Lewis knew how to beat shorter big punchers with ease.He used the same technique with Morrison,Tyson,and Tua.He pivoted off the right foot and jabbed them all night.He never let them get set up to attack.He kept changing directions confusing and frustrating them.With Morrison he countered and smothered him.Tommy psychologically knew he was f'ed after rd 1.,but didn’t give up trying,just like Tua.Lewis was a beast until he met Klitschko.

Lewis incredible skill. Tommy boy was well past his best here with a brutal lifestyle.

I remember in an interview after the fight Morrison said he wasn’t impressed with Lewis power. Unfortunately for Tommy, Lewis only needed his jab to win. He was completely outboxed.

Tommy should have done much better, he needed to be more aggressive to rattle Lennox & minimize that jab. He boxed with an incorrect strategy all night. He's a much superior boxer then his output in this specific match and well Lennox is Lennox.

This is the most delusional fight ive ever seen. Morrison was already beat before he enters the ring. At the point of his career he couldn't win against the dirtiest fighter of that era.

This was October 1995. Morrison tested positive for HIV in February 1996. That means he already had diseased blood in this fight. Lennox was lucky Morrison didn't bleed on him.

I was thinking Tommy needed to box like Tyson against an opponent with a longer reach, but Lennox beat Tyson. Still, boxing a fighter with a longer reach from a distance is guaranteed loss.

You had to intimidate Lennox if you wanted to win. How? Hurt him, like Mercer did.

If you're going to beat Lewis, you damn sure don't play chess with him. You don't wait around on the outside & let Lewis control the fight with his jab. He'll set you up for that nasty right hand. You have to change it up. When you're on the inside, you gotta throw FAST. Get under Lewis's skin. Make him trade with you. And, you gotta be NASTY. Lewis uses borderline illegal tactics: pushing & leaning behind the head, grabbing, holding & hitting. You have to counter that. Nobody wins a decision against Lewis. The way to beat him is to hurt him, mug him. His weakness is his chin.

Of course Lewis was better but in certain ways, I was surprised about Morrison. First of all, how did this guy make it to the ring? He had issues, a serious narcotic and alcohol addiction problems, We're talking about the hard stuff. He was also probably HIV positive at the time that he fought Lennox Lewis but he officially tested positive 4 months later. He had also used PED's throughout his career which was the only reason that he was able to get in shape. With his lifestyle I do not think that he would be able to get ready if he were PED free. By the way, I am not knocking people who are HIV positive because with today's medicine that can lower a person's viral load to undetectable, it would be positive for a HIV positive person to box even though the boxing federations would probably not allow it.

Folks will try and give every excuse for why Morrison lost to Lewis. The fact of the matter is, he (Morrison) fought the superior fighter that night. Folks need to get a grip. Morrison was still a threat at the time of this fight, so much so-I thought Morrison was going to win.

Let's keep this CORE REAL. Morrison was never going to be nothing more than a good B level fighter in spite of his left hook. He has THREE Things going against him. A very poor chin, lack of proper stamina and a very substandard defense. In the heavyweight division lacking either of these is a serious liability. Lacking all 3 is a recipe for eventual disaster and glorified club fighter status. He was NEVER going to beat Tyson, Lewis, Bowe, Tua, Holyfield or ANY of the top rung upper echelon heavyweights of that era for those very reasons. He struggled to beat an old Foreman, whom in reality he SHOULD have been able to KO, given Morrisons size, youth and power. But Morrison who suffered stamina issues, barely got across the finish line gasping for breath against a 40 plus Foreman. Once he was waxed by Mercer he was DONE as a SERIOUS threat and that was cemented in his stunning loss to the journeyman and unheralded Michael Bent who took Morrison out in less than 2 rounds. Lennox Lewis toyed with him and finished off what was left. Tommy was fine beating a slew of has beens and C Level fodder but the truth ALWAYS comes out when a fighter has to step up and face the big guns. Then he either gets exposed or he passes the test and keeps going up to the top to attain the prize. No amount of what ifs, maybes etc.....changes the REALITY that Morrison lacked the 3 most important qualities I mentioned earlier. If anyone takes exception to what I'm saying all I can say is : COPE.

He deteriorated very quickly if you watch his career and he had the same fantastic early career like tyson.

This was at the tail end of Morrison’s career just had one more fight till he took a 11 year break and only came back to fight to fight 2 nobody’s.
