Ain't that the truth, but it just get's so predictable. "You know, I'd rather go bowling, just to shake things up." - Fro-zone
Serious question here. How is this so much better than what we get from more traditional sources? I would watch a whole series set in this world and I wouldn't even care that there were subtitles. The lighting and general world aesthetic were fantastic. You really get the sense that the technology of the world all fits together.
Thanks so much! that's the goal and with all these comments I'm sure someone will be watching and make this happen! 🙏
@@jamesvfx I wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing what you do next. I just subscribed to your channel.
13 min short needs less CGI time than a full movie. But when it comes to costumes and real play you can see that it's quite a low standard.
@@valdemaar3000 Those of us who remember Blake's 7 are happy with SFX made from cardboard and mylar :) Strong story, solid characters, and internal suspension of disbelief can make up for even the most primitive SFX and CGI. But this one was visually very good.
I agree! It makes no sense that for a genre that's been around for ever and has a serious hardcore fan base, we get little sprinklings of decent shows and movies throughout the years. I'm so thankful for the Dust channel and independent guys like this providing us with the best quality out there!
"It's the politics of contraband. It's the smugglers blues." Awesome short story!
Jimmy the Pilot!
i get the reference!
Me encantan las pequeñas películas de Dust. "El Camino" se trata de la historia de la Caja de Pandora desde la mitología griega. La actriz que hizo la decisión de abrir la Caja se convirtió en un monstruo furioso y atormentado.
Well, the plot is conventional. But, jeez the design is spectacular. All the visual elements are loaded with detail. It's better than some of the major studio films I've seen. I tip my hat to the team who worked so hard on this. Well done.
I've heard "curiosity killed the cat 🐈", but in this case "curiosity killed the Robin 🐦". Great short. Loved the effects.. top notch. Fun story.
Well to be fair, the robot was a shirker by not being on the job.
@@hilaryc3203 I'm still trying to figure out how the robot got locked into the room... was it sabotage by Robin to investigate the cargo?
Nice spoiler
"Curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back"

Si una gran sorpresa y buenísimo cortometraje! Felicidades chicos!
@@jamesvfx Buenísimo. Que gran producción. Los felicito. Saludos desde Venezuela . Viva Mexico carajo!!!
Es una producción magnífica !
Well, the visuals were freaking amazing! A lot of very talented people were clearly involved in this film. That the ship's master was a pathetic no-hoper and self-destructively vulnerable to peer pressure does not take away from a visual tour de force!
"Pinche Chatarra Mamona!" This line in a good sci-fi film, PRICELESS!
Details, details, details. There is so much to take in...nothing was skipped over. Well executed!!!
Thank you for noticing, we work year after year paying attention to detail in many aspects, and it is gratifying to see that this is reflected in your comments.
@@fernandocampos541 awesome but small missed detail ... 8:55 shot of Robin's headphones on the floor 9:01 Robin walking towards the container with her headphones around her neck 9:06 shot of Robin without the headphones
Yo this was too good I can’t remember the last time I was so drawn in to a story like this this is why I will always love Sci-fi ❤️🔥❤️🔥🥰🥰🥰🥰
I agree and me too!
Guessing you are a Spanish speaking person and perhaps a friend of the creator, maybe, possibly.
@@Epoch11 Everything was good except the "Don't touch whatever we brought onboard, but I know you will anyway!" That was too cliché and overused.
Definitely!!! OUTSTANDING!!! Would love to know more how the story continues.
The "spacecraft making one last run delivering illicit cargo" theme has been done and redone for many years in sci-fi. But seldom this well...and in only 13 minutes.
Yes, it was quite good. The action scenes lacked weight, but the world-building was cool.
"One last big score" is a classic crime trope, too. Heck, it was half the plot of Red Dead 2! :)
Thanks to DUST and everyone for all the love our short film is receiving, your comments encourage us to continue creating high quality content.

