"I agree that Ariel Helwani makes money off of Fighter".... HE'S A JOURNALIST! He makes money from being a good curator of information in his field, its like being mad at the news for covering 9/11 😂😂😂
Ye so you agree with no fighters, Ariel wouldn’t have a job. So you agree with paddy too
@@nickcarter6949 not particularly, Ariel has done incredible things for upcoming mma fighters over the years. Ariel has a very Symbiotic relationship with mma fighters, plus you gotta remember, when Ariel was doing mma fanhouse coverage over a decade ago, he was doing so completely out of pocket. He was featuring paddy on the mma hour when Dana White POINT BLANK said he didn't want paddy 4 years ago. Also, the irony in paddy saying it to DANA FUCKING WHITE; who pays professional fighters 3500/3500 show/win purses and is worth 9 figures, was incredible 😂
@@nickcarter6949 u think journalist should pay for interviews?? 😂
@@nickcarter6949 jon Jones didn't ask for payment for an interview. Neither did Conor McGregor. So who tf is paddy to them?
@@nickcarter6949 He would, because he covers other sports as well. Dummy.
Paddy is completely wrong, he made it seem like Ariel was wrong for getting paid for doing his job. Everybody who works within the UFC makes money off fighters. Paddy just wanted to suck up to his boss and decided to slander Ariel and it backfired. Ariel handled the situation excellently and Paddy dropped the ball massively.
Not to mention all the MMA channels that pop up or even this video could be considered making money off fighters. Should they all put money in a collective kitty?
Fighters get exposure talking to Ariel, it's mutually beneficial
There's literally nothing wrong with that that's literally their job Paddy is stupid why does he fight? Does he fight to entertain the fans and not get paid? No he fights because it's his job 😂
@jamsd667 how is that wrong? That's literally what Ariel is paid to do. So by that logic nobody should get paid within MMA. Paddy asked for money from True Geordie so they excuse is absolutely a bunch of nonsense.
@Jams D you're dumb bro 🤣
Paddy tried to dox Ariel, and he knew Dana would be more than happy to support him in doing so. He has to take accountability for that and Ariel has the right to respond to that however he wants too.
Spot on there mate
Well said.
What does dox mean in this context?

Paddy messed up and is continuing to do so. No apology even when he’s caught out.

An athlete trying to charge sports media money for interviews is literally unheard of. Graham Boylan is a small time clown, who's going to destroy Paddy's marketability if Paddy doesn't do it first by running his mouth and pissing people off.
If Paddy didn't name Ariel in his podcast then "this" wouldn't have happened. Dont blame it on Ariel being sensitive.

Big Mistake going up against Ariel. Ariel is basically a walking encyclopedia and I would expect him to wipe the floor with anyone who came at him in this manner.
I would agree with you generally that Graham should be taking the flak if it wasn’t Paddy who brought all of this up on his own podcast and straight up called Ariel a rat. Sure, maybe his manager is culpable for mishandling him and taking advantage but those were Paddy’s words on his own platform trying to gain favor with his boss, who happens to be the epitome of the very things he was criticizing Ariel for. No, Paddy deserves the criticism he’s gotten for this. He is responsible for his own words.
The manager should be investigated, he’s a manager for fighters and owns a company that relies on having a fight pass contract with the UFC
If you have him on when he’s a nobody, then him asking for money to come back on once he’s “made it” is actually fucked up
It’s quite an irony that out of all, Geordie is accusing Ariel for being emotional in his response to paddy
Paddy's manager is also in bed with the UFC who are broadcasting Cage Fighters (his organisation). So he can he pretend to negotiate money for Paddy from the UFC, when he's dependant on the UFC for money and has an incentive not to piss them off.
Don’t think iv ever seen someone make every wrong PR decision they could’ve made in a week where they actually WON their fight. Insanely damaged his stock this week no doubt

How did Ariel "blatantly out Paddy" on the Pat McAfee show? He didn't.
100 percent, he didnt, at all, not sure why ppl say this, do they not even listen to what was said?
