  • It's always fun watching genuine new reactors become speechless in the process of watching their first BLACKPINK encounter. 🤣 I think you'd feel at home with BLACKPINK music especially their songs like How You Like That, Kill This Love, Boombayah, Dududu, etc. They belong to the YG Entertainment label that is very hiphop based so this song they wanted to pay homage to their roots. Hope you enjoy your journey with BLACKPINK and just ignore all the toxic fans who may come your way. Most of us are here for the music not the drama.

    • No other *kpop group* paid this amount of homage to Black Hip Hop artists and Black girl groups. From biggie's kick in the door to riri's pon to the 90's black girl groups Aesthetics, choreo and anti-drop chorus sound to the boom bap triple speed clutch in a double speed cadence to the english bars that are legit. They stayed true to the Genres they were portraying while adding their own Rock and roll women empowerment spice. A Pre-Release giving Homage to their Inspirations as a FIRST STEP for their Second Album. The first to many. Also... Straight to your dome... Dome arenas... A concert near you held in a dome arena.

Nobody else out there is doing what blackpink does. They’re almost not really Kpop anymore. They have kinda created there own genre and their own sound. You won’t be disappointed. The more you learn and listen to them, the more you love ‘em.

  • I have mad respect for Eric in this reaction, and his knowledge of hip-hop. The girls are amazing, but not enough credit goes to their producer, Teddy Park. He grew up in 90s SoCal and was into the hip-hop scene there, and eventually became a big hip-hop artist/rapper in Korea himself. After that career, he became one of Korea's biggest producers making tons of hits for artists, and eventually became involved with Blackpink. He is one of the reasons why I love blackpink's music, because I grew up in the same era as him and I instantly recognize the influences he puts in their productions. He likes to experiment with all genres (edm, pop, etc) by putting his spin on it. And the girls vibe really well with him. I hope you check out their music more. I thoroughly enjoyed this reaction and I'm glad blackpink impressed you giys. Really fun time!

    @randymyt@randymyt Жыл бұрын
    • People actually say he is 5th member of blackpink and nobody is mad about it. I realized my music taste usually goes towards YG entertainment when it comes to kpop then I figured your Teddy is the real mastermind behind it. He deserves as much credit and blackpink seems to respect him the most.

    • Totally. He's the backbone to BP's sound and musical style. You def feel/hear it in the rap lyrics. Sometimes it almost seems like he took lyrics that he probably would've written during his 1TYM days, and just threw it into BP songs. From the references to the 90s ("90's baby, pump up the jam), the bravado ("middle finger up, F-U pay me), and the gun bars (D4, "whatchu gon do when i come through with that that uh...uh huh").

      @Organized82@Organized82 Жыл бұрын
    • @@Organized82 yup, this exactly! I love the "Pump Up The Jam" line for lisa. Others may not know the reference of that song title, but the fact that i know it because i listened to it back in the day brings a smile to my face. That's the reason why i'm not only a big fan of blackpink, but a big fan of Teddy and his productions as well. To me, blackpink is an amazing combination of the talent and hard work of the girls, and their trust in Teddy and his love for the music scene that he (and i) grew up in.

  • So the musical references here are pretty extensive, Jennie starts out with a reference to Biggie's famous line "kick in the door, wavin the 44"(Jennie says Coco). Next Lisa references Rhianna's "Pon de Replay" with "One by one and two by two" and also 50 Cent's P.I.M.P. with "you can't get a dollar outta me". Rosé and Jisoo both reference Taylor Swift with "look what you made us do". Finally, the Jennie/Lisa rap verse is backed by a sample of Ice Cube/Easy-E's part of "Gangster Gangster" by N.W.A. They definitely weren't shy about shouting out their inspirations/favorite artists in this song.

I thought "I'll see what kpop is about even though it won't be a big deal cause I listen to enough American pop." For years, I assumed kpop was just pop music. My only knowledge was Gangham Style which I was NOT a fan of. Finally in 2021, working from home, I decided to try and widen my music range. I was SHOCKED that these girls rap. • I just have to echo Eric's words at 9:30 . I'm a New York regular guy, always been into rock and rap, K-Pop sounded like it would be cutesy girls all dressed alike and singing in high pitched voices. In 2016 I saw a tiny article about a new group to check out called BLACKPINK (they looked pretty) and from the first song my mind was literally blown. It was like finding out that a new flavor existed that had always been there but no one had ever told you about. Hand to G*d I've listened to BLACKPINK almost every day since then, they're that good. I've also gotten into other K-Pop artists, mostly from their label as their company has an urban, hip hop edge, try BIGBANG's *BANG BANG BANG* , you'll like it. They're very good too, they're known as "The Kings Of K-Pop".

