Now he’s sacrificed himself so that life and it’s free will have a chance to survive and grow. He finally grew up thanks to his friends and found redemption. • I love Loki’s facial expression at the end of this episode. It’s pure relief and sadness as he realises the throne he was destined for really was going to be lonely, he probably knew this before but didn’t care because he had no friends. But he always seemed to struggle to find that throne (it wasn’t obvious; he never knew about the TVA before S1 and didn’t have the power of time slipping till S2). So eventually he obviously gave up on the dream of a throne and made friends, but when he did so, his glorious purpose finally reveals itself. Loki is such a tragic character, if you ask me. Also! He had to learn to love before he could have his throne! The only way of him becoming the God of Time is if he didn’t chose the easier route which was killing Sylvie. And as Sylvie is a Loki, it could also be Loki finally learning to love himself.

    @stitchedmouthgirl@stitchedmouthgirl6 ай бұрын
    • I don't see why his new role will be lonely. Lets say he sits on his throne tending to time for a 500 years then he decides to travel back 500 years in time to just after the past version of himself sat on the throne, that would mean there are now 2 Loki's one on the throne who is guaranteed to look after all of time for the next 500 years, while Loki(the one already did his time on the throne) would be free to live alongside the people of the TVA, to them he would have never left, although for Loki, it would have been 500 years. Kind of like how Loki told Mobius he could bring him back to before the went to the TVA, and once the past version of mobius left to join the TVA, he could slip right back into place, like he never left. Except Loki would have to alternate between 500 years of loneliness, and then 500 years where he can live a life on the timeline.

Also wanted to point out the difference between how kang was able to stop time and how Loki stopped time. Kang did so through his device while Loki did so just with a flick of a finger. This goes to show that at the end of the day kang is just a man with advanced technology and can control time using his tech, genius intellect, and being advanced meanwhile Loki now having that knowledge of time science and technology combined with his powers as a god. That helped Loki to find a third option that kang could not since he was just a man

    • I've thought about this and imho it showed how Kang essentially sacrificed the multiverse to protect himself, while Loki sacrificed himself to protect the multiverse. How Kang is afraid of all the alternate timelines and therefore raises physical barriers between himself and the timelines - not just by using tempads, but also by being hidden in the Citadel, while Loki becomes one with the timelines, literally touches them and sits out in the open, protecting them with his body and magic. It's the perfect metaphor - they end up having the same powers, but use them in the opposite ways.

    • Exactly, thank you. They're not at the same level. I know it's shown that Loki broke the cycle, but if we're looking at the bigger picture, this is still exactly how it probably played out in the past. Loki becomes the god of stories which allows the Multiverse to thrive, which brings about a Multiversal War, which brings about the Kang variant who becomes He Who Remains by taming Alioth (with Renslayer) to most likely take out Loki and create the sacred timeline all over again. I'm willing to bet that He Who Remains' special tempad is actually based on the Science/Fiction/Magic behind Loki's innate ability to manipulate time. The actual break of this cycle won't come until Secret Wars because that will be the point in which the multiverse continues instead of resetting into the Sacred Timeline we've watched since Iron Man 1.

      @MashMalloman@MashMalloman6 ай бұрын
    • I completely disagree. It's not that Loki found a third option. He is still acting in the binary parameters set by He Who Remains: either help me, or you'll be swarmed by my Variants. Loki chose to take his chances with the Variants. He armed the TVA with knowledge about them, and the TVA seems to be able to keep it under control... for now. But by the time Kang Dynasty rolls around, it's obvious the TVA will have failed. We know the heroes will win, so He Who Remains will be proven wrong that his Variants can't be stopped - but I sincerely doubt it will be by Loki's hand, sadly.

These were the identical words Odin once used in a distinct context when Loki faced the abyss of a wormhole. This striking portrayal illustrates the power of language, showcasing how identical words can carry diverse meanings. While Odin used them to reject Loki, Mobius and Sylvie expressed genuine concern and care for him.

We know that it brings them do the location wher Renslayer is. So essentially they're just bringing all the Kangs together. Further to this, i think its too much of a coincidence that in Renslayers final shot it shows the pyramid. This could mean the TVA already pruned Kang Rama-tut and Renslayer will meet up with him

    • You just gave me an idea 💡 In the comics Kang has a variant of Ravonna called Revelation who runs his army in chronopolis. A variant of Ravonna who has already met and knows Kang has already swore loyalty to his cause. Even though we meet her first I think she’s just a more militant variant of, the love of Kangs life, Ravonna. & She’s now in a place where (if) she can tame Alioth, she can run that entire void at the end of time and when all these Kangs that the TvA prune get there she can be the “Revelation” for Kang about what he has to do and the “who i need to be” line he says in Quantumania. Hell for all we know we could get the secret war that HWR was talkin about in the void, between a bunch of already pruned Kangs, fighting over Alioth and Ravonna. He does mention this is the end of everyone and everything maybe because the battle wasn’t for the future, it was for the past from the perspective of someone already at the end of time. Then after Prime Kang comes out on top he won’t just prune down to the sacred timeline like the original HWR, it’ll be a battleworld for it. Winners will go on to be cast in the new universe lol okay the last part is a lil messy, honestly can’t theorize too far ahead but we’re pretty close in theory here so I think we’re onto something.

