What are your favorite Godzilla movies?
Up From The Depths Godzilla 1985, that was the movie that made me a fan
Shin godzilla
Godzilla final wars
Godzilla 2014 or final wars
Godzilla vs Destoroyah
I couldn't watch Godzilla vs Mecha Godzilla as a kid because I cried when Anguirus got attacked by Mecha. I was like "He thinks his best friend just went crazy and broke his jaw. ;-;"
Damn, dude. You’re right. That actually is really dark and sad.
Showa anguirus will always be my favorite kaiju

Well shit. You just made a fun movie into a very sad movie for me.

Lol, same here. Little tip: I introduced Godzilla franchise to my nephews through video games mainly. They were more open to watch the movies because they already know other monsters from the franchise, specially films like Total Wars. Now, everybody here is hyped by the new movie!
Ah same
I also try to get them to watch Godzilla movies, they’ve actually started to like them too
Lex60 I think you mean final wars
My family is not interested in Godzilla only my Dad and me
"Watching all 30 movies is a tall order." Me spending 30 years collecting the entire series.
That’s one heck of an accomplishment, congratulations. You’ve made us goji fans proud!
I've watched every Godzilla ever made minus the anime trilogy.
I've watched everyone at least over 6 times....yea I had no life as a kid lol
I have also seen them all... But not LIKED them all lol
I’ll just say it. (SPOILERS!!) Destoroyah grabbing Godzilla Jr. and dropping him down an airport made my heart skip multiple beats by how intense that was.

Biolante is fucking cool
I like the monster, I can't say I like the film though.
Biollante was so huge to Godzy but alas he still pounded that plant!
Biolante is the most awesome monster Toho ever created.
Loved this movie!
I love Final Wars, also speaking of the Japanese score. I am glad that King of the Mosnters paid homage to Godzilla's theme music. Bear McCreary did an awesome job.
totally, mothras theme especially.
Hey, Soundtrack KEITH EMERSON ! Dropping the F Bomb !
RIGHT ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME YEAAAHHHH
The end credits theme of Final Wars will forever been stuck in my brain. I could instantly hum it in correct tune any moment.
And it always makes me cry.... 😅🤭😭
Godzilla Vs Hedorah is sickeningly underrated. I'm a History major in college and it's a great film that deals with 70s culture in a hilarious and unique way. It's also super psychedelic!
The English rendition of "Save The Earth" (the opening) is embedded in my memory since childhood. That movie had so many eerie scenes that I never forgot. I remember for instance feeling scared for the kid when Hedora came out of the water and he lifted his knife up, and his knife sliced through the monster. The effect on me was probably greater because I was that age so always had an association with the boys in the godzilla movies. Growing up in queens New York, I played in places like that - where the water wasn't the cleanest - or other urban settings. I was the latch-key introverted kid just like the boy in Godzilla's Revenge. Being of the same age and the same time it was so easy for me to connect with these movies. Anyone from my generation understands this yet it's impossible to share it with with others because they don't understand the appeal of those early movies for the kids of that day. .
@@junodonatus4906 I remember I use to watch all these classic Godzilla movies on demand as a kid back in the mid 2000’s, I never knew 20 years later I would still love that same monster
I remember how weird that movie was, probably my favorite though with how scary Hedorah was.
it’s certainly very interesting, but i wouldn’t call it a good film to show a newcomer
Pretty sure it was the first Godzilla movie I ever saw and loved every moment of it ❤😊
tears up hearing that break down of godzilla vs destroyah... always will bring a tear to my eye
God I still remember my first time seeing that one. Never before had I been so heartbroken to see a monster die then I was watching that movie. And the emotional moment with baby Godzilla before hand was just an added kick to the feels.
Haven't seen the movie but I saw the clip. I stopped watching Godzilla for twentysomething years..then out of the blue Godzilla kept coming back..
I going to watch this flick because I love Godzilla and because I'm so sensitive I hope I don't t cry..I cried in godzilla 1985..I was 10 years old..I would probably be pissed off this time..I keep hearing about this destroyah..
That bit did bring tears to my eyes. I watched this movie after watching the original and a few others. It was one of the best I think...
Same I remember seeing that as a little kid I actually shed a few tears 😢
Kiryu is still my favorite Mecha Godzilla design, honestly
Fr tho. And conceptually? Built off '54 Goji's skeleton?? Metal fiber system built to mimic Godzilla's own muscles??? DNA bio computer coded off Goji's own brain????
Kiryu and his godzilla are my favorite godzilla and mechagodzilla for obvious reasons
I wish I had a Kiryu action figure growing up, would've been the ultimate against my oversized Jurassic Park T-Rex toy.
Epic soundtrack!
My favorite is super mecha godzilla. It is my favorite design. Plus, I grew up with it and it would kick kiryu's ass.
Glad to see Godzilla vs Biollante and vs Destoroyah given some attention. Those were always my favorite not only for their monster designs but for the emotional impact they had and the care given to their plots.
Ther are my favs too.
I’m glad someone else recognizes the genius that is Godzilla vs. Biolante. You have great taste, sir.