  • now that it has been 6 months ago and you are Blinks now, you need to do this again with cc on. Jisoo is actually playing the Geomungo in the beginning (she also plays traditionsl Korean drums, some piano, some guitar, and ukelele). Jennie's line "Kick in the door, wavin' the Coco" is both a brag about being Coco Channel' IT girl and homage to Biggy Smalls line "Kick in the door wavin' the 44". Lisa's first verse starts with homage to "Pon da Replay" by Rhianna and a line from a 50 Cent song "You can't get a dollar out of me" as well as a brag of how influential she is around the world when she says "I can destroy the world with a flick of my finger" (she controls an army of 90 million feverant fans on IG). Rose's first verse "We've already taken your soul, look what you made us do" as she holds the still beating black heart in her hand will now have so much more meaning. Jisoo's first verse she says, "We're so beautiful, it's brutal" is both true and an afformation. Jisoo's line about a pink ocean has to do with the ocean of pink you will see at their concert when they have the crowd do the wave with their pink hammers. You really need to do their live performances at Tokyo Dome (especially the DDDD Remix), Blackpink Light Up The Sky, One or more Blackpink guides, and LiliFilm 1-4 and LiliFilm The Movie (all shorts of Lisa dancing and can be done in one reaction) make sure you do LiliFilm 3 last as you may not survive it.

  • Great reaction. Blackpink is a deep deep rabbit hole to fall into. Four legitimate superstars in one group combined with the greatest producer in Kpop, Teddy Park (former rap star in Korea). Lisa's (the Celine rapper) MV Lalisa came out last year and broke the 24-hour view record by a solo artist (74 million vs. Talyor's Swift's 63 million), and that isn't even her best solo song, which is Money (all English all wrap, 650 million views in 10 months). Lisa, who is actually Thai, is considered the best female rapper and best dancer in Kpop and has more IG followers than any Kpop star, male or female (80 million). She is typically included in the most beautiful women in the world lists, named the third most beautiful woman by British magazine Nubia. Jisoo, the regal looking one in the blue scenes, was named by Nubia as the Most Beautiful Woman in the World for 2022, widely reputed to have awe-inspiring beauty in real life that the camera fails to fully capture. Jisoo reps Dior and Cartier. She has a unique deep singing voice, second best in the group. Jisoo is also a highly acclaimed actress, who was the star of a 13-episode Kdrama last year. She is a heavily sought-after actress for movies and dramas, so she doesn't need this Blackpink gig. You would think with all that talent and beauty and coming from wealth that she would be arrogant, she is actually the comic relief of the group in real life and has a very humble personality. Rose, the blonde, who is actually Australian, is the Taylor Swift of Kpop, singer/songwriter/guitar-piano player with the best voice in the group. Her covers of songs are highly acclaimed, even by the original artists, including songs from Coldplay, the Killers, Oasis, and John Mayer. She has 2 all English solos that were very successful, critically acclaimed and broke many records. Jennie opened the song with her rap and rocked the ManU shirt, and is often rated as the most popular female kpop artist in South Korea (outside of South Korea it is Lisa). Jennie has her own solo project called "Solo" that has over 800 million KZhead views. She reps Chanel (the brand), ergo the opening line "Waiving the Coco" as in founder Coco Chanel. Even though Lisa is considered to be the best rapper in all female Kpop, Jennie is actually the Main Rapper in Blackpink. All the girls are very humble and down to earth which is why they have such a devoted fanbase.

    • @@deernini Actually, you can have whatever preferences you like. But certainly there are many people who choose Lisa as the best rapper and prefer her rapping style over the names you listed. And, conversely, each of the people you named have fans who think of their faves as being the best. There's no science to it. It's a matter of taste. Trying to invoke the fake "main" ranking as evidence of anything is just wrong. YG has never confirmed any ranking of the rap line. (It would actually be dumb for a company to announce that it has two rappers and then label one of them as "second best"). It's just fans who are obsessed with making up main/lead/sub rankings who go everywhere repeating it so much that they mistakenly think that there is a ranking. When they debuted in 2016, literally the only thing that YG ever officially said about positions/specialties is that Jennie's specialties are "vocals/rap" and Lisa's specialties are "rap/dance". That has never changed. YG never talks about main/lead/sub ranking nonsense and the deluded fans who think the members are ranked against each other can never point to any official announcement or statement from YG or the group. All they can do is say they heard the word "main dancer" once on a tv show or thought they heard someone say "main rapper Jennie" on another show (when it turns out that it was actually "rapper Jennie"). Or they go to sites like Kprofiles or Melon for info, even though Kprofiles acknowledged that they didn't get their info from YG and Melon (which has erroneous info about a lot of things) also doesn't claim that they got info from YG on positions. Like whomever you want. Prefer whomever you want. But don't use the fake main/lead/sub nonsense as proof of anything.

    • @@TEAM__POSEID0N I understand it’s about preference but you threw a statement out that Lisa is the best rapper as if that’s fact when really it’s not. What I’m saying is that without bias, Lisa does not have technique and flow that the rappers I mentioned have. Yes, she has swag and charisma and can rap well, but just because you and a few blinks think she’s the best rapper doesn’t mean she is. Most blinks agree that Jennie is the best rapper and Lisa the best dancer because of their positions in the group and because technically, Jennie’s cadence, flow, pitch and tone have all been complimented by rappers who react to BlackPink, as opposed to Lisa being complimented for her swag and stage presence. People tend to confuse charisma and presence with good rapping. No, Lisa is amazing at the stage presence game but Jennie owns the rap game.

