  • Nightwing's character growth makes sense logically. Unlike Batman, who had to grow up thru his trauma while trying to save gotham AND raise kids past these circumstances, Dick grew up with both the trauma of loss and a vision board of the effects of that trauma. Being raised by batman, he has learned almost all of the hard, brutal, and relentless lessons that made Batman such a hardened warrior, but he also learned from his mistakes as a human being. The emotional intelligence, sympathy, empathy, and relatability were things Batman struggled to get, while Dick grew to excell in them. Its why he was always able to keep a smile thru the darkness. In a way, Nightwing is like if Batman moved like batman, but with Superman's personality.

But at least Batman was able to say some good words to Gar. I think that human side to him is whats missing a lot of the time. Its something we see in Nightwing a lot. • Dick Grayson is my favourite comic book character of all time. What makes Nightwing special is that he is everything Batman couldn't be. Batman is definitely one of if not the greatest superhero in all of fiction but he is obsessed with the mission and has given up his life to be Batman but Nightwing didn't. Instead of lingering in the darkness Dick moved on and celebrated his parents' lives, he formed relationships, became a true leader and devoted his life to helping others out of the kindness of his heart. Dick Grayson is only human yet he is more heroic than most superheroes.

He's "better" at working as a team than Batman- and that's because Batman helped make a world with these teams of modern superheroes. He connects more casually with kids, because he got to have a Bat Family, whereas Batman only had Alfred. Things like that.

  • Comparing to the original is like saying a james bond actor is better than sean connery. Nobody can be better because all bond performances copy connery in one way or another. Without batman, the vigilantes of gotham would not themselves have been able to build a force like the bat family. None of them is smart or driven enough to study and train as much as batman did. Street level heroes are always compared to batman, not nightwing, not black canary, not lady shiva, not jim gordon, only batman. Batman is the standard. Guys like nightwing might have better soft skills or superior athleticism or intelligence or creativity, but batman still has far more skills, long term goals, indomitable will, and experience. Tim might be a better detective and nightwing a superior fighter, but no batfam member is an expert in chemistry, biology, engineering, IT, literature, popular media, history, languages, psychology, etc etc. Unlike the kids, batman didnt have a role model or peers. He pioneered it all and continues to be the backbone of the family.

Saying he doesn't work well in a team is also bullshit when he is part of the trinity and justice league. So he has had arguments with them sometimes, that is only realistic as people won't see eye to eye everytime. • This is indeed the reason why Nightwing is better than the Batman. This is by no means an accident; this is what Bruce Wayne wanted for Dick from Day 1. This is a success story -- actually many success stories, as Bruce, Alfred, Clark and Dick himself all claim parts in this clear victory. While Bruce is truly comfortable and functional only in the dark, Dick moves between light and darkness nearly without effort, at home in more environments than his primary mentor. While Bruce is balanced, his balance is uncomfortable, unnatural and precarious when compared to that of his oldest son. Indeed, I would be surprised if Bruce were not now actively trying to become more like Dick; he could do worse!

  • He’s not. The writers are just saying that. He’s the new captain marvel where everyone in DC universe keeps saying he’s the best without showing why. He hasn’t even caught Heartless yet. DC has done everything to tear Bruce down and build Dick up. So much so that most of the comments here believe Bruce is less empathetic than NW. Batman’s empathy created NW!!

    • And yet you didn’t even bother to explain how he is not better. I mean if you pay attention, Nightwing is indeed the product of what happens when Batman got closure of his trauma which attributes to some of his worst flaws like trust issues, desperation for control and asocial behaviors. Take away those flaws and keep the level of disciplines he attribute over the years and you got Nightwing who is the idealized Batman. This really is a huge accomplishment on Batman part as the reason he adopted Dick was to just give the boy closure over his parents death that he didn’t receive, and it end up creating a hero who manage to surpass him in all the right places who honors said mentor by taking up an identity that practically encompasses all the people who helped guide him over the years (see New Teen Tirans when he took up the identity).

    • @@BigK13372 everything you said is exactly why Bruce is better. He’s the one who gave Nightwing all that. Nightwing’s entire character is literally owed to him, because Batman went above and beyond and opened his home to broken children and empowered them to be better. Has Nightwing done that, no? But Bruce did. Nightwing is not a bad superhero but to the point that everyone in the DCU worships him is sus. Also again not catching the serial killer who’s killing all these kids by now, definitely an embarrassment on his part. Especially with recent issues giving him platitudes and everyone watch his award speech Bruce wouldn’t rest until that dude was caught

    • @@shawnboahene5231 But all that just indicates that Bruce is a great mentor, not so much a better hero. Like the point I am conveying is that Nightwing in DC whole theme of legacy is an improvement to the predecessor who inspired him; hence why Bruce is a good mentor as he has made a lot of mistakes as Batman, which is why said experienced can be passed down as lessons so Dick won’t make the same mistakes when he’s on his own. Its kind of like how Wally is essentially a better Flash than Barry in that regard (or Barry being a better Flash than Jay). That is why people here are saying the character is better

      @BigK13372@BigK1337223 күн бұрын
    • @@BigK13372 my point flew over your head. Sure there are plenty of heroes that can beat up bad guys and save the day. But Bruce opened his home to strangers and instilled timeless values of valor, determination, and empathy. So much so that they became great heroes in their own right. That’s the true mark of heroism is how many people he saved from the darkness that consumed him and continues to be one of the most iconic heroes that even people who never touched a comic know of. Everything that Nightwing is is due to Bruce’s empathy. Also in what way is Nightwing wing an objectively better hero. Bruce has saved his city, the world, and the universe more times than him, has better feats, better at hand to hand, a better detective, more iconic stories, and is currently the backbone of DC. Nightwing is better because why? I get he’s much more personable and better put together, but so what? Nightwing is a great hero but he doesn’t hold a candle to Bruce