You’re the reason I found out about Paddy, had him on for a watch along, disgusting from Paddy
Ariel has a decent relationship with mcgregor, maybe if conor turned on him like paddy did then Ariel would speak up but because conor is slightly more respectful so is Ariel
good point
Ariel is one helvuaaaa a fighter
Don’t get the point by Geordie about Ariel being nice to Conor to “protect the money”… Ariel going after Dana and the UFC was the BIGGEST risk to his money, yet he still did it as a true journalist. Could he have asked Conor more deep hitting questions, yes, but it’s not necessarily because he’s trying to protect his money
It's because Geordie is a McGregor hater now, the one who hates Conor no matter what
I mean yes and no. Him going after Dana doesn't really hurt his money, it just temporarily got his pass revoked but fighters and other mma figures could still do interviews with him away from ufc venues. I do think that subconsciously he wanted to insure Conor would come back and get that nice bump in viewership
I'm not saying he intentionally soft balled Conor but its like when you really wanna hook up with this girl at the bar and you just automatically laugh at everything she says. Its just instinct
Who gives a f if paddies from Liverpool, english always try to make where there from as an excuse ?? So many english are obknoxious loudmouths , so stfu and don't get butt hurt if someone calls you out for it. . . . .

But so is brian
Somehow, Geordie has 10-7'd himself.
Quite shocking but he has been taking Ls almost on the trot now
Paddy tried to have a media war with a media guru named Ariel Helwani.
Wow, what a head kick from Leon!
I find the notion that Ariel makes money off fighters completely redundant. Fighters make money off Ariel through exposure, especially when they are unknown. It's a symbiotic relationship. Of course Ariel should make money when doing such work. Why would he do it otherwise??! To be bitter about the fact that he makes money covering the sport is insanely stupid. Without the media the sport wouldn't be as big as it is today and fighters benefit off that. Admittedly I think Ariel could have reacted differently when asked for payment for an interview, and probably just declined and said he doesn't pay for interviews, and good luck. However Paddy behaved like a right twat on his podcast and his reputation has taken a huge hit. You just don't behave like that. Especially towards someone who has helped you early in your career. Disgusting.
Funny thing is, paddy actually owes Ariel so much for his hype. Also TG. They both had him on prior to being signed by the UFC. Gave him a platform for his personality to overhype him way more than he actually should be based on his skills. Guy legit will struggle against every top 15.
Spot on mate. But never let the truth get in the way of a good story eh?

Paddy's embarrassed himself with the lies.
Ariel is a liar too, People ignoring it for some reason.
@@Kingofthekop1 what did he lie about then?
@@adamburke3379 nothing, Ariel's just responding with facts.
I don't think Paddy lied and Ariel didn't lie either. The thing is Paddy doesn't have a lot of knowledge in the area of business and he's not that good with words either like True Geordie points out. He's a fighter at the end of the day and it's his manager who deals with the business side of things, who has definitely influenced Paddy's opinions on Ariel. Paddy's criticisms of Ariel are unfair IMO but I don't see any evidence that he flat out lied even if he is a bit misinformed. He did contact Ariel to set something up but it doesn't mean he didn't wanna be paid for it as that's the standard his manager sets with everyone, and I think what Paddy was trying to say is why would he get an interview with Ariel for free when he can get paid for it, which he believes he rightfully should whether you agree with him or not. So, I don't think he flat out lied but maybe I am missing something here.
@@TheSm1thers thats what i thought as well. Paddy told ariel that he just does what his manager tells him. It seems like its Graham thats caused all of this drama.
His manager asking you for payment as well is actually very telling. Like Conor now, his name is bigger than his skill set. The injury layoff isn't going to help with putting this all behind him. I think there will be a lot of people hoping he (officially) loses his next fight. And, if he doesn't make the necessary changes it's guaranteed to happen. Putting him in the cage with any top ten ranked 155'er would be like throwing Nate Diaz to Khamzat Chimaev. I mean, how ridiculous would that be? 😄
Ariel gave soooo many fighters a platform away from the actual fight arena (octagon, ring or whatever) they’re known from…people forget that the UFC was NOT huge when Ariel was having 1 on 1’s with Dana EVERY EVENT, bcuz Dana knew Ariel as a massive help in that
And again, he did question Conor, but just like ANYBODY that’s going thru a lawsuit, they ALL say “no comment”…what is else can you ask after that? Without pissing off whoever is being interviewed
What accountability should Ariel take? I’m confuse here. No proper blame here for Paddy. Brian what are you saying. Ariel did what he did 10-8 for Ariel for humbling Paddy.
