After 1 month with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 RTX 4070 version, I have a pretty good picture of what's bad, and what's good (there's a LOT of good, and not a lot of bad :)).
I'll go pretty in-depth about some things in this video, so I hope I can help some people out with this!

@@SlickyJeffy23 Thank you, i appreciate it :)
Thanks for this review! Just got my G14 (white) and been using it for almost 2 weeks now. It's my daily driver laptop for work and gaming. The build quality, display, keyboard, and trackpad are top-notch. I'm glad Asus just went sleek and premium with the Zephyrus this year, so it doesn't scream GAMING like other models. Plus, I can get 7-10 hours of productivity (light load) when I work outside. Love it!
Glad i could help! I love the white version as well, is looks so sleek :o Is it more like a white color, or actually silver? I havent had the chance to see one in person yet. While im sad that they took away the 4080/4090, this redesign really is something else. What power profile do you use to get that battery life? Or do you have a custom one :)
@@crimsontechyt The lid and body is more silver, while the keys are still white
Exactly, they name it white, but only the keycaps are white. The body is silvery-ish which I prefer more than just regular white. When using it on battery, the screen drops to 60Hz (about 50-60% brightness). I set GPU mode at 'optimized' so it uses only the integrated graphics on light load. I also set battery profile to battery saver. And yeah I can achieve amazing battery performance out of it! :) (The gray one looks dope tbh.)
Bro how much battery backup
@@crimsontechytthe white version easy dirty?
Love the video, by far the best review I've seen but i have question about g helper. when you removed ac it had the anti oled burn in technologies which was a pixel refresh afk screen saver and was wondering if that is still enabled in g helper?
Thank you very much :) The anti burn-in features are not handled by AC, but are rather built in to the display itself, and Windows settings. Inside AC, you can simply control them from 1 place. These settings are on by default, so you can install G-Helper right away if you'd want to.
Did you do any video editing with this? And how long does the battery life last for general productivity use/office work (Google docs, web browsing, maybe a YT video playing in the background)?
Yes, i edited this video on it actually :) Had no dropped frames with 4k playback and a couple of effects, so it's def good enough for my use case!
Hey really enjoyed the review! I’m looking to get a laptop for college, gaming, and some other processing work, and this looked like a really good option. I’m mainly trying to get some serious power in a laptop while having it look like more of a regular laptop does, which is what the 2024 G14 does perfectly. Would you recommend this laptop for what I said above or would there be any other candidates that can fare just as well?
Thank you :) If you havr the money for it, imo this is the best 14 inch laptop you can buy. It's slim, lightweight, looks NORMAL, and has a 90W 4070 in it, which is plenty fast enough for any modern game. I'd say go for it :D
I have been considering this laptop ever since it came out and I think this review (and your other videos) has finally convinced me to go for it. Thank you! I'm still on the fence about the 2024 G16 but i think the portability of the G14 will be better in most situations. (Also having to pay an extra €1.100,00 for the G16 32gb ram definitely hurts!)
Glad i could help :D Yeah the portability is such a huge positive for me too. I almost dont even feel it in my bag, and its really nice to carry around. I bet the G16 is really good as well, but i dont think there's enough of an upgrade to justify the price (except for the bigger display of course, but i dont mind it)
During typical tasks like typing, does the keyboard often feel warm to the touch?
No, it doesnt even get warm during gaming. There's a third fan in the middle of the laptop that keeps the keyboard and palm rest cool, so you never really feel the heat where you touch it :)
Can you make a similar video for the Zephyrus g16 (2024) rtx 4080 version?
Hey man I’ve been think about purchasing this laptop, is there any major concerns towards burn in or is asus able to combat this issue?
They're using Samsung panels, which retain all their anti burn-in functions from their previous displays, which means you could probably use it every day for 8 hours, and still not get burn-in after 5 years. A lot of tests have been done around these, and even in the cheapest modern day OLEDs, burn-in is basically non-existant during normal use :) Someone on KZhead kept an LG C1 on the same screen for 18 months, and still didnt get burn-in. And that's an OLD panel by now. THAT BEING SAID: I'd still auto-hide the taskbar if you're concerned about burn-in, or are a HEAVY user (screen on 24/7).