Que súper chingón está este cortometraje!! Los felicito chicos! Esperamos más ojalá y pronto!
Certified Gold!!!!!
Wow, the quality of this was spectacular. Environments, details, lighting, camera angles, sound (so many don't get how sound can make or break a scene). Very impressed. Well done. Have no idea what resources you had available, but doesn't matter. This was right up there with big budget films.
Thank you Trevor! we didn't have resources other than our talent and time, and that's why it took us so long, obviously we did this on our spare time also, but with lots of passion!
I want to see what happens next when the cargo lands on planet Earth! Does Robin survive since she has been possessed by the alien? Will Rojo take the hero's quest to save Earth and restore his daughter? I really enjoy the father/daughter dynamic in the storytelling, and the smoking robot - super cool, and the E.T. plushie. The visual effects are superb and to the level of perfection. It is so refreshing to feel the heart of the Spanish language in this short-film. We see an alternative viewpoint from the dominant English speaking/ American dominant sci-fi genre. This character reminds me of Hans Solo but with more heart and less swagger. Superb work, great cinematic music and attention to detail!
Thank you so much, it means a lot!😍
This was awesome. Yet i must say the robot vaping threw me for a loop. Ships modular design makes so much logic. also those helmet High G force gimbles on the seat was very cool and logical.
Yeah, I was also wondering why a robot would be vaping/smoking.
Or why a robot will appear to be bored guarding the cargo.
Perhaps it wasn't a pure robot, but more of an cyber human?
Absolutely FANTASTIC visuals!!!!! The ship and environs are the best I've seen yet! BRAVO, BRAVO!
Always look forward to the latest video. I'm subscribing now. Good job :)
Amazing work. The look and feel along with the flow of the story was incredible. Kudos to the whole team.
Well produced.
Dust scifi short films blow big budget films out of the water.
That last mission after the last mission always get em
🤣
Great visuals, acting and sound design. I was drawn in to the story the second it started. My only nitpick was the daughter just deciding to investigate the cargo. Common sense would be to NOT touch any unknown entity that is making someone sick. Why not try to be rid of it instead? But I guess her logic was put aside for plot reasons.
A dream team of amazing artists made all this possible
@@jamesvfx indeed. I will need a few rewatched to take all of it in.
Also why was that container that had a security robot alongside it, not locked? Visually definitely awesome.. plotwise.. mh..
@@MiTheMer I agree, the writing could’ve been much better. I think it was more focused on visuals than storytelling.
Like who the hell trapped the robot... great looking just needs to make more sense
This was great, I'd love to see more from Fernando Campos and Jaime Jasso. Thank you
Whatever you watch in the movie, just do something like you're IN THERE!
expensive, well crafted, strong cinematography and CGI. Actors were great, well directed. Strong production design and wardrobe. love the digital thermostat as a bomb.
I enjoy all of these, but I REALLY enjoyed this one. Great story, great sets and design. Love it.
I love when I use to discuss what the far future of transportation would look like I explained it where there would be crews very similar to the show Firefly and that the cargo industry would be huge because you have to get these many different types of products, and parts even "private illegal loads" and languages wouldn't change much. Meaning there still will be a need for people to be bilingual trilingual or polyglots as to these types of cargo hauls would prove just as lucrative as there are no more "faux land borders" dividing people. People would look as if I was talking about an alien when discussing this matter but glad to see this director/film maker is showing a diversity in the space materials cargo industry that we are all too familiar within the sci fi genre. I've seen it in other DUST sci dramas but it's refreshing to see other cultures will still use their language in daily interaction
IF all this indie films unite and create a movie they can give this big budget films a competition.
Gorgeous set design and visuals. Professional cinematography. "mini-Alien" kind of story
Thank you so much, yes Alien was our main inspiration to do this!

Wow that was amazing start to finish.
Thank you!
we need more offshoots concepts of The Expanse such as this - great visualisations, the 'x-ray' tool etc - but best of all was the ET toy Robin was playing with. great story well told - apart from the already mentioned plot hole of why Robin would put herself in harm's way like that. 9.5/10
Obviously the "cube creatures" had a mental hold over her/she was susceptable to the creatures needs. Whatever. Truly excellent visuals...any more?
Everything in this looks absolutely flawless.
I'm glad you liked it :)
I agree!
Ok
Even the magical headphones? 🤣😂
Great short, with an unexpected, but sad ending. Usually you would expect the daughter to somehow survive. Good work.
Loved this.... Excellent work..
Great work!!! Special effects are top notch and big budget movie grade. Makes me want to know the rest of the story.
Not easy when you have no budget at all but when you have passionate people, and vision, it definitely helps a lot, we are happy with the result
@@jamesvfx And so you should be, great film, awesome visuals and design, very well done. thank you.
I really hope someone sees this who can arrange funding for these people. They deserve to be able to continue this work that they love.
I must say it's was a well told story and brilliant acting. Thank you to the cast and production team. A job well done!
Thank you for having Spanish as a space travel language! Gracias
THAT...was fantastic! Cheers.
Simple straight forward quality in a short sci fi episode. It works, it was clean, brief and felt real. No heroism, no hero stuff, no star wars action, no sci fi opera. It was right. Great work as usual. I loved that Spanish talk from Mexico too. It really settles the theme perfectly. I would love a multi cultural scene where people speaks in English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, French among other common languages. That provides a deep genuine authenticity to such sci fi world.
Informative. Useful. Calming. Inspiring. Life-changing. Enjoyable. Heart-warming. Other.
Thank you so much!
I'll give it this, the effects were an order of magnitude over Disney right now.
The star wars ep VII-IX ain't got nothings on this. Wonderful
The visual effects were honestly astounding in this film.. 🙌 I’m a professional actor (I make comedy films) & I think all the actors in this movie performed well too :)

