I met him when he, late in his life, coached Fujairah FC in the UAE. He happily shook my hand en route to the training ground, big smile for a selfie. He came across as humble and genuinely decent. It was a unmemorable moment, just a normal fan meet, but for me and my two friends who had a moment with the greatest, a moment never to be forgotten. And I am English!!

Lo más loco de Diego es que aún sin que le des mucha bola al futbol sabes que lo que transmite no es algo normal, el dominio absoluto que tiene no solo de la pelota, sino donde va a ir y con que potencia y altura, el tipo medio que parece que hace física cuántica futbolística, es realmente admirable. Every time they played for their countries, they were nowhere near as good because the oppositions at the top level is much tougher and they both looked ordinary players Maradona used to make some of the best players in history look like school kids all the time, both at club level and at international level (Maldini, Baresi, Lothar Matheus, Gullit and all the others)

Jaw dropping, spine tingling and this was an era when he was kicked to death. Just think how much longer his career would have been with the more protection in today's refereeing. To my mind, and Messi has been a phenomenal player, but Diego could do stuff which made you think!! How did he do that?In his prime and injury free he was absolutely unplayable. For me, there's never been a player quite like him and never will be.

For all the comments I read about Maradona, one thing is nearly always missing. And it's arguably the most influential to him destroying opponents. The strength in his thighs are what allowed him to complete these skills and push away into space before the opposition were able to react. Maradona had the desire and determination to win from a child, and he did the work required despite his vices.

Messi and Ronaldo would never have had the longevity in the 80s nor would they have that many goals. Opposition used to target and butcher you if you were the biggest threat to them, and they always got away with it. Bad rules back then. Maradona way ahead of anyone else

When people talk about the greatest ever they need to understands that with Maradona you get the whole package. He was amazing team player. He was a leader in the pitch. He was a finisher, assist, had drible, fantasy... And think that in the 80s there wasnt the conditions that football players have nowadays. All the best equipment, pitches, balls, boots, etc. And today players are protected by referees. This guy played amongst the best toughest defenders that history probably saw. He won the serie A with small Napoli. He took Argentina on his back to glory... People that compare him to Messi, CR don't understand that Maradona didn't have all the great players around him like Messi always had in Barcelona and CR have had throughout his career. Put Messi or CR playing for a mid table team and see if they can take them to glory! Maradona is football! CR is the perfect athlete.

I have played football more than i can count. And the reason why I started playing this beautiful game is because of Diego Maradona. For me I think football started because of Diego. He just made me fall in love for this game. And since then it became my addiction. And now he's gone leaving his unique legacy behind, I don't think he died. He is and will be immortal. His football will live on forever and we football fans will always come here and watch his skills, moves, dribbles and goals to inspire ourselves in our lives and give us strength. I met him when he, late in his life, coached Fujairah FC in the UAE. He happily shook my hand en route to the training ground, big smile for a selfie. He came across as humble and genuinely decent. It was a unmemorable moment, just a normal fan meet, but for me and my two friends who had a moment with the greatest, a moment never to be forgotten. And I am English!!

The strength in his thighs are what allowed him to complete these skills and push away into space before the opposition were able to react. I have played football more than i can count. And the reason why I started playing this beautiful game is because of Diego Maradona. For me I think football started because of Diego. He just made me fall in love for this game. And since then it became my addiction. And now he's gone leaving his unique legacy behind, I don't think he died. He is and will be immortal. His football will live on forever and we football fans will always come here and watch his skills, moves, dribbles and goals to inspire ourselves in our lives and give us strength. No matter what's going in your life, how bad its turning out to be, don't worry. Just come here and watch him play as if he's here, doesn't matter how many times. And you will forget everything and leave out all the rest, all the shit things going on. Maradona will be eternal forever.
