Thank you for no unnecessary music. Nice to hear the car and the dirt 👍
Yes I don’t like hearing all that music playing I love to hear the sound of the Rc cars and the landings. Music will make me just off of someone’s channel fast if it’s just music all the way through this channel rocks though. So don’t need to worry bout that here.
B-Rett always keeps it real.
100%
I know HPI had fell on some hard times over the past decade or so glad to see them back and producing some really cool stuff.
Too bad the quality gone to crap though.
@@Conceivedintheeyeofasecret I really can’t speak to the quality. In my 30+ years in the hobby I’ve only owned one of their items….came out about 10 years ago and it was a brushed on Road Nissan GTR R35. RTR and was perfect for me and now it sits on the shelf on display. I ran it like three or four times.
I owned their 2WD nitro buggy about 5 years ago and it was great. Their 4WD buggy at the time was pretty plasticy though.
But they haven’t produced anything at all lately. This car is 11 years old now
@@michaelinzitari and still its voted the best bar none… why change perfection
That dirt oval run and the 8th scale track run made me fall in love ❤
Man! Brad is a freaking straight shooter and doesn't baby these cars one bit!!! Always telling it like it is whether good bad or indifferent.
Man it looked so at home on the 8th scale track! Even had air control! I see an 8th scale rally class in the future😮
Yes please!
For sure that would be awesome
This is by far the best WR8 video I've ever seen.!!! 👍 👍 👍
One of my favorite RC's of all time. Mine is 1.5 years old and I still have not broken anything except cracks in the body. A total beast. There don't seem to be a lot of after market bodies available for it, so get extra HPI bodies when you see them in stock.
Have you run bodies other than the Impreza on it?
Another great speed run by Brett😆 Awesome car! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
😆"Rugged Rally Punishment in The Dirt!"😅🤣😂
Seeing it rip the dirt oval has me sold on it. Badass beater right there
This was your best video. I love how informative you are, you let’s us know the small things like the “E” clip. The editing was well done, and I agree with others, we love that you didn’t add music while you were driving. Showing the crashes is a great touch as viewers can level with it. They see it takes skill to control the car. All in all, this really makes we want to buy one of these cars. I’ll save the video for the future!
I have one and I absolutely love it! Now all I need is a sweet track to run it on!
Wow, didn't know HPI was still in the game. I remember the nitro Savage being a beast 20yrs ago
theyre barely alive, theyre just doing re releases at this point. thank traxxass for that
Man they still can't afford a responsive website.
These Amain reviews are great, and the reviewer is really good. It's amazing this is a retail shop which brings honest reviews on products they sell.
i need another one of these, they rip and the suspension setup its great.
Great review. Awesome driving. Loved everything about it. Thanks.
That looks epic guys!!
Hey there Brett, you really gave it the beans and I enjoyed every second of it and the took everything you could throw at it, awesome video 😊
Yeah it did, it's a tank! Nothing slowed it down but the heat. Some people have commented that it's better on 2S and the tires will last longer too. Sadly we didn't try it but should have. It's definitely beastly though. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies "Cool Crazy Car!"🤪
The WR8 is such a great electric rally chassis! I’m happy to see it’s back for sale and with a bugeye Subaru body nonetheless! These cars drive so well on an open dirt baseball field. It transfers weight like a real rally car!
As an HPI super nitro rally owner, this brings back a lot of memories! Thanks for the vid!
HPI always makes really tough vehicles. Glad they're back in the game! Great video!
IM so glad you guys finally have these on your website because it was almost impossible to find a good site to order these from! :)
It's finally here!! I've been bugging HPI for months haha
Aside from that motor mount and C clips, it looks like an awesome car. Wish 8th scale rally cars were a class near me.
What is wrong with the motor mount?
Nothing wrong with it, just a personal preference. I much rather deal with the horizontal sliding motor mount than the "rotate to mesh" style. There's a similar system in my HB Racing D413 and it just makes motor mounting a pain.
I love your reviews. A Lots of Love from INDIA
Greetings from Chico, California, and thank you for watching. -Brett
The C clip saved my rear arms after I spun out and went straight under a parked car 🤦🏼♂️ even with the stock pinion gear it's hard to get full speed in a straight line as the rear just wants to come around. There's loads of power from this motor 👌🏻 I was lucky enough to have the last ken Block fiesta from HPI. Fun car, loads of power and thinking of getting this body 👌🏻 great review 👍🏻
Such a great video that car rips
I have the nitro version and it‘s just awesome. Super reliable, too.
Awesome rc would absolutely love one of these….
ADORABLE BABY!!!
Nice rig love the look and seems the part they were going for.
I really love this review, thanks a lot, now I really undestand about this car.