@@crimsontechyt thanks sm bro, appreciate it. I think I’ll stick to this laptop, im going to uni so it seems like the perfect option plus a little gaming.
Amazing review, I'm thinking of buying it but it's very expensive in my country, 2399€ with 32GB and RTX 4070. I will wait to see if some stores lower the price or if I can get it on a discount. Thanks for the in-depth review, it helped me to decide if I want this model or not xD
Thank you very much, glad it could help :) Yeah, the retail prices are def a bit expensive. I got this one as an open box model and only pair 1750 for it, so i couldnt pass it up :D If you can find it on a deal somewhere, i highly recommend it !
@@crimsontechytwhere you find that deal?
@@Noone-dh4bh Alternate.nl had 2 models available for 1750 a couple weeks back
May i ask you sir, how about the laptop temperatur. I have one with 4060 and i use it for gaming too but i think my laptop temperatur is hot espesialy in the midle up keybord, any sugestion about that sir, thank you
Keep in mind that AMD CPUs use as much thermanl headroom as possible, so chip temperatures at 90-95 degrees is normal! You could set a custom fan profile, so that it cools it more aggressively. The top part of the laptop being hot is normal, as this happens with every gaming laptop, but the keyboard and palm rest should stay cool to the touch.
Completely feels like a user review. Great job!
Thank you :)
"Having more control over things you buy is always nice." -Crimson tech, 2024. couldn't agree more!! Nice vids as always..
Haha right?? Thank you :D
now this is my kinda review! Gonna buy it definetly. Do you know if its possible to upgrade the 1TB storage
I'm glad you liked it :D Yes, the SSD slot supports up to double sided M.2 SSDs (so atleast 8TB)
@@crimsontechyt wow is there only one slot or can i add a second one (sry im pc noob). And if yes is it hard for a beginner
No, this one only has 1 ssd slot, so you'd need to either do a clean windows install on the new drive, or clone the old drive's contents, but that's kinda tricky 🙃
@@crimsontechyt alright but first i gotta buy the laptop 😂
@@tideypods4808 Haha, gotta start somewhere!
Bro yo uso mucho autocad y sketchup aveces lumion, para estar en una biblioteca crees que suene muy fuerte los ventiladores?
No, with custom fan profiles, the fans dont get loud at all, and temps stay pretty low :)
which taskbar software do you use? looks so neat!
TranslucentTB or just translucent taskbar in the Microsoft Store :)
Is it noticably hot when you use it on your lap? and does the screen wiggle a lot when using it like so?
No, the 3 fans keep it cool enough that i dont really feel it. If you have a full load (like gaming) for about an hour, your lower legs might start getting warm though. The screen only wobbles if you touch it directly. Its very stable during normal use :)
@@crimsontechyt oh thats good to hear, i really want to get this but ive heard so much good and bad about it. im still on the fence about getting either the 4060 version of this or the legion slim 5 14". Ive heard a lot of bad things about asus but theres so many pros and cons and its making me very indecisive
I havent encountered anything bad yet with Asus, and I've had 4 laptops from them so far :) The Legion is nice too, but to me it feels very clunky. The G14 feels like its built a lot better
Can you please do a compare to DM RG4060-15NA46?
does it get hot and do the fans make lots of noise while playing ?
The CPU does get hot, but that's just AMDs thermal design, which always wants to hover around 90-95 degrees. However, you will BARELY feel it on the chassis. The cooling system is designed to handle it, so the keyboard deck (except up towards the screen obviosuly) will not feel uncomfortably hot to the touch. The fans do make noise while gaming, since its a full load application, but not loud at all compared to other gaming laptops. If the noise is still too much, you could of course set a custom fan profile to change that to your liking :)
Do you have a strange crackling noise when running games? On my 4060, the plastic hinge of the display gets hot and it starts crackling
I only sometimes hear the voltage during heavy loads, but that only happens at the start while the fans start ramping up
Why Does asus g14 oled has no pwm screen flickering at low brightness? Since it is an inbuilt feature for oled displays?? Is your display special?
