I have seen a few reactors mention this song gives them NF vibes. One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is the fact that Tom didn't curse once the entire song (very uncommon for Tom). Pair that with the balloon symbolism, the wasteland in the music video, wearing all black talking about mental health and being open and honest with the fans, it looks to me like Tom went out of his way to show NF respect with this song and video.

I feel Tom was paying a little respect to NF with the balloon imagery and relation to mental health. Hard to see how this would be considered a shot at NF.
Its definitely paying homage and not a shot. Right down to his cadence was homage to nf. Everyone just assumes everything is shots instead of thinking artist may respect each other. Rap isn't always a contact sport.

A problem I CAN have with reactors is expecting or wanting a specific thing from independent artists. They make the songs they need to. I see every release as gifts. Take them for what they are, not something else you wish it would be. When you have something else in mind, it makes it that much harder if not impossible to appreciate what’s there. Just my two cents. Appreciate your appreciation on this.
I love that Tom puts himself out like this so much, it’s heart breaking listening to how much he struggles at times but I’m hoping it will help other people when they hear it too 💚
My comment to Tom ------- Damn bro, I felt this at a visceral level and was brought to tears, for 2 reasons: 1st: because I don’t enjoy seeing anyone this depressed and I wish I could do something to help 2nd: because I’ve been there, not with fame but feeling that I failed my wife and 4 kids. Balloons is such a good song from Tom, and shows what he is really capable of, while giving us a look into his mind. Tom MacDonald is at his best when he's making personal songs that he pours his emotions into (Church, Balloons, Best Rapper Ever, etc.), or doing something creative and fun like No Good Bastards or No More Heart Emojis. He clearly has endless talent and the drive to create. His political songs are well-produced, but they're all the same message repackaged over and over.
Finally someone else thinks this. I strongly think Tom shines more when he's making personal songs, like you said. And his political songs are the same message over and over, with some minor questionable takes. His fields are a lot stronger in terms of being able to talk about mental stability and general health.
I agree.. but large platforms like his speaking the truth about politics is what we desperately need.

Mac took a couple of shots at Tom on Twitter, and it led to a series of rap battles where Mac got absolutely destroyed. Crypt seemed pretty upset about the whole thing at first, and, at least imo, clouded his judgement on a lot of Tom's songs

I felt this! I feel all his songs, but I feel this one deeply. In my own mental health journey, one of the things that helped me was to write out my pain, so I didn't keep holding it. I am hoping this is #TomMacDonald's way of getting his pain out. We are all the same underneath, like he said in #Castles. Money, fame, accomplishments don't make us happy. Peace is within. These are always my favorite Tom songs, the only songs I actually listen to, like in my car n actuammy jam to, not just watch n listen once to see reaction videos of the controversial shit, but this might be added to my song lists, my all time Favorites though seem to be his older stuff that doesn't get reactions too much but i think they're his best! I think in one of his live streams he kinda talks about the struggles on what he wants to make music on poltics vs others and how he struggles with keeping both sides happy, Personally I think both are valid but here is what I think of the people who shit on him for whatever type of topic he covers on politics: tom is not a politician and he doesn't need to let you or anyone know what the "facts" are, its really annoying that people think people who make music or art have this obligation to "speak the truth", tom is a guy with opinions that he is generally not scared to share but he isn't always this "fact spitting machine" that people praise him for. If he wants to talk about it, thats cool, but he doesn't have to and it can get pretty annoying hearing politics every single day of your life for some folks. other/personal stuff: I get it, politics suck, but sometimes Tom needs to let some heat out to be able to get into his personal stuff, to Tom and other people it sounds like you hate the message he is giving and want it silence. I understand the humble intention of not wanting politics but Tom is also not obligated to talk about whatever people want and this song along with "fake fans" are the reason he sometimes struggles to keep a smile due to people forcing what type of music he needs to do to make you happy. both points of view are good but I feel like the divide in what people want out of Tom is why I tend to dislike a lot of fam bases because fans think they know what they want, when in reality you dont always know and sometimes not every artist is for you all the time, some artist like to do as they please. and just to end it on another relavent note. Personally I love this song it humbles him in some areas realizing fame is not everything and im glad he is letting those negative emotions out in the way he wants to do so, I hope all the horrible things he has said does not come true because he has some serious skill and talent.
