    • Most of the people bashing it were ignorant. They were, or do, think it's solely made for just dogfighting. They don't/didn't think of it's multi-role purpose and probably never cared to actually research what it's capable of. Also, the price of it's development was a big complaint, which is somewhat understandable, considering it's the single most expensive military development project in U.S history. BUT to get something the world has never seen, you have to pay the big bucks! Plus we already planned on exporting them, so we knew some of that money was going to come back in the long run. Now, my biggest question is who was the absolute mad lad that even thought a plane like this could work and brought it up in a meeting? 😂 Like it must've been some mad man at Lockheed Martin skunk works that had this idea that they could build absolutely anything lol and low and behold, they f*cking did it 🤣

A lot better at a variety of things, also much more modern. Just like the F-22 took lessons learned from the F-117 and in part the B-2, the F-35 took lessons learned from all of them. • There is only one weapon that can (probably) reliably hit an F35 and luckily it's a NATO system. The IRIS-T has a highly advanced system that has the capability to not only lock onto the IR signature of the engine but can lock onto an aircraft no matter which direction it is fired from, even head-on. Once that thing is locked on it's pretty much game over as the rocket can't be dissuaded by most protective measures and flies at Mach 3 for up to 25km. It's an incredible system that you definitely should check out. P.S.: Funnily enough the IRIS-T is compatible with the F-35 and can even be shot backwards from it, an ability that only the F-35 and Eurofighter Typhoon have with this weapon

  • That’s what was so incredible about the f-16 powerful one jet engine and also the sound is less as well but the f-35 is like the stealth bomber it’s undetectable pretty much they have vertical takeoff as well

  • I was in the Air Force as an F-35 mechanic. This jet is truly a magnificent piece of machinery. The more and more I learned about the F-35, the more and more this jet truly fascinated me with it's capabilities Side Note: These jets started at $160M per, and last I heard, were down to $80M per. From my understanding, Lockheed was able to streamline the production process for the jets, which played a major role in price reduction

  • Martin you can do vertical take off, after you hit hook/stovl there is a button on the big screen in the f-35 that says hover you hit that and you can take off only straight up and down

  • "Can you imagine living in one of these houses with an F-35 flying above you?" Don't have to imagine it. Happens all the damn time where I live. It sucks. People living square miles away from the airport were displaced because those zones are now uninhabitable due to the noise. I can hear them over 20 miles away. In those cases it has the opposite effect. The low constant rumbling has a weird lulling effect that makes it so you feel like you have to sleep. They fly them during work hours in the day so it's great having to do work when you have have this insane, desperate need to sleep.

  • It can take off vertically in real life but it practically never does. It’s designed to do a short takeoff, which is what the “STO” part of “STOVL” stands for

    • F-22 only has vertical trust vectoring. The NASA X-31 (experimental) had both horizontal and vertical thrust vectoring. I can't wait until that's implemented into a service fight jet 🙃 Check out that plane if you're not familiar with it. It could literally turn on a dime!

  • Where it looks like it’s trying to break the sound barrier. I think what it is is from what I heard is the plane is so advanced and the aerodynamics are very unstable and uses alot of sensor and computers to keep it in the air basically

  • Slight correction, you mentioned that the stealth coating "absorbs then deflects radiowaves", I know this is nit-picky but when a wave is absorbed you cant deflect it because it doesn't exist anymore, the plane tries not to include any flat edges on the panels and serrates them instead, when a radio-wave hits a jet it goes back to the sender and then they know where you are, the serrated edges direct the wave away from where it came. The stealth coating absorbs as much radio-waves as possible and then it goes off but weaker. Also I love how you say STOVL (Stove VL) XD, anyway, STOVL is different to VTOL; STOVL stands for 'Short Take-off and Vertical Landing' whereas VTOL stands for 'Vertical Take-off and landing'
