Thank you for this video!
Clear and to the point
Thanks for your help info 👊
Fyi, replacing the regulator is not difficult--plenty of videos on it. You can also just replace the regulator motor (just removing screws and a connector) to make it an even cheaper fix. Thanks for a very clear and concise video!
Is the regulator motor the only motor inside the door?
@@DixT1 Yes, pretty much. It’s pretty obvious which one it is as it’ll be attached to the window regulator in the door. Easy to replace and a lot cheaper than than buying the full window regulator (~$50 vs $175).
@@Kalanimauimusic Thanks! I wondered if it was just the motor, since the regulator needs the motor in order to operate! I changed the master switch on the driver door and got all my windows to work---except the front passenger door! The fuses and relay are fine, also. I should be able to do this myself. (I haven't worked on my own vehicles for about 25-30 years now. I'm 74 now and just don't want to pay what a mechanic's shop wants, to do it!)
@@DixT1 It’ll be apparent if the motor is working or not if you remove the door panel and observe it as you engage the window switch. On my Jeep it was just a cheap, plastic retaining clip that broke, $6.29 to fix! On another car, I took apart the motor itself (just screws) and discovered corrosion inside which I cleaned; still working til this day! You can definitely fix your power window yourself (especially with KZhead)!
@@Kalanimauimusic Thanks again!!!!!
Good demonstration Thank you
Thanks a lot for share your knowledge in this matter ! the driver's window of my Skoda suddenly stop working. In the garage changed the switch and the fuse and bingo! worked for once. The next day, when I turned on the auto, the front windows were frozen again. Doesn't open at all :-( Maybe is the relay? (I'm going to try it). Again thank you for your time and explanation!
Well done, thanks!
You are freaking AMAZING!!! Thank you!!
Excellent video! I changed my side sliding doors on a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan for ones that have electric windows. My old doors did not have these. I'm looking for a easy way to run power to operate those windows. I have the old pigtails for both that run to the chassis wiring harness. That harness is not wired for sliding door windows. I'm thinking of adding the pins from the new pigtail to the old set of pins to the old plug on the van and adding a fused double hot wire and a ground wire to allow window control ONLY from the up and down switches in the sliding doors. No hookup to the rest of the electrical system in the van. Just hot and ground wires to the window switches in each sliding door. Don't ask why I'm doing this, I have a good reason. BTW, the sliding doors are manual, so no need to worry about automatic door openers, just electric windows. If you have any ideas on how to test the wires so I know which one is up, down and ground, I would greatly appreciate it.
Great video .keep it up
Your a great teacher. Could we schedule a one on one to assist me in working on my Excursion?

Wow awesome video!!
GREAT VIDEO , Wish you would do one on a 2009 Ford f15 4 door Front passenger window goes down but Not up .
Great video
Very nice video
Repairs involving trim are the bane of many, but if you take your time and see how everything is put together, how the manufacturer/designer thought, then it is easy and actually interesting. Thanks for this clip, imagine someone out of pocket stuck with a dead, open window and the weather is closing in. Few tools are needed for this repair, even just a test light and 12v battery.
That's me right now haha. Open passenger side window that won't go up and I live in a tropical climate and right now it's wet season haha. I'm very and I mean VERY unhandy but I'm going to do my best to work out why it's not going up as if I take it to a mechanic in town I'll get ripped off. You're so right about just take your time and don't stress about it. Eventually you'll work out what the problem is thanks to KZhead.
Me with the PW relay in my hand but can’t test it? Only driver window works but auto works too. Tried switched relays … to be continued don’t want my disabled placard to be stolen!
A test light can ruin switches. They are designed for sensitivity to low voltage and current and are not always protected from higher voltage or current. An incandescent tester can spike a 1 amp current as it makes a connection.
Thank You !
Educative. In east Africa we say Asante
Is it possible to use a 9 volt battery for the relay troubleshooting relay?
Thanks very much my symptoms are the same go up delay go down.both front windows.
Awsome I found a burnt fuse. Now I will test new switch.
Great video! My left rear power window gradually stop working... is it possible to stop working that way with fuse problem? it's not window regulator/motor, not switch, not mail switch... (I'm asking you here because I'm away from my car at this point). Thank you in advance for your advice!
Brilliant!! Indeed 😊✌️
Fantastic! Ty sir
Very nice 👍🙏
My relay slot blew and I now don't have windows that roll up/down any temporary fix ? Currently driving a 2000 ford taurus
thank you
At min 7:24 when you applied power to those two terminals *if the relay is normay closed type (NC type)* you short the relay because there's continuity between those two prongs when the relay's not powered... those two prongs are terminal 30 and terminal 87 that connect to the *controlled circuit or load* and usually you can tell because they're wider prongs....the other two prongs are terminal 85 and terminal 86 and they bring the ground and positive (control signal) to the relay...
Hi I have a question I have a 2013 Lincoln MKT sometimes the front passenger door switch doesn’t work and sometimes it does sometimes the front driver master switch for that right passenger door doesn’t work and sometimes it does
My driver window switch stopped working and cant find a replacement OEM switch so I bought a universal switch and relocate it to next to mirror switch on dashboard and used some old speaker wire that I had laying around but now the motor only clicks wanting to go up or down but when I connect the motor straight to power with the factory wires it goes up and when I the wires it goes down, so could it be that the wire that I used is too thin
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you kind sir
Yah- - After Hour 3 trying to do the window regulator on my Toyota Solara, and was shop baited by online prices that were 1/3 of the actual price, and because now the price is three digits instead of 1/3 of that, going to test the switch with a multimeter. While I am sure it's the motor, it is an expensive gas so I want to make sure that it is the motor.
good video

An excellent Thanks
I have a 1994 Honda del sol and my driver side window does not work, I’ve changed out the motor, cleaned out harnesses, looked at fuses and relay and controller, I still can’t get it to work, I’ve run out of ideas. Please help
How did you determine which switch to pull?
I thank you for your detailed instructions on how to diagnose the failure of driver's side car window! I thought I'd start with checking the fuse. Sounds simple, right? The fuse puller I have is not that same kind you demonstrate. Mine is one you need to somehow jam with the strength of a gorilla into the fuse and that is supposed to open up the jaw end and grab the fuse. So there I was, an over 60 year old woman kneeling on the floor of the garage, leaning into the fuse box area, using my right hand (did I mention I'm left handed?) to try to jam the jaw end at the fuse I want to pull out. All I could think was what kind of a cruel ******** would design such a tool? I have fixed a lot of toilets, I have rewired a floor lamp, I have hung a door, but this has me wanting to jump off a bridge. For my sanity, I'm stopping this now. I'm going to bring my car to my mechanic to fix the window.
Thanks
I have a 2004 Honda Civic and my driver side window works sometime and my passenger side windows will not let up at all. What is my problem?
My dsw is stuck down. Switches are good, all other windows work. Fuse box said P/W 30A, there is no fuse in this slot nor a 30 a anywhere..how is this possible?
I can NOT figure out which fuse is for the power windows of 2020 Nissan Altima. I’ve checked multiple place and panel isn’t using the same terminology unfortunately
2007 mustang windows don't work. Fuses and relays fine. Bad ground?