Right lol? It’s just a journalist job to make money off other people, no matter what industry they’re in
No, Ariel wasn’t disingenuous about his explanations at all,…this is by far still the most casual take days late, don’t like to be negative, but it’s true
true fan journalism Ariel can't be matched
First point off jump that Ariel indirectly makes money off fighters doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. Paddy accused Ariel, not his company, Ariel clarified. Just because Nike may have sweatshops out somewhere, doesn’t mean the teenager they get to sell them on Oxford street as a part time job should be taken to task. Ariel is paid by a company, that’s not being disingenuous, that’s laying out the facts. What’s more, so what if he is? it’s a symbiotic relationship, if not for Ariel and his contemporaries the sport wouldn’t be as big as it is. Media legitimises a sport, coverage makes a sport more widespread, fans want content. Imagine if the only time we saw McGregor was social media and press conferences on the come up, his meteoric rise wouldn’t have happened. Paddy made an ill thought out point to try and appease Dana and it back fired.
Thank You!! Someone who finally gets it. Brian clearly doesn’t understand smh . Media coverage is partly what makes sports what it is and what makes stars -STARS… They also missed out Ariel explaining that the moment he starts to pay for interviews - they can count him out of the business because it’s against all journalistic ethics
Exactly right
Well said. It’s surprising that Brian doesn’t get these obvious points. (Side note: I wonder why AH comes out all guns blazing when people make up stuff about him… do you think that *may* just possibly have something to do with him nearly having his career destroyed by Dana doing exactly the same thing? 🤔).
Well I think the reason why Ariel was so offended was because he gave Patty a platform when nobody else would or very other people were asking for an interview with him. And Ariel has always been the biggest MMA show basically. So the way he sees it is I gave you a platform when nobody else would and now that you're in the UFC all the sudden you want to ask me for money to interview you. So I totally see where Ariel is coming from and why he would be so offended but I do agree that I think both sides could have handled it better because now the bridge has been burnt and Patty won't be on the MMA hour
There is no pound for pound, the belt belongs to no one
Ariel spouts alot of facts
Jesus Geordie... Can you just stop talking about that damn headkick 🙄
The analysis of the whole "make money off fighters" thing in this video is so BS. Paddy was not making a technical argument about journalists making money off association with fighters, he was clearly arguing that this arrangement is exploitative somehow. Which it obviously isn't. Interviews are not movie parts, they're mutual opportunities for journalists to ask questions and fighters to present themselves to the world. Payment in either direction changes that completely.
If I see Paddy on different platforms being interviewed (outside UFC fights), I'll now be thinking he must of charged for this. I feel he limits himself by only doing paid interviews.
Ariel actually did address your issue about him making money for being a journalist and stated how ignorant that point is and why. You might have missed that part since I doubt you watched the entire video.
Paddy is 100% in the wrong, no way can you spin it.
This is why Leon is champion
Paddy’s time is worth a lot right now. He’s dominating. He’s got a short window to make as much money as he can to set himself up for his future, because his success and his physical abilities won’t last forever. So, sorry Geordie, I’m with Paddy on this one.
That you Paddy????
The company he works for BT Sport make money off fighters, Ariel is an employee. It doesn’t matter if his interviews got millions of views or just a hundred thousand, he still gets paid the same salary. So I don’t understand what Brian was trying to get at here
True Geordie: "this isnt about me, I wasnt involved" True Geordie then spends minutes talking about how the same thing happened to him...
Interesting geordie never said whether he paid for a paddy interview 😆
When are you going to pay Leon respect for the headkick Brian??
You’re comparing yourself (a random KZheadr who likes to speak on UFC happenings sometimes) to the most successful and established MMA journalist in the history of the sport. There’s a huge difference
The post fight interview was awkward AF
At least Geordie will hold his hands up and say sorry when he fucks up paddy could learn from him much love Geordie!
Ariel has never taken apart fighters unless they have something to say first. It’s ok saying he didn’t grill Conor but tell me other fighters he has grilled, just because there are things to grill them for.
Ariel said he didn't make money off clicks, not off fighters. And he never "When' on da Pah McAfee shoo an' inderecly blamed Paddy"
10/6 'Ariel 💪👃☝️
Paddy is becoming The Baddy. No one should be surprised at this character arc.
