Project: Dark Souls ▶ The Complete Story of the Dark Souls Trilogy

2019 ж. 24 Жел.
1 098 167 Рет қаралды

A coming together of the creators within the Dark Souls community to create a lasting tale of the canonical story throughout the Dark Souls trilogy. I dreamed this project up a couple of months ago, and never realized how fun it would be, making and forging new connections within the community. This is easily the hardest and longest I've ever worked on a video, and I think it's well worth it! So please enjoy, and feel free to check me out on other social media platforms!

    • If you look at the description of the miracle lightning arrow. It is said to have been wielded by female knights, and that it was used at longer ranges to blind dragons. If you look during the cinematic when Gwyn and his knights release their lightning. A bolt hits a dragon in the eye. BOOM mind blown.

  • Constructive critism: - 27:35 The introduction of the story of dark souls 2 break the epic/serious pace of the video. Blogsouls using internet slang is funny but it contrasts way too much with the other narrators - 37:27 The background on the left is too bright, it's impossible to read whats written. Maybe using a darker background? - Maybe inserting text when reading in-game descriptions? BUT -Narrators: Overall great performance! Calm tone, fluid speech, good pronunciation! -Editing: Various clips from the three different games were very relevant to what the narrators were saying. Music was great, well-implemented and gave an overall great vibe! -Story: You managed to gather the enormous amount of lore and sum in up in less than a hour and half! A very faithful reconstruction, and you even managed to leave theory out of the equation! And the ending... The ending goddamnit! It gave me shivers! Every second of work you all put into this video was worth it. You created a masterpiece ;) Edit: not Alex Roe but Blogsouls

  • I recently was playing the Dark Souls games again and stumbled upon this video. I used to watch many lore videos on Dark Souls and was always quite interested in the lore. The themes and characters being portrayed through the medium of the game was something I quite enjoyed. This video was quite a nice tale of the games. I was thoroughly invested in it, even the different narrators, though sometimes with worse recording equipment, added to the experience. Like different people telling their own renditions of the same legend. But then Blog Souls comes in at the 27 minute mark, thinking he's some kind of stand-up comedian busts in and starts cracking stupid jokes that completely break me out of the story. It was so distracting that it tainted the rest of the video, I was barely able to watch it. There's a time and a place for silly internet humor but I think it's placement here was a mistake. If it had been a somewhat silly look at Dark Soul's story from the get-go, then I think those jokes would have been perfectly fine. As it is currently, it is a good video that I personally cannot enjoy as much as I would like to. Though as a community project it is amazing, nice work.

  • Pretty good video! I really like the content and getting this entire story into one video. However, I would like it better if there were one consistent presenter instead of a dozen people with *wildly* different audio quality, acting quality, and styles. Going from a professional-sounding narrator with a serious tone to someone who sounds like they're falling asleep while talking into a cellphone halfway across the room, then to somebody who keeps making really lame jokes that clash with the tone of the other presenters... It's a neat idea to get a bunch of different community members involved, but maybe hold auditions and write one cohesive script next time

Vatti was the only name I was aware of but couldnt exactly remember his name/how to spell it...part of being an old man I suppose...so I just searched DS lore figuring hed b the first thing I found...instead I found this..Forcing me to break my rule of never commenting on YT videos I had to come here and say..to all concerned and involved...this is an incredibly well done piece of work and u should all b proud....a 90 min lore video that doesn't drag or become repetitive with its content...that in itself is an accomplishment..but a 90 min video about the most vague story in history is amazing...and ignore the hate that likely sits above and below this comment...it is underserved....I'm sure that Miyazaki(spelling?) himself would feel the same...well done

  • Amazing, just, absolutely amazing. The time and effort that went into making this is astounding, along with linking everything up in one cohesive and well formed movie. I loved many of the voice narrators, and especially the graphics and b roll that went along with it. I could have done without the comedy sections from certain narrators, it definitely broke the immersion and tone of the video. I do have to say, I was surprised to see Lobos narrating, I would love to hear him speak more. That, and quite a handful of other narrators were fantastic reading their dialogue. Now, onto the second half... DS2. As someone who started out playing the Souls series with DS2, I have to say, I do not understand all of the hate that surrounded this game. Although it does take a wildly different direction than the first game, it still has deep and extremely interesting lore that can be traced back to DS1, as this video has done a wonderful job explaining. All Souls games have greatly beautiful aspects and lore, however, all of them also have their weaker points, and DS2 is not an exception.

  • That is true grimdark, to start dark and full of despair then end full of despair. There is no hope in this world, destroyed by "Gods", the entire Dark Souls series I searched for hope, a way to relieve Humanity of the Dark Sign, in the end I felt despair and it was beautiful. It was a true and good story, one that didn't compromise or make promises, one that left mystery and made every moment heavy, one that gave hope only to destroy you, to leave you truly hollow. And now amongst the living are seen bearers of the accursed darksign...

    • Thats a sad yet appropriate take. Parts of the lore also gives hope, of characters fighting for good causes like Havels plot against the gods or Lucatiels quest to heal her brother. Sure these did not come to fruition but it shows people doing good even in the most grim of times. Even the living branded with the cursed sign don't give up hope and fight until they cannot continue. It shows the determination and humanity of the living.

  • Amazing work guys! I think the only thing I disagree is what you chose to be canon ending for DS2. IMO, the world state in DS3 is a result of Aldia's Ending. The chosen undead, the one who possesses all the powerful souls, simply walks away from his duty of linking or letting the fire fade. This simply tears, even more, the logic of the world and for me, that's when previous lords of cinder may start to be brought back to life because the current one found a way to avoid the cycle and now they need someone to fix this.
