  • Literally just met her at the grocery store. She’s the real deal. Full of life, faith and a smile that will take away anyones stress. She is so beautiful and kind spirited. I asked her mom if I could say hello to her and Mak was as genuine in person as she is on social media. She’s truly anointed and God has a purpose for her. Thanks for inspiring us all Mak!

  • I have nerve pain also. What I learned is that...your nerves are the signal carriers, to the brain, where your alert system/pain warning go off. If you can look at your hand and tell yourself you're fine, when you are, amd look at the hand while you're manifesting that you're fine, eventually it will be tolerable to ignore. I suffer from tinnitus, and spinal cord injuries in the same area that are inoperable, so I learned to manifest that "you're fine, the alarm is just stuck on". In due time, just like building your muscles back

Your CA vlogs were so fun...and you encouraged hundreds, maybe thousands of fellow athletes. Now you are reaching tens and even hundreds of thousands of people of every kind with your story. There are so many hurting people in this world, and some only you can reach and give hope. You are not alone as there are so many of us behind you. We pray continued strength and wisdom as you live out His plan for your life. Keep up the good fight!

  • Makayla, your positive and cheerful attitude is infectious. You are an inspiration of joy, love and hope in a dark and fallen world. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. Personally, I have been dealing with trauma and depression from having been in an abusive family and marriage. The pain from abuse, especially emotional abuse, is real and raw, but invisible like your nerve pain, which I can relate to as well, because I also had a neck injury. It is frustrating at times because most people don’t understand the pain. You and your family have given me hope that there is still goodness to be found in life. And you have set an example for me to not give up, which I had. Thank you, sweet girl! You are in my prayers of gratefulness. ❤️🙏

  • You are amazing. I have a neurological autoimmune disease called recurrent transverse myelitis. I have had several spinal injuries. All of them have been incomplete lesions. I was a paraplegic twice and God allowed me to heal over several years. My right side is weaker than the left. They put me into the exoskeleton at rehab. Once my doctors changed my meds the transverse myelitis stopped having recurrences. And over a year my body began to heal. I was in a wheelchair for over a year and then my body got some time to heal. It takes up to 2 years to heal from an SCI. God can do anything. Nothing is too hard for Him. I had to self cath for two years then once the recurrences stopped I didn’t have to self cath anymore. Then I was able to walk a little. And after lots of rehab I eventually was able to walk again. I do struggle with dysreflexia every day and I have a special machine that breaths for me when I don’t take a breath when I don’t get the signal from my brain. It is called an autoservo ventilator. So my autonomic nervous system is really damaged. So I overheat easily from the dysreflexia. I had an awesome neurologist sit down and talk with me when I was in the hospital and feeling frustrated about all the wierd stuff that happens as a result of the SCI with the brain and spinal cord not able to regulate itself. I’m so proud of your attitude. Your faith is so strong and I know God is going to use you to help so many people. Stay strong.

  • Thank you Makayla for sharing more of your situation/life! Here on the team nerve pain. My SCI is on TH 9/10, so it’s lower. I can walk a few steps but basically always need a wheelchair. The nerve pain is on almost half of my body constantly even with taking morphine pills a few times a day. So I feel you! 🙏 For me it’s also my faith that has helped me to cope and to not go down a dark road to deep. Of course there had been hard times since the injury, too. That was 2 1/2 years ago. Keep on going, the body needs time to adjust. And with nerve damage a lot is possible. Things are still changing for me. You got it!

  • Oh girl, I felt you when you talked about your hand pain. I have lupus, (although it's in remission right now..yay) & I have arthritis which has taken over my hands, especially my right one. (I am blessed that so far, my hands are the only thing affected) My fingers are all deformed at the joints & the pain at times is intolerable. I also have nerve damage in my right hand due to a car accident years ago where I also broke my shoulders & my jaw. I hope you see this comment because I have a tool in my tool belt to help with pain that has literally been a miracle for me. I listen to something called "binaural beats". There are many free videos on KZhead you can find. What binaural beats do is send one frequency to your left ear & a different one to your right ear. Your brain somehow interprets the difference & it puts you into a meditative state, where your entire brain is syncing together at once. (There are better scientific terms for it but that's how I describe it in a nutshell). I have utilized binaural beats for the pain in my hands, my back & shoulders, & also after dental surgery. I put headphones on & within 3-4 minutes I feel relief. So much relief, in fact, that I no longer have to take pain pills. I take Advil here & there but that's the extent of my pain management now. I know the pain you experience is far worse than what I experience, but I think binaural beats would be a wonderful addition to your pain management. I can even sleep through the night now after falling asleep to listening to them. I used to never be able to sleep through the night because I would be woken up with my hands on fire. Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you. You are a shining light for so many & hearing about your pain is heartbreaking to me. Sending you much love & healing light. ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️