The G14 has built in features that prevent flickering at low brightness. It kind of is a "one of a kind" display, because i think this is the first time this technique has been used :D
Thanks for this review. I wanted this one cause it's nice, and portability 👍👍👍but for editing the g16 is the one to go. I have the g16 32 go ram and rtx 4060 👍👍👍👍 Thanks for all these informations
Glad it helped :D Very true 👌🏻
Hi, what about the thermals under load? Does it get too hot? cpu gpu temp?
During gaming the CPU doesnt get hotter than 90-95 (so normal for AMD laptop chips), and the GPU doesnt go higher than about 80 during gaming. That's in the normal Turbo fan profile, so you could get those temps down if you want to by running the fans at a higher speed, but there's not really any need to. It's very good imo :)
@@crimsontechyt Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'm trying to decide between new omen 14 or this. Though omen 14 is a slightly slow performance wise it seems to run cooler.
The Omen looks REALLY nice. But imo it's just too little performance for the price, especially compared to the G14.
@@crimsontechyt agreed. :3 but ever since the Asus fiasco I'm still unsure about rog.
Great review Thanks
Thank you, glad it helped :)
Love this in-depth revisit! How is the battery holding so far?
It's great! Being able to change power limits really helps to make it last longer :)
What mice did you use at the beginning of the video?
The Razer Deathadder V3 Pro
how much battery life can i expect with normal usage?(watching videos, office, etc)
8-10 hours or less, depending on your power profile, brightness, and use cases :)
You would lose performance, since the CPU and GPU in your G16 are a higher wattage than on the G14. There are some tradeoffs :)
@@crimsontechytseria un cambio notable? Esta g14 se me hace miy bonita y portable
The 4060 is around 10-20% slower than a full wattage 4070, so that's up to you if it's a noticeable downgrade in performance. In all other factors (except the screen size), it would be a very nice upgrade though :)
I wonder about the battery life if I use it for work (office and web browsing) 🤔
Its really good! On my custom silent profile i get around 8-10 hours :)
Can u do a compare with macbook pro m3 😭 im confused i need best speakers and best screen. I dont know wht is the best one. Haha
For that i would honestly just choose the OS that you're most familiar with, as that's the most important thing in any laptop. I dont currently have any M3 macs, but im planning on getting one soon to review it :)
@@crimsontechyt ❤️
Does a 4tb/8tb Ssd fit in the g14?
Yes, double sided drives fit as well :)
How is gaming on this for fps, is the screen too small? Because im not sure whether to choose this or the bigger G16
OLED has near instant response times, so for quick and fluid motion, it's amazing. A bigger screen will let you see further easier though. If you only play close quarters competitive games like CS2 and COD, a smaller display is more than fine. But for bigger games like Battlefield, a bigger screen really helps you spot far away things like snipers :)
Thanks. I normally play league and fps like overwatch 2, or fortnite. So i wasnt sure which size screen to get. Since where I am the 16 inch comes with a 4070 too, and the 14 comes with 4060, but there is a big cost increase like £700 in UK
Oof, that price difference is not worth it imo. Then i'd go for the cheaper option :)
@@crimsontechyt thanks!
You forgot to mention the battery life, how was it? how many hours did it usually average at ?
