  • The fucking Bruce Lee flying kick. It's gold, but also if someone did that in my class we'd all crowd around and shame them for it. Endangering your sparring partner is not a joke when you're in the same room.

  • I had a guy run head-on into me, no attempt to divert out of the way at all. So, my natural reaction was to bring my hands up, which resulted in me just belting the guy with an uppercut from my bell guard. He fell over and landed on the ground, dazed. The best part was the ref calmly walked over to him while he was still lying on the ground, waited for his teammates to take off his mask, then bent over and showed him a yellow card for corps-a-corps. 😆

  • And the FIE wanted to bring back the forward crossover to sabre.... (granted, not the way it used to be allowed.... but still). Also... Kim Junghwan would like a word with you about not falling over in sabre.

    • Nowt wrong with the fleche if it's refereed properly: i.e. every cross step after the first, is preparation. It was the rule but instead we had tag by handbag swinging because referees wouldn't enforce the rules.

  • Épée’s my weapon and I had to stick to foil for four and half years before I was ever allowed to fence épée and I’ve been fencing épée for longer after that.

    • Yeah, I was wanting to fence Saber since I started, so I found it really frustrating to have to go up through foil, then épée, before I was even allowed to touch a Saber, but once I reached Saber I found that I actually preferred foil lmao

    • Stop talking about football and lacrosse. But seriously, I just added up the price to compete in a serious tournament which you would only do if you truly want to it's about 545 for basic average electric gear ready for tournaments, and not adding in shoes which you don't need because most use normal shoes which are fine, and factoring in cords, 3 saber minimum with actual full sabers not blades. Also, football on average for gear cost about 600, same with hockey, and lacrosse about the same as fencing. Also, most fencing teachers will let you borrow equipment, along with school programs, and you can get fencing gear for even cheaper too, and even better you can get foil and epee for even cheaper and still get the 3 weapons you need.
