Three of the Misadventure Crew tackle the final section of the Old Telegraph Track Cape York from the northside of Nolans Brook through to the southern side of the Jardine River
Those Land Rovers look awesome!
You can't please everyone. Glad to see lot's of people do like them though. Keeps us inspired to keep traveling and making more movies ;-)
Another great vid guys!
Don't often see north of Nolans. It is an interesting area with some pretty good camp sites. There were campers in the linesman hut also when we were there
Awesome stuff.
Looks like a great trip. For me kids and dogs are always on my mind when I'm in croc territory, so I liked the way there were many eyes keeping a watch on everyone. But hey danger and inconvenience are what makes it an adventure. As for that ferry, if it was twice as long they'd call it a bridge. None the less I'm in the 'pay the ferryman' camp when it comes to that crossing.
+Bill Blinky We really wanted to drive over the river and actually drove down to the edge and put our wheels in before thinking better of it.
+Misadventure 4WD There is no way the kids or I were going to stand out in the Jardine as markers. You'd have been on your own :-p Though maybe if it was the end of the dry season...and your life insurance was topped up ;-)
Drover doesn't actually have a long range tank but he does carry an extra jerry just in case. Don't think we needed it though on the Cape trip.
Love the sound of the D2
Black Betty will be back in action later in the year. Have been finishing the work on Monty our SVX Defender in the last 12 months and giving him a chance to build up a few video features. Hoping to have them both out on the tracks together in the near future to do some comparos live from in-cabin so you know how the driver feels wrangling both over the same tracks.
Thats a shame then. There will always be a next time :) ill look forward to any footage form your explorations that day :)
We didn't actually get to start it. One of the vehicles ( that shall not be named and shamed here) had developed a clunk from the rear just as we pulled up for lunch and when we went check it out before heading up Drury discovered that it was coming from the rear diff. Looks like it had sheared a tooth so we towed it back to Morrisett. :(
Seemed like a very short ferry trip lol. I would imagine there aren't many places to cross the Jardine there and/or it's too deep or too fast flowing to risk it even with full insurance and snorkel intakes.
People do cross it (and plenty attempt to) further upriver later in the dry season, but the base is really soft, and the exit is a dark and swampy...plus there are the really big logs with teeth to look out for ;-) They make the 1min $129 ferry ride look pretty good.
what's drover's fuel storage setup like in his D2? Gotta have long range tanks and a stack of jerries driving the dirty V8
Wondering who and why didnt like this video?!
Unfortunately Roxie the offroad dog didn't make the Cape trip but she did accompany us on our recent trip out to the Desert however we had to cancel our trip across the Simpson and circumnavigate Lake Eyre instead.
Hope you guys got through drury lane without any dramas
no more range rover sport in the mud?
Wheres the dog?I know National Parks and so on.
