To try and act like officials dont have a major impact on the game is crazy. Last series Knicks and Philly, game 2, Philly got flat out screwed they were leading late off a missed knicks shot the ball winds up in Maxeys hands, he was fouled and the ball was taken and the knicks scored. And they went on to win. Instead of that series being tied up Philly is down 2 nothing and they never recovered, officiating plays a huge part in these games. And in back to back series, in crucial game 2, the knicks got major help. Its just not fair.

  • Let's get one thing straight. The most common play/violation when a player is attempting to get a rebound is pushing off/player on the back. Hart was trying to get a rebound and did push Haliburton in the back but not with bad intentions as Carlisle is trying to insinuate. If you're on the court, don't expect the Knicks to say "easy on Tyrese, his back hurts". I didn't see TJ slowing up in guarding Brunson when Brunson was hurt. Which fits somewhat of past pattern when a big media market team plays a small market team (see the 03 Lakers/Kings series as a particularly notorious example).

I think Rick's criticism makes people uncomfortable because there is no obvious remedy and people's reply will be something along the lines of "well, you didn't play perfect, so, you have no place to speak about the outcome...", which is complete nonsense. The calls at the end of game one ruined that game. I am not saying the Pacers would have won without them but we have no idea what would have happened and I think we can all agree on that. Just because bad calls/missed calls have happened before and a team didn't play perfect is no excuse to keep letting these stupid things happen and ruin a perfectly good game of playoff basketball.

It's like they don't care if people perceive it that way and that is alarming. The onesie, twosie mistakes are expected, not 30+ mistakes and the data showing that large markets always seem to have huge discrepancies with calls.