Where's my arc
True geordie even let him use his set up for free (I'm guessing) and still had to pay for a interview tf 🤣
Bottom line: Try as he may, Paddy is not Conor with his words or his fists. Simple as lol
Ariel asked to see if he was wrong or would pat agree and pat agreed
How To Ruin Your MMA Reputation In 5 Easy Steps: 1) Falsely Disparage One of the most respected journalists covering your sport... 2) All of a sudden Demand Payment for interviews (especially in the octagon right after a fight)... 3) Lie about demanding payment for interviews... 4) Lose a fight convincingly but claim that you won against a tidal wave of public & professional opinion… 5) Demand a fight of the night bonus for one of your most controversial & mediocre professional performances-
U talked about Ariel getting money from fighters, but u have to understand that it's a win win situation for both parties involved, they get great platform to speak and Ariel profits from them
Where's your usual sidekick Brian?
This is a good take on the whole Ariel/Paddy situation.
nah
I think we can all agree the cringiest part was when he begged Dana for the FOTN bonus. Scouse sausage
Ariel gave us so much quality entertainment with that epic OWN on Paddy Piglet. Loved seeing Puddle boy getting EXPOSED.
Do you pay for normal podcast guests like Ian wright or Eddie hall or adesanya?
Others also said they wont pay .
He said he didnt get extra over his contract " not he doesnt earn a wage if course he makes a wage he said conor or a rookie i get the same on that contract
I can’t find the true Georgie interview with paddy
I think it's a shame tbh. Paddy was promoting mens mental health which was great then attacks Ariel like that which totally contradicts his original message...
Yall missing how its unethical for journalists to pay for interviews, youre taught that on day one in college. Also in the rant, ariel acknowledged this could had been resolved over a phonecall
Maybe his manager asking you for money like he asked BT was because you were both the highest level of the ‘company’ asking for an interview. If you had a boss or parent company they’d maybe ask them?
Not even the point, no one gets paid for interviews
Seems like a misunderstanding. The managers involvement confused the situation. Paddy thought ariel was attacking him randomly because he didn't know the context of the managers dialogue with ariel.
Gotta love Ariel '10-7' Heelwani
This whole thing where Paddy is wanting people to pay him for interviews, is such a turn off in my opinion.
If he wants to get paid for his time that's up to him, but if Ariel doesn't want to pay that's also up to him, or more accurately the company that hires him. What's unfair is criticising Ariel for the way he wants to conduct his business, especially for covering MMA which is his job. I think it's equally unfair to say Paddy is in the wrong for wanting to get paid for interviews.
Never even heard of baby girl Paddy until she reacted to khabib's win over Justin on this very channel.
Paddy The Baddy Decision
Paddy will probably be in the WWE or AEW in 2-3 years....
He most likely might return to Cage Warriors Where he returns to get beaten by juiceheads.
So this was the podcast Ariel was talking about
I think ariel was right, sometimes taking the high road is all well and good, but sometimes ya gotta stand up to people. This was on of those times.
Amazing how contact with mcnugget is so infectious..... fuck integrity🤦♀️😔
True geordie shooting himself in the foot again
Ariel mentioning being asked to pay was completely fine. He didn’t name any names, there would not be any backlash against Paddy, it was talk between 2 mma journalists about practices within the industry and a happening. You’re trying real hard to maintain being in Paddy’s good books. The guys a mug, he brought all of this on himself
Ariel 2 - 0 Paddy. Dudes losing fans like he gains lbs
What you get in exchange for your time is exposure, which promotes your brand especially if you are on a top channel. Just don't do the interviews. In my opinion fighters are lucky there is a platform that they can tell their story. There wasn't previously, and private media was more controlled.
Whey would u go on someone’s show to be taken apart
GREAT discussion - always hard if you go against the 🐐.... Love Paddy's style but not a good move in media chess.
Ariel is part of the MMA media, so in a strict sense he makes money from fighters. Without MMA media, Paddy might still be in Cage Warriors or just another unknown prelim fighter in the top 30 of the division. He needs to take a step back and understand how marketing works. Or he might just be playing 4D chess because he's got more stories about him this week by calling Ariel a rat and telling everyone he obviously won a fight he blatantly lost. Maybe we're the dumb ones.
Paddy embarrassed himself asking Joe Rogan for money for his post fight interview
Lie is a lie, period.
Reporters get paid for their reporting. It’s no different in any other job. That’s like saying fast food workers make money off the back of customers.
But how would Ariel know paddy knew he was talking about him if they didn’t didn’t want to get paid for an interview?
Dana makes the most of fighters let’s be real 😂
