  • (weenop) Hello everyone, since this video is seemingly exploding out of absolutely nowhere, I'd like to correct some inconsistencies and or errors I made regarding the timeline. These were mostly pointed out by fans of the series that noticed my mistakes, so much love to you guys. -Kasumi did NOT in fact return to the Mugen Tenshin village, in fact she never did. She was hiding out in the Hayabusa village during the events of DOA5, and retreated to the wilderness in DOA6 -The dinosaurs are DOATEC's fault -I may or may not have neglected to mention Kokoro and Helena first met during the events of DOA4 during the events of her arcade mode. Credit to JBBelen Kokoro for pointing this stuff out Also, regarding concerns pertaining to the use of a certain word at several points in the video, I would like to clarify for new viewers that I, weenop of Brain Alert! (the guy who made the video), am a black man of mixed ethnicity.

  • I like your video on DOA as it's usually hard to find people who talk about it on KZhead aside from videos talking about the fanservice. However, you have gotten some facts wrong or missing some details. - Kasumi never returned to the Mugen Tenshin Clan, she was still considered a Runaway and a target. She was hidden in the Hayabusa Clan, only Ryu and Hayate knew it. - Kokoro met Helena in the fourth tournament, where Helena tested her and told her to talk to Miyako after the fight. Kokoro even mentioned meeting Helena two years back in the fifth game. - Leifang actually beat Jann Lee in the fourth tournament, but that is debatable since DOA5 was made after Itagaki left, so story elements were changed. - The dinosaurs are just genetic experiments from DOATEC. - Fun fact, Itagaki mentioned in a facebook post that his vision of DOA5 was supposed to have the Mugen Tenshin Clan be destroyed with Kasumi and Ayane as survivors and Miyako (Kokoro's mother) being a major antagonist.

Nyotengu is just probably doing this because she’s just following her whims and probably out of sheer boredom. Because she’s a Tengu, a Trickster spirit who can feel empathy and compassion for humanity while also being an absolute force of nature.

And Ayane also being the daughter of an exiled member of the clan Ayane would’ve been under much scrutiny. You know Ninja politics and stuff.

  • What I love about the series is its context out if everything. I like the mechanics and of course the graphics makes it a must play along the likes of Tekken/Street Fighter. But the story is why it diverges from other series. Its so cynical- ninjas, evil scientists, clones, big money fight tourneys, love triangles, grudges, fame, love, and all that good stuff. I love the continuity between DOA and Ninja Gaiden the most. It turns both experiences into a joint and since Team Ninja is good at making action oriented games it all just becomes a good time. I enjoyed this entire video. I hope you continue to spread love to this incredlibly underated series.

  • Really enjoyed this DOA take.👍Also, incase people didn’t know; in DOA5, Ryu & Hayate’s encounter, (where they trained) often gets mistaken and actually has some meaningful context prior, that ties into story of the two Master Ninjas specifically. To simply summarize for those who aren’t aware, Ryu’s focus wasn’t to fight Hayate, with the intention of settling things through that encounter, this often gets taken out of context. Ryu’s purpose for their meeting was to simply to help his best friend Hayate, learn from the same mistake; Ryu himself had made, in his past when he lost against Doku. (In the past, Ryu became angry when his village was attacked as well, so their training was nothing serious unfortunately) Ryu did this by taunting Hayate (as shown) similar to how Raidou did, in order to test, and see if he could stir up Hayate’s emotions that caused him to not fight with a level head, and not fight as he normally would. Which ends up happening (as shown.) This provokes Hayate to train with Ryu solely on emotion rather than, with a leveled head after being taunted about his family. This is why Ryu’s attitude changes at the end of their exchange and he gives his best friend Hayate a reminder “to control his emotions” in battle, which Hayate learns from and uses for defeating Raidou. According to the lore Ryu was simply speaking from experience and from mutual understanding on what they both went through. Ryu understood that strength wasn’t Hayate’s issue and (like himself) no matter how strong one becomes, for a ninja controlling one’s emotions is essential, especially since both are Master Ninja and head of the clan now.

Very well done video. I watched the entire thing, and learned some things I didn't already know. I gave you a sub, and might watch the Ninja Gaiden videos when I get time. As much as I love the DOA series (Seriously, they are by far my favorite fighting games), it's a shame how much it's been criticized just for having attractive women, and it's made TECMO mostly abandon the series. It's also a shame though how greedy and anti-consumer TECMO got with the series after Itagaki left. DOA 1-4 were complete games, and had no cosmetic DLCs. Meanwhile DOA5 and 6 have actual thousands of dollars of overpriced DLC. Also, I laughed about your comments about Honoka's MILK shirt, but they knew what they were doing. Honoka was created specifically to "milk" the fan base of their money with DLCs.

Infact, she was in hiding in Hayabusa village after DOA 4 and during DOA 5. That and he probably knows that while he may be "above" her, Hitomi would be *very* displeased if he allowed his *blood related* sister to be killed, for trying to both avenge him, and put an end to a major threat to the village. You would be surprised what decisions can be swayed or delayed by the fear of losing the faith of someone that means much to you. • Being one of the best channels, if not the best, to give this mad and brutal franchise its fair chance of immersion and actual exploration has earned you a subscriber. Already joined thanks to the Ninja Gaiden coverage, but this just seals the deal. Thank you so much for this.

  • Hulk Hogan is stage name, not the guy's birth name. Could be the same for Bass Armstrong, with Tina following the pattern. Or Itagaki cluelessly thought "Bass" is cool American name, we had character named "Fame" Douglas in the story anyway.

    • Itagaki probably got his naming ideas from SNK, the company with a famous villain named "Geese" Howard.