Wow, tough car. Great video.
pretty bad ass! i love the track footage I was wondering how it could handle proper jumps. i am a little hesitant to buy HPI stuff, i've seen a lot of mixed reviews on quality and engineering flaws but this is a good value for the speed and size I believe
This is very fast and has very fast acceleration in asphalt. I am very impressed for real.
I have this car. By far my favorite, and funnest thing to drive on and off road.
I loved my first gen WR8!! It was such a great car!
All things considered, it’s bad ass. Definitely a drivers car. Meant for the dirt for sure. Great video!
WR8 is my nr 1 RC. Speed, sound, handling and especially the way she moves!
I run hpi rc's and am very happy with the performance.
I literally thought HPI was out of business again until this moment
Seems like everyone loves the WR8 🙂 in my opinion the mt/st bullet is a great car as well 👍
woohoo! I love me some rally cars.
I’ve got one and I love it! Super robust and well built with great materials used. If you’re considering getting one I would recommend a vynl chassis cover and a dusty motors cover to keep it nice and clean from dust and debris
Tried on mine but the thermal shutdown happen soo much faster. Decided to put on a turbo fan without the vinyl cover and no more thermal shutdown now
Looks very cool and much Power.
This, by far, has been the best video you guys have produced. I like the fact that you showed all of the accidents the rollovers and whatnot. For me, it made it very entertaining now I want one.😅
I had the kenblock version like 10yrs ago was a beast but the small wheels made it so hard to control in the air
Definitely a blast to drive! Proud owner of one as well.
sweet car
I only run electric nowadays but godamn a rally car needs to be Nitro or Gas so I prefer the nitro version. The smell, heat, noise and vibration combined with the dirt just makes it feel like you're running an actual rally car. Absolutely epic.
I have one. Like it a lot! Lot more easier to drive on 2s. 3s eats tires fast! 😁
That's a quick one woo 💨💨💨
Man that looks like a blast!! With a good 4s system that car would be perfect, I want two!
It’s nice to see that Shoenice finally cleaned up his act! ❤️
That would be awesome with functional headlights, but not a deal breaker. I had a full size 02WRX bug eye like this on and a 2004 STi. Loved both of them. Maybe I’ll have to get one…
Enjoyable, informative video. Well done. It looks like a nice rally car, and I agree on the electronics not being quite substantial enough. I'd put a larger motor and ESC in down the road for sure. Still....it's something I'd have a blast with in parking lots.
HPI was my first truck. I got a Firestorm and loved it so much I saved all my money for a nitro Savage. I eventually swapped the nitro motor for an 8S set up using the Kershaw Direct Drive. The thing is an Animal. 80+mph, standing flips, and it weighs about 25lbs. Been a shelf queen for the past 3-5 years because i was scared to break parts with HPI looking so down and out. I hope they are back for good.
This HPI WRX IS NUCLEAR! Barbenheimer dream car!
I fell in love. They don't have it here in Slovakia and even in the Czech Republic. But I will buy this car because I am a Subaru fan. Thanks for the video
I have this car. The subaru wr8 flux but its not driving right now because I’m waiting on parts. I just need parts support. The car drives like a dream!
I don't know if it's the gears or tires (or both), but it has a cool sound to it. Castle 2400kv 4S setup would be perfect for this.
Does this have a gyro standard at all? The way it drifts is cool!! Debating whether to get this is the ptg2R by LC racing?
No gyro. -Brett
Super 🆒 RC 🚗💨!! Very flat handling + fast & RELIABLE AF 💯👍👍
i have this on my list! i want it so bad!
😍😍😍 great subi
Mine absolutely rips! Ive replaced some parts only due to bad crashes (my bad) but otherwise its been solid and a ton of fun.
I think you guys should make an rc slingshot with ofroad tires
Reminds me of my Kyosho Landmax based off of the old Inferno buggy. Mine has a 4 stroke engine, three speed transmission from a monster truck and all the titanium, carbon fiber and anodized aluminum parts I could find. It's a shelf queen now. Probably have $2500 in it!
Really nice
Dope
Nice save....I was waiting for the impact, but at the last moment you turn hard left....😊
That was a close one! Thanks for noticing. I stabbed the brakes and let off at the last second, and turned out of it. My heart was racing after that one. -Brett
Honestly surprised how well it does on the off-road track.
This is the same car as the WR8 Flux Ford Fiesta Ken Block that came about about 9 years ago. I owned one and it was the most fun I've ever had with an rc car. And that's coming from a long time sponsored racer of onroad and offroad. I regret getting rid of mine. Looks like I'll have to order one of these from Amain 💪 Those are the same tires that came on the old car. They're soft and scale like but don't expect them to last long doing huge drifts on pavement on 3S. I ended up finding some hard compound chinese tires on Ebay that were amazing
Yooooo that’s amazing!! Great video fam. You need to review a hpi Vorza s truggy… best ever ever ever 💯💎⭐️
Brett make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen when you are out there soaking up the rays :P
Cool
It’s either I want this or wait until Traxxas’s new Raptor R Pro that is coming out this August. Decisions man…too hard to choose one
very nice size for a rally car
“Where at the track of our local, (silence) where at the parking lot of our local track” lol😂 I love your channel man you have excellent content. Please keep it coming, and keep up the good work. I just had to pick on you over that. My bad😂❤my local track sucks.