  • I love your honest reaction, you remind me of the old me bro. Btw, I'm a Metalhead. Because I used to hate K-POP so much,, I'll be honest with you. Whether it's a boy group or a girl group, they are really disgusting to me. especially their concept which is like, you know. . they look like they want to make you want to throw up. That's what makes me hate Kpop. Well, in 2018, I saw a Kpop GIRLGROUP called BLACKPINK with the song "DDU-DDU-DDU" on KZhead and at that time it was trending no. 1, I'm curious and I'm trying to watch why this GIRLGROUP can be trending no.1 on KZhead. After I watched their MV, it turns out that this girl group with the name BLACKPINK is very different from most of the girl groups I know. they have a unique concept, like their name is BLACKPINK,, they have a black side like SWAG, BADAS, SEXY, CONFIDENCE, SAVAGE. and PINK Side like CUTE, and PRETTY. I also can't lie about this GIRLGROUP they really are something else. and I'm very interested, and I also didn't expect myself to enter the world of KPOP and become a FANS of this girl group, namely "BLINK" (Fandom Name of BLACKPINK). If it wasn't for BLACKPINK when they were trending in 2018 with the song "DDU-DDU-DDU", I would probably still hate KPOP. I will recommend you: 1. BLACKPINK - DDU-DDU-DDU 2. BLACKPINK - KILL THIS LOVE 3. BLACKPINK - HOW YOU LIKE THAT If you've watched the MV that I recommended earlier, try to check the live performance: 1. BLACKPINK - Ddu du Ddu du (Remix) live performance at TOKYO DOME 2019/2020 i SWEAR this gonna BANGER. no cap. bruh 🙏🤘🔥 BLACKPINK IN YOUR AREA 😎🤘🔥🖤💖

  • !!!!! ERIC !!!!! As a hip hop head, I think you will appreciate the first line of the song where Jennie says “Kick in the door, waving the Coco”…. They are paying homage to The Notorious B.I.G.’s 1997 hit “Kick in the Door” where in the chorus, he says “Kick in the door, wavin' the .44”! Jennie is the biggest brand ambassador for Chanel. In addition to her Chanel clothing and jewelry she is wearing in the video, you can see when she says this line, she is holding and “waving” an actual $30,000 Coco Chanel bird cage handbag! So she is waving the “Coco” instead of a .44!! (Kind of embarrassed I even know this!). 😂 By the way, you may have also noticed Lisa saying “One by one, and two by two”? She is paying homage to Rihana’s lyrics in “Pon de Replay” as she is a big fan of hers. This is a new style for them. A little more hip-hop and less EDM/pop then their previous 6 years of music. You MUST review their older stuff which is less hip-hop but still hits hard and is catchy stuff that you want to bounce and groove to. Their videos each have 1 BILLION+ views!!! Also try Lisa’s solo stuff. She has two…. “Lalisa” and also “Money” which is all in English and is more hip hop. “Lalisa” is up for VMA next week for her song “Lalisa” as best K-Pop video of the year. The band is also now up against people like Foo Fighters and Maneskin for Best Group at the VMAs as well as Best Metaverse Performance for their 100% CGI video that they released a few weeks ago in collaboration with the mega game PUBG Mobile. Here’s a great live concert video you MUST do next. They did a live (no audience) concert during COVID called “The Show”. It is great because they have a live band with tons of electric guitar and real drums, etc. Try this one first as it really rocks and is one of their biggest hits called “Ddu Du Ddu Du”!! kzhead.info/sun/i9aTiNiQqnZ6dH0/bejne.html Your should also check out their studio and live versions from that same virtual concert (“The Show”) for “Kill This Love” and “How You Like That”. You will hear their songs a lot now in US pop culture and movies/trailers. If you like the HBO show “Peacemaker” with John Cena, he references BLACKPINK. The are also playing in the background of DC’s “Justice League” when Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) is visiting The Flash. PS- My wife and two teenage boys think I am crazy! 😂. They don’t understand the appeal. I usually like country, rock, metal, etc. I got into K-Pop through discovering Blackpink about a year ago, and I have never been so obsessed with a band. I don’t quite fit the “stereotypical” BLACKPINK or K-Pop fan (if there even is one?)…. I am a 48 year old straight white American married man and father! They are all so unique, talented, and beautiful/sexy in their own ways. Something about their personalities and their music is so addicting. They even had reality show called “Blackpink House” were you get to know them. I am obsessed, and probably need an intervention! 😂. FYI…. The last concert I went to was Disturbed, but I am hoping to see BLACKPINK on their new world tour in Newark, NJ on Nov 14/15 this year!!! They have about 8 US shows.