Dude really appreciate you leaving out those top 3 movies from the list but noting them as awesome. Thank you for the video!
The shots in GMK with the mushroom cloud is legitimately kind of haunting. It's a great movie.
I love it
Final wars is the most wonderful kind of fan service. It was as much a celebration of Godzilla turning 50 as much as it was a thank you to the fans for being by them the entire time.
Meh Godzilla vs destroyah was a way better ending than that pile of shit in my opinion
The Heisei era really did a lot in terms of trying new things and getting across new ideas. I think it helped that the characters are recurring and the series therefore has an overall plot you can follow. It makes it for me the most satisfying to rewatch.
the best part was its attention to continuity. the showa movies were loos with their canon and the millennium series basically rebooted with every installment aside from the two MechaGodzilla movies. Heisei era will always be my favorite
How do i watch free Godzilla movies ?

Same also its back story and how it affects the plot really makes it one of my fav big G movies of all time.
Godzilla 2000 has always been one of my faves
i just love how Godzilla knows the guy at the end was the one in charge, and kills him out of revenge and anger while letting the others live.
"The original Mechagodzilla is the best design" Kiryu: *Are you sure about that?-*
*coughs*
I always really liked Godzilla 2000. I thought his design was the best (save for Shin), and his atomic breath the best (save for, again, shin). Maybe I've gotten rose glasses for the plot, but I always loved that film.
I love Shin Godzilla! Burning Godzilla looks really cool, too. His eyes look so furious glowing red.
thats one of my favourites
I still stay Godzilla 2000 is cooler than Shin. Shin just tries too do a lot with him and in my eyes he looks like a burnt turd.

i did not like that entry back when i first saw it. It took 2 decades and the japanese, subbed movie to sell me that special piece of art.
@@SpriGgEx I liked both for different reasons. Final Wars is pure comic book fun, while Biolante is dark and horrific, like a Godzilla film SHOULD be. It was his inclusion of Megalon that made me go WTF??
Godzilla v Biollante has always been my favorite. I lost the VHS to Hurricane Katrina, but you better believe I scooped it up the day it was released on Blu Ray. I’ve been holding out hope that we’ll get a modernized version of her done proper.

Godzilla 2 King of the Monsters is a must watch!
I know
Yes it is
Really? I didn't like it, even as a fan
It's not a much watch but it's certainly a good movie
My favorite Godzilla movie to date!
Burning Godzilla was always my favorite design. I mean after absorbing pure uranium (if of course if you know about about it, is said to be highly unstable) his energy went out of control. Causing his molecules to break down on an atomic level (which is the only way Godzilla can truly be killed). Godzilla in this form was power going out of control. And it was so much that it killed him. People say it was due to him absorbing too much power but that's not it at all. It's the unstable nature of the uranium he absorbed that caused his meltdown.
Bro then king of all monster must of made you squeal cause I know I did
Even Though Physically. Godzilla Can Be Killed, But Spiritually, He Can't Be Killed ..
But he's an atomic monster. The whole premise is that he's constantly undergoing nuclear reactions. He's been unstable from the beginning.
burning godzilla is my 2nd favorite godzilla but my favorite is the legendary godzilla sorry but his design and strength is just amazing (sorry again)
We can definitely add Godzilla: king of the monsters to this list, that film was fantastic.