Just bought one as a result of this video! Are you guys going to be carrying more spare parts for it? It seems like the body is basically impossible to find, aside from ebay which has it listed for over $250 :O :O
Who else is here because cen released a 1/8 rally similar to the wr8! Also where was A Main when hpi released this car under the Ken Block craze??
Yeah looking to pick up the Cen racing m sport Puma!
Good, mine sounds like that too, it's soo loud amd fast
it's no more 1/8 scale than the Losi TEN platform. The Bullet platform, on which the WR8 is based, is 1/10 scale. The only thing that makes it 1/8 scale is the huge body, which should be pretty accurately one 8th the size of the real car. That aside, it's a magical platform, absolutely amazing. Needs upgrades (front/rear hub carriers, steering knuckles, some links), but those are easily and cheaply sorted, ebay china specials are perfectly fine, better than the official HPI upgrade parts in fact. The stock tires are amazing. The drivetrain noise is something that needs to be experienced, pure metallic music. Absolutely love my Ken Block version, a keeper for sure.
Rerelease of the 2012 car with a different body and tires correct? How cool is it after all that time the performance is up to current standards.
I need this
Hey brett. Nice video. And very fun car:) I have this car but with Ken Block (rip) body. Can i use this body on my rc?
Nice, switch the gearing, lower the ride height and go for the 60mph. I’m thinking maybe it can do 70
That thing is freakin sweet. Love the body and platform. Tons of suspension travel which is what rally cars should have. I don't like the touring car based rally cars because of this. This is much more my style. That motor needs a heatsink for sure.
I want this❤💪🏾
If there was a law against RC abuse, you would be doing hard time. LOL! Great vid.
sorry but the KEN's Block Ford Rally Body was the best ever is being released. Once you have the WR8 ken's Block boddy you never look back.
Ha Brett do one of the the T MAXX’s
not that I have a clue , but adjustable fr9nt rear bias would he fun . and does pc NOS have any place in servo cooling ?
Can you do a review on the nitro rally car please?
Unfortunately no. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbiescan we get a side x side with the Cen racing 1/8???
@@AgentBert_83 We did in the CEN video released yesterday. We swapped the tires too with interesting results. Here's the video: kzhead.info/sun/dbKQdrKgfqOsnI0/bejne.html -Brett
Need!!!!
This is the best driving scale looking rc car I have ever driven. I am beyond impressed with what HPI did with this vechile and am grateful they opted to make a fast scale vechile that can handle some offroad. There are far too few fast scale vechiles on the market and by this I am meaning real life car scale not desert racers. I tried my hand with the Traxxas Raptor R but like with many of their vechiles it is terrible to drive. At least in 3s which turns it into a cogging and surging machine. I finally got disgusted and traded it in. None of that with this wrx which is smooth as silk exactly like a real car, except better because the real one has a cvt transmission. It is geared perfectly out of the box and hits close to 50 mph which is more than enough for a smaller vechile. Just a phenomonal machine.
the powertrain on this HPI is bulletproof...the only shortfall is lack of tires, bodies etc.... Maybe they will increase invecntory of thees consumable items?!
You should have tried the car on 2S, I almost never run mine on 3S as it gets a little too powerful for its own good
Or at least 2s first to see how it performed then run 3s afterwards, before making a decision
Agreed. I use 3S on mine but have it set to only allow 75% throttle. Still feels crazy fast. It also over heats and shuts down sometimes if I’m really flogging it.
@@RobSchlegel I'm just curious, is 3s on 75% power quicker than 2s at 100% or don't you know ?
@@davidmellish3295 I’m not sure, I’ve never run it on a 2S. I’m guessing the acceleration would probably still be faster up to that 75%.
@@RobSchlegel No worries mate ,I was just curious. Also I'm seriously considering buying one of these,I keep going back and forth between this and the Infraction 3s blx. I was going to get the Infraction BUT I'm put off by everyone saying how you have to change the tyres every 2/3 packs and they're about £55 which is about $65\$70. The price of tyres is what has stopped me buying the Arrma and someone suggested this as an alternative. So does this burn through tyres as bad and are they as expensive? If you've driven both which would you recommend? How do you rate this car ? Any answers/ opinions are much appreciated, thanks
Did AMain just buy HobbyTown??? Let's GOOOO
Whats the wheelbase my guy?
It's 11.8 inches, or 300mm. -Brett
Can you do a video on the Hobao MTX please ?
Never heard of it but it looks interesting. We don't have access to that truck unfortunately or we might do that. -Brett
