  • hello Robbie I was going to check out what you would recommend me for combs for spring haircuts when its a little harder. I want to know which long bevel and short bevel are best to buy. So i dont have to test a lot of combs. Thank you and have a Nice day. AHMED

    • Hello. its hard for me to recommend what comb to use exactly without knowing the bread of sheep, which country your in, for me to gage the season. Even then sheep change from year to year. its not just how tough the wool is it depends on the skin of the sheep and the rise the wool has. What comb type have you been using?

    • @@shearingschool ok. I live in Sweden and cut Gotland and fine wool and then I have used panther and lister challenger elite short bevel which I thought worked well. I also cut dorper, texel, suffolk and dorset and have used heiniger rebel long bevel which I thought also worked well. But I wonder if there are inserts that would work better than those.

    • @@ahmedkahramanoglu8988 Hi sounds like your on the ball as long as the comb runs through freely and not picking up skin then you are ok. If you have to push then you probably have to go longer bevel like the rebel. If you feel you need something in between you could try a b-evil

  • Hey Robbie. Really appreciate your shearing demonstrations. Just wondering if you could give your opinion on whether there'll be much demand for overseas shearers in 2021 and beyond. I've got back into a bit of shed work over here in Australia after being out of the industry for many years. I'm interested in shearing in the UK, so that I can mix shearing and travel. Regs Pete

    • Hi Peter I would imagine there will be a demand for shearers in the uk.

    • The alternative is much worse. The sheep are only delighted to get their coats off in the heat so they don't get fly strike or overheat