I like how many interpretations there are for Shindo's final scene. It really says a lot that it can be read in so many different ways. I take the position that Godzilla _does_ recognize Shindo on some level or another and that Shindo went in fully accepting or a least at peace with dieing by Godzilla's hand. Godzilla remembers and has some connection with Shindo, but he's been consumed by so much rage and pain since Shindo left that he can't look past that. Shindo, on the other hand, regrets leaving the godzillasuras. First for just leaving him he to die, then for knowing both the pain he inadvertently led Godzilla into and for all the death and destruction Godzilla's caused. He leaves his fate, the decision to pay for his "crimes" or not, in Godzilla's hands. And Godzilla knows him and sits in judgment of him. He may not feel Shindo _should_ die, but Godzilla's own circumstances won't let Godzilla let Shindo live. I find it touching and sad and really well done.
I knew Biollante would be no 1. That film is fantastic. All these films are great and I hope to watch them all one day. Thanks for making this list. You make Godzilla proud.
Really, I hated it.

Kong vs Godzilla will always be my favorite, the fight scene is hilarious. Terror of Mega Godzilla is a close one though.
Godzilla v king kong will always hold a special place in my heart. I got that VHS when I was like 8 and watched it non stop
That's a great list.... I would add Godzilla 2000 and Destroy All Monsters.
Destroy all monsters definitely but I'm not so sure about godzilla 2000
@@Saltyaf38 I think 2000 would be good too. it is the godzilla movie that accomplices the basics of Godzilla. Aliens, Military, and Godzilla
Godzilla vs Hedorah I thought was clever for its time being a kid back then myself. The first movie without Tsuburyas miniature set works. He had passed if Im not mistaken. The changing modes of Hedorah was fun. The introduction of Godzilla personality and not just rampaging. The emergence of being a protector. Of course the flight scene is over the top but we just watched many over the top scenes which are all part of his history. The music score was interesting and memorable. The frozen in time moment stare he gave the soldiers has always been one of my favorite moments. Probably the first wtf moment. I can hear him bitching in his head when the electricity messes up. Staying up late on saturday nights trying to catch a Godzilla film if I could stay awake as a kid was great fun. Vs Kong, vs Hedorah or vs Monster Zero. Those of us that have been on the ride all these years appreciate all the good and bad and just plain fun it has been. KOM was what I wanted to see in their live action scenes. The moment they referred to Ghidorah as Monster Zero the first time, i figured that more good references were coming. Growing up and growing old with the king of monsters keeps the inner child alive. No grandkids yet but cant wait......movie time!
@@rushfan9thcmd Both of my kids (26 and 17 years old) were raise on a healthy diet of Godzilla movies. They still are fans of them. My youngest is an avid fan of the latest "Godzilla earth" anime trilogy.
Excellent top 10 list and these are absolutely great suggestions....I just would have put Godzilla 2000 somewhere on that list. It is simply a great introductory film for Godzilla that has a classic, straightforward, Godzilla centric plot-line. It is one of the entries that works well for younger and older audiences. It is sort of the prototypical Godzilla movie that checks all of the boxes that any non-fan would expect from one of these films. It also works as a great double feature with Godzilla 1998, not in the sense that it is a continuation of that movie or connected to it in any way(although it is fun to imagine that baby growing up and mutating into G2K)....but in the sense that it is almost a direct answer to everything that film missed about Godzilla. Puts Godzilla front and center right off the bat, spaces him out well throughout the film, has a classic sequence of the military throwing everything at Godzilla and failing, and finds a way to be a 'Solo Godzilla movie' while also making room for him to fight a giant monster at the end.
I agree
I strongly agree 🙂Godzilla 2000 was my first real Godzilla film that I ever watched and loved truly in regards to Godzilla and Godzilla movies in general
G2000 is severally underrated. Easily one of the better movies as a whole. Most G movies have a lot of skippable parts but that one is great from beginning to end. Orga was a great bad guy. Plus, the new G suit was bad fucking ass!
Kind of wished 98 had two Godzillas or another monster to fight. Like one Godzilla is killed on the bridge but then a bigger, stronger one shows up.
It was also in some US theaters too I think.
I've loved Godzilla since I was a kid. I have a child of my own now, and one of the very first plush toys I bought him, was Godzilla. Gotta start 'em young. lol!