Stunning visuals, design and overall pacing. Would love to see a full length film.
One word --> INCREDIBLE
Totally blown away by the design work in this. Ships, environments, props, the robot...everything was 100% top notch. Thank you for sharing this.
Incredible work! Congratulations to everyone involved! Loved the visuals and the vaping robot!
Well, the vaping robot just made no since to me.
You can see the 5 years of work that were put into this! Especially the visuals, holds up very well with any current scifi show. Really liked the plot too, you could absolutely see it as the starter of a show where these space critters land on earth and we gotta fight against them somehow or find out more about them from the cargo's original place.
I was going to say, this is basically the opening for any decent sci-fi "aliens are about to destroy your planet" movie.
Yes! I want to see this go in both directions... Some of the cubes survive on the planet, and that could evolve into different stories, and then also the story of the El Camino, where he tracks down where these came from and who is responsible for her death.
Y’all - not Robin! She was stunning! 😍
so no one is gonna mention the smoking robot ok lol great film btw 🙌
The story wasn't particularly interesting but DAMN the production quality was sick!
@Dr Diablory I wouldn't say it was abysmal. That's far too negative. Just not particularly interesting.
@@saschapanzer Too contrived. The robot going into the room because it thought it heard something. Then the door shutting. Why did the door shut. And of course, she's going to open the box, see something glowing and actually pick it up. Let alone keep looking at it while still holding it when a big bug crawls out of it. And the robot breaks through the door at the precise moment. Should've been able to break through right after the door closed.
Exceptional. Tight idea. Top notch visuals. Good acting. Great sound. Well directed.
I love the Dust family
Sensational - better quality, sense of movement, drama & story line than 99.9 percent of all others.

06:33 Seeing a robot vape (especially the way it's designed) is something I never thought I wanted to really see until now, haha. Great job on this, it looks amazing and interesting narrative...I love father and daughter dynamics/relationships. Banzai to sci-fi Edit: Quite a tragic ending though
Probably some stimulant. If a.i is sufficiently advanced itll have some human quirks like an addiction. Or it could be a human brain digitized in a mech body. Also those cubes probably going to survive reentry so that planet is screwed.
Yeah, puzzled !e too, why it is acting overly humanoid

Great short sci fi indeed. The creature animation and stuff, space gate, ships etc really good. The only thing that kinda made no sense to me is them being surprised by a robot with a gun and that dude with a light stick guiding the ship during the docking... like autopilot doesnt exist :D
What a load of Hollywood. "Promise me dearest daughter that you won't do the one really important thing I ask you not to." "Sure Papa. No worries." Without this intergalactic stupidity there would be no movies for us to waste our lives watching. These guys will probably go far, as they seem to have the formula sussed. Bless us all.
Yeah, too predictable mid story, however I never expected the sad ending.
The best 3d for the last time
Realmente bueno, mejor que la media.
WOW...this was easily one of the best Sci-Fi productions I've ever watched on YT. In 13 minutes, you showed what a dedicated crew can do with about 2% of the Hollyweird budgets. I totally enjoyed this even if there were too many unanswered questions and of course, the "usual" error in judgement from the actress (a totally beautiful young lady, to boot). It would have made things a tad more interesting to know where the shipment originated and end goal of same. The CGI was tops and even if (IMHO) at least partially based on the "Alien" theme, I'd hope the writer/director is considering a 90-100 minute movie based on it with background info so as to make the entire story mesh.
Thank you for this feedback!
