Imagine having to go through Childhood, Teenage and Adult years by yourself with books of women who got happily ever after as princesses.
That was literally my life.
You were kept in a tower @@silentsplinter6032
Basically kids growing up on Disney and being told they could be whoever they wanted lmao incoming harsh reality check
@@TheMorrigan333why are millennials so determined they are different despite Gen X and every gen after that grew up watching disney? Even boomers grew up watching disney.
@@leoofchild8039 It’s more about the timeframe than Disney itself. Film and books pushing the idea “you can be whoever you want to be.” It was a big “theme” during that time period. That’s why a lot of millennials grew up dealing with depression and anxiety. The world wasn’t what we thought it was. I’m not saying it’s just millennials but a good majority affected by this situation are.
I feel bad for “teen Fiona” because I think she was expecting a bigger reaction to “our prenup will be binding”
I mean I would’ve laughed
i think they cut out a lot of the crowds reactions:)
I’m not gonna lie, it was really funny
I’m pretty sure they’re also recording the track through the personal mics, not just the cameras and stage mics so if there’s a big reaction that drowns out the singing they don’t lose that section of audio
@@shrimp.trap3 you're correct!!
That “todaaaaaaay” transition from the teen to adult Fiona is 🤌🤌🤌
Dude, kids on Broadway always blow my mind. Those two are singing with Sutton Foster and they sound amazing! Especially the harmonies and acting.
young Fiona especially blows my mind everytime I watch this. very expressive in both her voice and acting
I love the teenage Fiona Marissa O’Donnell
The second Fiona's voice is so beautiful .She sounds better here than in the studio version.
Yes, marissa
@Staggering_Stickbugs N o
A good childhood friend of mine! Marissa O’Donnell :)
"Our prenup will be binding" was so funny why didn't anyone laugh??
I think they mute the crowd during these performances
@@acelesbianmrcleanthere was a lot of laughing tho
@@chillinwithchivsthat usually happens when the audience is really loud
To have the confidence and desperation of a tween girl
@@chillinwithchivsthey sound like laugh tracks but idk
The Harmonies in this song are UNMATCHED
I was teen Fiona in my play of Shrek the musical, and the harmonies were so fun to learn!
God the acting- not even mentioning the singing- the acting ALONE from Sutton Foster is BRILLIANT and SURPRISING!!!! It’s insane how good she is.
this video has me laughing. my favroite part of this whole song is "are you there god its me fiona" and the ending of the song. i was laughing alot
not alot of people get that joke
@@superty6666 I don't get it
Its not really a joke, but more of how she says it. It's how desperate she is that Fiona, a character from Shrek, calls upon God for help. It's funny because you'd never expect her to do it, added with how she looks at the audience/sky
@@wmichel8919it’s a reference of a book “are you there god? it’s me, margaret” about a religious girl who feels like god has forgotten her
@@ckies4777 thats not the joke, its a reference to the book "are you there God, its me Margaret"
“7 shorties on the scene” that was more funnier than it should’ve been to me
8423/365 is about 23 She lived in that tower for 23 years! And she ended with 23 separate from the rest of the number! I love that. ❤
I thought she was like in her 30s tho? Doesnt she mention that she gets locked up at the age of 7?
@@orianamartin9161she would be 30 if she was first locked up at 7. 7 she enters the tower, 23 years stuck, making her 30 when Shrek rescues her.
@@orianamartin9161 Well, she clearly didn't get locked up as a baby, since she's only been there for 23 days when she's a child.
@@ashildrtheswift3028Also in this I think the teen Fiona says it’s been 988 days. Which is only 2.7 years, so presumably kid Fiona is 12 or so, rather than 7 Unless she says 98 which makes even less sense but it’s a musical about a movie about fairy tales so
@@DeathnoteBB Teen Fiona could be meant to be a preteen. Theaters usually cast kids a little older than what they actually what them to be for reasons involving rehearsal, what children can actually handle, and skill. So, if you see a teenager on the stage, they are often meant to be a little younger. So, if we assume that Fiona is an older 7 year old and hits her 8th birthday a month or two after the tower, and round 2.7 years to 3 years, then that puts the second actor around 11 years old. Which… actually would make a bit of sense. 11 is a tricky age for child actors, so the director probably just went for a skilled teen actor, figured no one would do the math anyway, and called it good enough. Basically, usually when a script calls for a non-main character to be a preteen, it’s probably going to be a teenager. Or even an adult that can pass for a teenager. Might not always be very authentic, but authenticity doesn’t matter if your child actor gets overwhelmed and quits in the middle of tech week. You’d be surprised how hard these rehearsals can be on little kids - no matter how experienced. Having a teen or adult play the role is less risky and healthier. That first girl probably didn’t go to as many rehearsals or left early a lot of the time. She likely had someone checking in on her frequently and a parent backstage during rehearsals. Also, children need separate dressing rooms and a very different approach to rehearsals. Also, if the play goes on tour they have to set up education for any kids and bring parents. It’s a whole thing.
The harmonies at the end SEND me! such an amazing and underrated show!
Child Fiona is actually insanely talented for someone her age!!!! The control she has over her own voice is incredible. She's going to be such a successful performer when she's older
But yes she's good
The fact that 8423 days is 23 years and the beautiful harmonies of these talented ladies made me tear up😢 I can’t imagine being alone in a tower for that long poor Fiona 😭
Yeah I felt sorry for Fiona by the time 23 years have passed the isolation Nearly drove the poor girl insane
Girl- I’d be that crazed too if all I had were those stuffed teddy bears to look at every day 😂