With normal use (so word and internet browsing/youtube and stuff), it reached around 8-10 hours with my custom silent profile

@@crimsontechyt Anyways thanks for such a good video and review on it. Enjoyed it
Thank you :D
Thank you for this review, we needed this after a month to see if you still impressed by it or you were happy with the new device back then :D However I have 3 questions: 1. Does the battery still last long, or has its lifespan been reduced? 2. If you sit in front of a fan or outdoor with regular wind (not a storm obviously :D) will the screen wobble ? 3. while moderate/heavy use but not playing game, does it get too hot to touch ? because I heard heating is an issue with Asus laptops
Thank you. I'm glad i could help :) 1. The battery life hasnt changed, and because i had the time to test different power profiles, i could actually make it last longer, from running the cpu at lower wattages. The customizeability is very handy for when you NEED the battery life. 2. No, the screen doesn't wobble from wind or outside factors (i live in the netherlands, so i've had plenty of wind to test it out xd). The only time it wobbles is if you touch it yourself. 3. With the default power profiles (so turbo for example), the CPU doesn't go higher than 90-95 degrees (which is normal). With custom profiles, you could set the fans at a higher speed (with more noise, though), which will keep it cooler. But to the touch, only the part above the keyboard is hot to the touch. The keyboard and the part below the keyboard do not get that hot at all, so you wont feel the heat.
@@crimsontechyt That's awesome! thank you for your response, one last question I forgot to ask, would be a great decision maker if you help me with an answer hehe, now in my razer blade 14 it gets hot because im a heavy user, but when it gets hot I set my fans speed to 5400 and it cools down almost instantly, so the area where you rest your palms gets uncomfortably hot, but within 5 minutes of setting fans to top speed it gets cooled down that you actually feel COLD air coming out of the keyboard which what I really love about this laptop, so is it the same case when it comes to the new G14 ? or does it have another scenario ?
The Blade downclocks its CPU slightly when putting it on manual fan mode, so that might partly be why it cools down so quickly :) The G14 has a closed fan loop though, so you wont feel air coming out of the top through the keyboard. It does have 3 fans on the inside though (one that goes through the middle part of the chassis), so the keyboard deck NEVER gets hot in my experience (my Razer blade's chassis did get hot quickly, but i never knew why). If heat is ever an issue, you could simply set a more aggressive fan curve :)
@@crimsontechyt Awesome, I think I made my decision to give this device a try, thanks a lot for your help, looking forward for more awesome reviews you make, keep it up :D
Thank you, glad i could help :)
Hi, how long does the battery last like if I go to college would It hold up all day?
That's a tricky question because it depends on a lot of things. To get the most out of the battery, you need to do the following things: - lower screen brightness, and set refresh rate to 60Hz - Disable the dGPU by setting it to Eco mode - Use the silent profile (or a custom one) - Set the CPU power limit lower (like 25w or less) - Don't run heavy programs But it depends on which programs you need to use for school as well. I can easily get 8-10 hours of usage with these settings while using light programs like Edge, Office, etc. It should be good :)
@@crimsontechyt Ohh alright thank you very much, because I was just thinking of maybe getting one in the future
No problem :)
@@crimsontechyt Nice thank you, that's really helpful! For the CPU power limit, which one should I change, should I just set all 3 to 25w or less (SPL, sPPT, fPPT)?
The different power limits are a bit vague in meaning, so i cant really explain it haha :D I just changed all 3, but for a more detailed explanation for what each one means, i would look it up on google
screen recording lowers fps, record the screen with your camera during tests
I need it. If it has touchscreen then I can take notes
Unfortunately it doesnt have a touchscreen. The Flow X13 is VERY similar to this one, but it's 13 inches and DOES have a touchscreen. Maybe check that one out! (I also reviewed it)
Is it just me or is battlefield 1 super well optimized!? I remember playing it at Ultra 1080p 60+ FPS on a 1060 Max Q laptop - and the game looks better than most 2023 titles
I remember it running amazingly on my 1060 as well, it's just a great title overall :)
the only problem with this laptop for me was the stupid hinges/wobbles. I end up bought a used 2023 razer blade 14, and dont regret it one bit, the extra performance is welcome but the hinges is just driving me crazy
I only notice it if i physically touch it, but never during normal use or gaming :o
@@crimsontechyt yea but if I notice it, it wont go away in my head :D. The razer blade 14 cant undervolt though, but I can limit the power which I do to 60W and it still come out with 17.1k in Cinebench R23 @ low 80s temp. I suspect Razer will have a better resale value too, but we'll see.