Like if this channel creator/narrator has one of the best voices for docu-style videos.
Shin and GMK are the two I most often show to my friends when trying to show them why I love Godzilla so much. Shin has that original Gojira mood while confronting modern issues, and GMK has great monster fights and interesting themes.
respect. althpough i like Legendary Gojira more, Shin Gojira is really decent. I want to see it fight destoroyah or another monster besides him
Godzilla portrayed as a force of nature is really one of the best things. Godzilla has tipped against nature, such as in Shin, and for the balance of nature, such as in the 2014 movie. I like that he isn't portrayed as for or against people in that one, and wonder if some of the bad guys get "corrected" by Godzilla in King of the Monsters.
I just discovered your channel. Our tastes are resonating. This list cemented it. Biollante at #1? Yes. Hell yes. Keep up the good work!
Yes, I agree with your choices. Because I’ve also watched them all too. But, I also like Godzilla vs the sea monster. Where he was a sleep on an island. Protected by a giant lobster. Always loved that one too.

Godzilla vs. Biollante is a very underrated film and I am happy he picked it as his #1. The special effects are great, influenced me as a kid to get into sculpture, and it still holds up well today. Has a great message in it as well!
Yeah, really gotta give Ikufube mad props for all his amazing work. And Shin Godzilla brings back many of my favorite tracks from across the whole series.
Dude, SO happy you listed Biolante as #1. That was the first Godzilla movie I was introduced to as a kid and nothing since has been able to top it!
I watched almost everyone of the "older" Godzilla movies over a dozen times when I was a little kid. I don't remember anything about the plots. The memories this video just pulled from the depths of my mind are freaking me out. How much more is in there that I have forgotten.
I see the length of the video and think "oh man. Too long for me to sit through". Then when it ends I'm like "it's over already?!" I probably would've switched out Final Wars and Megalon for Monster Zero and Hedorah. As many times as I've watched Final Wars, for some reason it didn't resonate with me. Even though it's an all star kaiju cast, they were all disposed of too quickly, as you mentioned. And, those actors almost give me a headache. Not the characters, the cast choices. Plus, some of the suit designs looked way too much like a human wearing a costume. Gigan, specifically. I always loved the Hedorah character. Especially its origin story. Even though that movie is flawed big time, Godzilla the hero vs the smog monster-alien really zeroed in on Godzilla as savior. Great video. Well worth the time spent watching. Looking forward to more.
Yyyyaaaaasss !!! I’m glad u added in Godzilla vs megalon ... thanks 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Godzilla Vs Destoroyah is a MASTERPIECE! also makes me cry, super emotional movie, I highly recommend this film for any monster movie fan.

I was about 6 years old when I first time saw the first Godzilla movie in tv. Loved it ever since, and saw all of them everytime when they aired. Now I'm 33 and I still love to come back and watch them all, either in original order, or just the favorite ones. Godzilla never gets old ❤️