Real
It’s so funny how she passes shrek, and waves, on her way to the tower as a child. When both of their sets of parents are treating them wrongly.
I was today years old when I realized Sutton Foster was in Shrek The Musical.
So many years without her in this show!!! You should watch morning person!
THE FIRST TIME I SAW THIS YEARS AGO AND HAD NO IDEA
I was today years old when I heard "are you there god" for the third time and heard "fiona", went "what" and found that THERE'S A MUSICAL ABOUT SHERK
Where did you know her from?

I never realized that Fiona was FULLY 30 when Shrek rescued her

Their voices together sound so good And so powerfull You can feel it
when you do the math you realize Fiona has been in the tower for almost 23 years
My only pet peeve is teenage Fiona is only like 2 years older than young Fiona lmao

Ok so whats crazy is 8,423 days is around 23 years, meaning shes been stuck there.for.23.years. (also that shes prob 33)
Does anyone know who played the younger Fionas? They are great too.
Leah Greenhaus as young Fiona and Marissa O'Donnell as teen Fiona.
8423 days -> 23 years
Thank you I'm so bad at maths
Oh my gosh, I've literally watched song a million times!!!!
This is how I b feeling waiting for God to send me a man
The King and Queen were monsters for doing this to their daughter (I know it’s fiction!!!)
Fiona’s such a sad character. She was so little when she was locked away :(
The king and queen are very shallow and scared of what people will think if they find out about their daughter
@@choppersworld5094If we go off the movies, it was more so because her father was afraid that the Fairy Godmother would turn him back into a frog if he didn’t let Prince Charming marry Fiona. Fiona’s mother actually tries to be understanding of Fiona’s choice to be an ogre and be married to Shrek. King Harold was willing to put his daughter through years of isolation and false hope just because he was scared of what people would think of his true appearance. Of course, you could argue that King Harold only did this because the Fairy Godmother “blackmailed” him by threatening to turn him back into a frog if he didn’t go through with this plan, but Fiona’s suffering still occurred due to his own vanity.

i was young fiona in sherk the musical i did in my chorus/drama class!
The harmonies are to die for❤!
I can’t believe this was in 2008! It’s aged well
Loved their performance
I think we got to sympathize with Fiona a little more in shrek the musical then in the movie all those years locked up in a tower guarded by a dragon the isolation must've been driving the poor girl insane and even though it was only 2 weeks I felt the same way during the covid 19 epidemic being isolated in my house for 2 weeks just about drove me insane
She still had so much hope… it was only day 23. And then 8,400 days passed “As years go by… uh oh”
