In this video I created a ring from a 3D printed PETG ring. I added multiple small slanted inlays for the opal mix and copper flakes. It's a very unusual piece but I enjoyed making it!

  • That is the most unique ring idea I have seen in a while. Looks very nice.

  • my wife bought me for christmas a fire red opal ring from you, and i must say i love it to this day. you even rushed to make it for her. Thank you. Keep up the great work my friend, i'll wear this ring until the day i die. Unless of course i find another that i love. All your rings are super tempting haha. Thanks again! - Tristan

  • Beautiful ring! Just so you know, PETG has a habit of pulling chunks out of the glass bed when it releases. Maybe not an issue with such a small surface area, but it's better to add a layer of adhesive. I use 3DLac but a mixture of PVA glue and water also works.

  • Great to have you back! Your videos helped me figure out the details of making crushed-gem inlayed wedding bands for my wife and I, which is something I've wanted to do for about a decade, before I even knew her. Found your channel just in time (about 9 months ago). We'll be married 6 months on Saturday. I am very, very grateful for your videos!! Do you find the UV resin helps reduce dents and chips in the surface layer I'm getting with just the CA glue?

  • If you’re looking to get a better print quality keeping your printer in a warmer area can slow the cooling of the plastic and improve quality. I’d imagine if you’re remelting it wouldn’t make much of a difference though.

  • I have a question for ya @TempestRings,. Where do you source you're minerals from? I've been looking for the better part of the day, and all customer review pages have enough ppl claiming scam to make me hesitant.

  • Is that also for sale on website ? I’m about to pick my wedding band from your site will you do custom order as well like a mix of a couple different rings I looked at?

  • You could cast the ring with metal if you have a smelter instead of keeping the plastic. Could add rigidity and longevity. Afaik 3d printed plastics won't last long if exposed to humidity so this ring despite looking nice won't last for too long.

    @SneakyJoeRu@SneakyJoeRu3 жыл бұрын
    • I've printed parts that are completely inmersed for years now in a swimming pool, in plain PLA, and they haven't had any issue, so i'm guessing humidity isn't the whole story. Also these mask buckles that everyone used to print during the pandemic (me included) didn't fail either despite being in touch with sweat.

  • What a cool idea. Do you print at 100% infill prior to fusing in the salt?

    @moorejl57@moorejl573 жыл бұрын
    • Ya! It has to be 100% infill, if there is negative space it will collapse.

  • Why don't you use a resin printer? Quality is much better and precise. And for rings you can even use a small one that are only $99.