One of my personal favorites was Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla mostly due to the fact that they used the original 1954 Godzilla's skeleton as the base of Kiryu. When Godzilla's roar awakened Kiryu's dormant mind and the real Godzilla came out it left a big impact on me. It was like the original Godzilla was coming out to reclaim his mantle from the newer one. Not only that but I thought the action was pretty awesome too.
I got my start with Godzilla back when I was about 4 or 5. I've loved the Big G ever since, and I am happy to say my son is also a fan of everyone's favourite radioactive reptile. I first introduced him when he was about 9 (he's 20 now) with _Godzilla vs Mothra,_ and he loved it! Honestly, I can't argue with a single thing you've said on this list. This is a great selection as a starter pack for people new to Godzilla.
I thought I was the only one who loved Biollante (did I spell that right?)! This is a great list!
alot of people didnt see it sadly
@@zeroiceice008 That's too bad. It was such a creative monster. Pretty darn scary, in fact!!
I always had a thing for biolante... great movie. Also loved Godzilla returns.
Great vid. As a personal favorite, I would have mentioned "Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster" as one of the top 5. I always loved Godzilla and Rodan teaming up together against monsters (kind of like another Batman and Robin). To me, it's one of the best (and is probably the inspiration for the plot of this years Godzilla: King of the Monsters. In any event, great list and great vid. Peace.
"The Return of" and the American cut "1985" is my second favorite Godzilla film following both cuts of the original. The sense of scale was done so well in that film and I'm happy you highlight Raymond Burr's monologue at the end, that scene was one of my favorites within the entire series. The conflicted mood at the end, the necessity to stop Godzilla juxtaposed with an empathy towards the creature and acknowledgement that Godzilla was a product of human error highlights the tragedy of the character.
I agree although that is my #1. No one mentioned the great opening and closing scores in that movie. He looks great and I do almost cry while they are all watching him at the volcano Love when he tips the building on the super x too Would of been great with another monster but that's ok
I’ve always been a big Heisei fan and Godzilla vs Destoroyah is by far my favorite Godzilla and even among my favorite films ever. The combination of emotion, action, visuals and score is nothing short of magnificent. I hope they save Destoroyah in the Monsterverse to fill the same shoes as before as the climax of the series as there would be no better fitting way to end it in my opinion.
I've only seen a couple Heisei and Millennium series films. Mostly I dig the Showa ones (and not even just the Godzilla ones... Stuff like Dogora, Battle in Outer Space, Matango, and Atragon are great) and Shin Gojira. I guess I'll have to try out these newfangled ones.
As a big Godzilla fan I remember back in the day when I used to wait for Godzilla marathon after Thanksgiving you pretty much nailed all the great good Godzilla movies thanks for the video
growing up in late 80s/early 90s my parents had a couple godzilla movies (probably for my other brothers) but 1 I always loved was godzilla 1985 (return of godzilla), idk what it was about that movie but pretty much the darkness used really made godzilla scary but so freakin cool lol. That and the music was amazing
Great list! Hard to disagree with your choices. I would replace Final Wars with Destroy All Monsters and I’d have to get Invasion of Astro Monster in there somewhere, but I LOVE the wacky 60s sci-fi Godzilla films 😃 Great channel, man.
DESTROY ALL MONSTERS !!! HANDS DOWN THE BEST FILM EVER !!!! ITS BEEN HIDDEN AWAY FOR YEARS !!!
Destroy All Monsters is my all time favorite guilty pleasure!!
I always remember growing up as a kid, my dad and I would go rent movies from Blockbuster on the weekends and I was always curious about the Godzilla films. The cover art made the monsters look terrifying, and when I asked my dad about them he would always refuse renting the movies by saying that they would give me nightmares. That only made my imagination go wild with what could be so terrifying about the films. Ironically I think I remember them more than the movies we actually ended up renting.
This is embarrassing but when I was around 8 years a Godzilla movie was on TV and I picked my mom to let me watch it. She was afraid it would scare me and she was right. Pretty sure it was Godzilla vs Megalon
It makes me so glad to see that you put Godzilla vs. Biollante and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah in this list. Those were both my favoritea as a kid
I consider Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster a significant film in the overall Godzilla series. Introducing fans and viewers to Godzilla's arch nemesis as well as the more heroic aspect to the character we'd come to know as the 60's progressed. As far as favourites go, Mothra vs Godzilla, Son of Godzilla, Godzilla 2000, and the og, Gojira.
Some people are not gonna agree with me but i think Godzilla Tokyo S.O.S. is a must watch
I'm new to your channel and I can already tell you're going to have good content keep up the great work bud
Time to update the list! My top 10 for now are Godzilla '54, Minus One, GMK, Shin Godzilla, Destroy All Monsters (because I saw it in an actual theater back in the day on a double bill with Yog, Monster from Space and it blew my preteen mind), Godzilla vs Mothra '62, Return of Godzilla '84, Godzilla 2014, Godzilla vs King Ghidorah '92 because it's so weird, and King Of The Monsters 2019 for its weirdness and because it has Rodan the way I always imagined it. I hope the new film is boosting your views, these reviews/overviews were excellent.
Wow, I need to go watch Godzilla vs Biollante now.
king of the monsters must be added. the first truly good godzilla from hollywood.

I agree strongly with this video, not all of it but alot of it. Great video😁
Great list brotha (just discovered your channel too and it's fantastic). Have you considered doing another Top 10 for "Must Watch" non-Godzilla/Toho monster movies? I think that could wield some interesting results.
