    • @@arniikakuusisto7597 ...they aren't scared. What they are experiencing is a primal reaction to serpents. That reaction is to get away ASAP. It's self preservation and self preservation is never based in fear when it's instantly triggered. Out of all animals, cats have the best timing regarding the serpent reaction. To answer your question, it's funny af to me to see the cat so agile that it jumps out of frame. Sadly, I think you're projecting some sort of abuse towards the cat. It's not.

    • Thanks for your post. I thought it might be a fear of snakes. I once caught a little baby snake and put it on a bed. My cat at the time jumped up on the bed and his incredible, exaggerated responses had us all laughing to tears. This was before all these cucumber videos. Sadly, we had no idea, so no video was attempted. :(

    • I could test that theory. My cat isn't afraid of snakes. We have a garden out front that garter snakes like to hang out in. My front door doesn't have the best seal on it and a few times garter snakes have snuck in. They don't make it far because the cat likes to chew on them. They usually just coil up right there on the welcome mat probably terrified of the cat.

  • I finally tried it on my cat.Yesterday I bought some tomatoes, 2 cucumbers, 3 zucchini, and 2 red onions. Sat them on the bed next to her. She sniffed them, circled them, then just laid back down and gave me a "I don't eat that kinda shit!" look. But different cat, different story when I unfold the ironing board, hilarious watching her run away across the kitchen floor, gaining no traction.

  • I was going for a jog, and a snake cross my path right in front of me. It was the first time I've ever seen a snake in person like that, and I had a deep seated reflex to spring backwards like one of the cats in this video. I didn't feel fear at all, it was just like a reflex you'd get from tapping your knee, just pure reaction and no emotion. It was a very strange sensation

  • The mystery of why cats hate cucumbers is normally explained by the natural fear cats have towards snakes. To a feline's eyes a cucumber can look similar enough to the pesky reptile to elicit their fear response and make them jump a few feet in the air to avoid being bitten.
