We're delighted to announce the return of the ever popular WR8 family, in the form of the classic 2001 WRC Subaru Impreza, piloted to win the Driver's Championship 20 years ago in 2001! Any rally fan will will recognise the illustrious blue and yellow livery as one of the most recognisable in the sport, and what better way to herald the return of HPI's fan favourite rally platform than with a classic Subaru Impreza!
Underneath the officially licensed and famous replica Impreza body, the WR8 FLUX chassis is based on the HPI Bullet RC monster truck, which means it's massively tough and can take a real beating on- or off-road! The WR8 FLUX is powered by a massive 4000KV brushless motor and waterproof 3S-capable speed controller, delivering power through tough metal gear differentials and the fully ball bearing-supported 4WD shaft drivetrain of the Bullet monster truck. Combine this with WR8 rally-style suspension geometry, custom-designed shock towers and dampers, plus extra-thick sway bars for extra control! Top it off with high-spec, soft compound tires and authentic rally wheels and you've got an instant head-turner in your hands!
The HPI Racing WR8 is crammed with awesome features that enhance its durability anywhere you want to take it, including a high ground clearance, skidplate, foam front bumper, optimized rally-style suspension geometry, shock debris guards, mud deflectors on the chassis and much more. It's the ideal machine to race your friends on RC Rally-style courses and multi-surface tracks, or anywhere you like!
Like all HPI Racing RTR (Ready-To-Run) cars, the WR8 FLUX is completely pre-built: all you have to do is open the box, install the batteries and you are ready for awesome stunt action! All you have to provide is a 2S or 3S LiPo battery for the car, a LiPo charger and some AA batteries for the transmitter.

  • The difference isn't in the physical paint color of the Blue, it's actually in the way it's dried between color coats. The darker body Blue is oven dried. The baking makes the Blue a really hard finish and then the silver goes on top and no reaction happens between the paints. While the color looks darker and deeper, it's actually a pretty brittle finish. It looks great, but had a large number of QC rejects at the factory where it just wouldn't flex with the body. The lighter body blue (Same Blue) has been air dried and when the silver has been sprayed onto the softer surface, the blue has slightly reactivated. This is a much more flexible and reliable finish with a much lower QC rejection rate but has this more straight metallic blue feel rather than the Candy Blue effect of the first batch.

  • I prefer the darker one, but wouldn't be too bothered either way. That being said, HPI should have better quality control, having such a big difference in finish between two supposedly identical cars is not exactly confidence inducing in their QC. Makes me wonder what other things are so hastily put together (is there enough oil in the shocks, grease in differentials etc.). Not good, especially for the price.
