The best player I ever saw to play the game. Everyone has their favorite and many very easily dismiss Maradona because of his incomparable stats simply for playing in an era that is completely absurd to try to compare with. Maradona is forever my goat because no one at all, nobody alive today, can provide me with video evidence of a player who was as capable as this guy was. I can provide you with a minimum of 3 or 4 things that any player you can't think of, never did. Because they can't. No one can also claim that any player not Diego Maradona could have taken his place and have Argentina winning the WC. Diego Maradona has no comparison because no other player that I've seen since, has or could do what he did. Literally no one else.

Go to Argentina and Naples and you will see he is bigger than Carlos Gardel and Che in Argentina. Story with Messi is that before the 2022 WC his jerseys were burning last 15 years and that has never been the case with Diego. Diego defines Argentina. Regarding the skill match THERE IS DAY and NIGHT difference between what Messi had ever produced vs what the world saw in 1986. Go back and watch his performances from Argentina Junior and Boca Juniors. Diego was literally the greatest player in the history of the world ever when he played in his teens. Messi on the other hand was nobody at that age. He simple just restored some legacy and pride with this 2022 WC win. Thats his story.

For me, THE best ever. However destructive it became, his mad side made him a very interesting character too. The combination of adversity he faced through hatchet men on the pitch back then, performing for his national team and also taking Napoli all the way takes the title. There’s not many people who’ve ever played who regularly won games on their own but he did. Crazy, fascinating wee man. RIP 🎖🏆

Не сравнтвайте нынешний уровень футбола, с тем что было. Для своего времени он был Лучшим из Лучших (как и Пеле). Это тоже самое , что сравнить нынешний уровень фигуристов на льду с прошлыми, либо нынешних теннисистов с прошлыми и т.д. И при чем тут - сколько титулов? Раньше не было такой таких тренажеров и тренировок для футболистов. Марадона тащил своим талантом от Бога, и вдохновлял миллионы, дети смотрели и желали играть в футбол. А щас столько футболистов-Месси, Рональдо, Раберто Карлос и многие и многие, но это уже совсем другая эпоха, и совсем другой уровень (профессиональный) футбола.

I can provide you with a minimum of 3 or 4 things that any player you can't think of, never did. Because they can't. No one can also claim that any player not Diego Maradona could have taken his place and have Argentina winning the WC. For me, THE best ever. However destructive it became, his mad side made him a very interesting character too. The combination of adversity he faced through hatchet men on the pitch back then, performing for his national team and also taking Napoli all the way takes the title. А щас столько футболистов-Месси, Рональдо, Раберто Карлос и многие и многие, но это уже совсем другая эпоха, и совсем другой уровень (профессиональный) футбола.