Fan noise ? Battery life outside the charger brick? (games vs youtube)
My first review has more information :)
@@crimsontechyt i check it already but it has no battery life outside the charger and it has stationary fan noise , if lets say you work outside what would happen. Pushed to min fan option could lead to a heat. the rest 100% better than others has in its reviews
@goodstan1260 Thank you :) The battery life test/results are at the end of the video. It gets around 8-10 hours during normal use with my Silent fan profile, Eco mode, and brightness at 50%. During normal use, the CPU doesnt really get above 50 degrees, so the fans never really turn on. I dont recommend working outside if you live in a very hot country though, as 30+ degree weather in direct sunlight is bad for EVERY electronic device :)
@@crimsontechyt I check by time codes and I didn't see anything connected to battery life ;( so may be it was hidden in the other side of the review. My Asus ZenBook 14 (1165G) alwayse heat alwayse fun noise and without charger only 1h 6 min ...when I see reviews like 10 hours I'm shocked )) so it's first several months may be like that..I remember when I purchase it 1.5 years ago it was 3-4 hours at max . I'm looking around for a new laptop and this one seems a good choice or may be better wait Snapdragon Dell XPS ?
Windows on ARM is, unfortunately, still VERY unstable with x86 emulation, so i wouldn't go with snapdragon until they sort those things out. The XPS lineup is well built, but way too expensive for the little performance it offers.

Nice, I was able to get mine at ~$1,300. It was at a sale price of $1,450, and I got another ~$170 off by getting it Open-Box excellent condition. It was like new, with, as far as I could tell, just the seal broken, plastic wrap taken off the box and slightly cut off of the charger and possibly the keyboard sheet cover thing missing, but other than those minor things the laptop and charger appeared perfectly untouched and brand new! I really don't know what to do, Zephyrus G14 4070 32Gb OLED for €1899 or Zephyrus G16 4070 32GB IPS €1999, or Lenovo Legion Slim 5 14 16GB 4060 for €1199,- It is a laptop so I can game more around the house and friends/family trips etc.
The G16 has the bigger size, the Slim 5 has the cheaper price, and the G14 is the most powerful at the smallest size. If you like a big screen, go for the G16. If you'd rather spend less money, go for the Slim 5. I would pick the G14 over both any day :))
@@crimsontechyt only thing I didn’t like about the Slim 5 is the PWM flicker, and no VRR / G-Sync, I am really hating screen tearing. The G14 does feel kind a small when playing FPS games, or doesn’t? I am mostly playing cod on it, and sinlgeplayer open world games. The G16 I talk about got IPS, while I like OLED more, and the 16 got 240Hz while the G14 120Hz. I also got the new PG32UCDM OLED monitor and a 4090 desktop. the oled burn in for me is just a huge turn off especially when your spending alot for it to just last at least 2 years
Oled burn in is not an issue anymore like it was 5 years ago. There's so many anti burn in techniques on modern panels that it takes a LONG time to notice any considerable difference
"1 Month Review" you shouldn't tell us what we already know from previous reviews like the specs and stuff. Tell us about your personal experience using it for example how's the fan noise, battery life with normal tasks, anything about the G14 that annoys you, how hot does it really get under load etc. These are some of the information we are more interested in after someone uses it for a month.
I don't have accurate readings for fan noise, so it would be a very subjective analysis for fan noise unfortunately. I spoke about battery life in the full review, when i did extensive tests on it, but i should have repeated those in this video. I try to keep videos fresh each time, so that new viewers that may not have watched the older videos get all the info as well :) As for annoyances, i really didnt have any with this laptop! Normally i tell all the positives and negatives in reviews, but i actually didnt find any bad parts about this laptop after 1 month xd
@@crimsontechyt Fair enough. Does the fan noise drowns the speaker while gaming? Is it audible in normal tasks? I don't really need to know the decibels.
The fan noise is audible while gaming, but with my speakers at 40% with Dolby sound set on "Movie", the game's sound MORE than drowned out the fan noise. And it could get a whole lot louder, so that shouldn't be a huge concern. Of course headphones are always an option :D During normal tasks in Silent mode, the fans don't even turn on, so it's really quiet.