  • The "616-adjacent" universe was definitely referencing Quantumania, whether they used "adjacent" to refer to the movie events vs the comic events, or because the quantum-realm is considered a universe all its own but still tied to a branch, is kind of up for interpretation. I also see the smirk Loki gives at the end trying to imply that Loki can see Mobius and is happy for his friends as they scatter about the branches, but it could just as well be that he is giggling to himself about how the "burden" he chose (as Mobius puts it) happens to be the glorious purpose he has always sought, but only after he gave up looking for it. The credits scene, where someone is looking at all the files of the characters, it makes more sense that it would be He Who Remains' thumb, as he is the orchestrator of all of these events and has planned it all out.

He has to dedicate most of his power and concentration on constantly monitoring and sustaining the multiple timelines. The most important thing they did though, was character development. From original villian, to the spoilt brat lost brother, to comedy relief, and ending as an actual hero, becoming the god king he always wanted to be. I felt it was a nostalgic smile towards his old friend, Mobius, for finally trying to find his own path and knowing that he helped make that happen for him. And a sad smirk in the realization that Loki also found his own path/purpose but at a great cost to himself. Maybe sad that he realized it too late after he found where he might've finally felt like he belonged amongst others, only to have to leave them, destined to watch from afar for eternity and never be able to interact with them ever again but knowing that he's able to protect them in the only way he can. Also understand that this "smirk" parallels with his obsession with free will and where he previously always tried to find his own autonomy and control it. He's finally grasped how daunting free will is, the consequences that come with it and that not everyone can afford it even though they should. Loki, understanding how frustrating it can be to feel powerless to control your own destiny, sacrificed his own free will and gifted it to many others so they can have a chance to control their own fates. Thats why I say that the "smirk" at the end is more than just that and is made up of a lot of things that Loki has grown from, realized and learned from his journey to his throne. Also, I think him making the golden throne for himself was kind of a way to find comfort in his situation and a sarcastic jab at himself. Finding the fun in the irony in getting what he always wanted his entire life, even if there's no one there to see him sit in it and that no one ever will. Loki finally won. At the end of time. For all time. Always.

    • sylvie is arguably the most grown out of all the characters (besides HWR and Loki post-time slipping). That's my opinion anyway. The rest of the cast is very fractured (especially S1 before they know who they are) but Sylvie is already fighting the battle to enshrine free will before anyone else knows what's going on.

  • I love how Loki turns the Multiverse into the World Tree, Yggdrasil. Which is not only connected to his Norse Mythos, but also acts as a visual representation of how the Multiverse and Timelines work in the MCU. It branches out and those branches lead to more branches, like a tree branch.

    @Nuigi12@Nuigi126 ай бұрын
    • Very true! If you think about it, the Loom never made any sense. It's taking all the branches and trying to compress it into a thread, which doesn't work if the branches are infinite. But the Loom was never intended to manage the different timeline, it was ALWAYS designed as a way to suppress the other timelines. A mythical tree doesn't have that issue, it is indeed a different equation.

      @HayashiKaiji@HayashiKaiji6 ай бұрын

  • Loki was outstanding! Loki is truly burdened with glorious purpose. I like the parallel between Loki becoming the God of Stories being central to the multiverse as the hero and Kang being the central villain. Both are powerful and highly intelligent, and each mischievously work to out maneuver the other. Now I can see why HWR chose Lokis as his replacement to head the citadel at the end of time. This show was thoroughly enjoyable and phenomenal, as were your breakdowns.

    • Well why did HWR chose loki to replace him? I still dont understand that, he want to win right? He wants to have one sacred timeline? He will always come back? No?

    • @@Dhieen I think, looking back on the final episode of Season One, HWR really wanted to retire and get out of the game altogether. I think he was being truthful when he said that.

      @purple12334@purple123346 ай бұрын
    • @@purple12334i agree with you that he was being truthful, the way i undestood is that he basicly made the sacred time line to prevent all of his "evil" variants to keep on doing a multiversal war. But he was tired of it, imagine he spend eons there on the rock of eternity just preventing every event that would turn into a branched time line where one of his variants could get freed of the loop and cause war. one way or the other he wanted to pass the job along. He literally said to loki you can brake the loom, but doing so you are going to free a infinite ammount of me and you are going to have to deal with a multiversal war, so that is literally the worse option you have. He was being pragmatic... One way or the other Loki would have to lose, he would either have to lose his friends or his freedom and in the worse case scenario, lose his freedom and have to deal with the council of kangs which could still cause his friends to die. In the end Loki decided for the last option as he rather have his friends having their freedom and a change to fight for it (as sylvie wanted).

  • If I'm not mistaken, the emblem seen next to renslayer In The void, is the same one Mobius steps on when leaving the TVA. This looks like it's meant to be a "planet of the apes" type reveal that the void is a variant timeline or the end of all time version of the TVA where it's destroyed..

    • A lot of people skipped over this and I’m pretty sure it shows that they tamed the problem of having free will but it didn’t fully stop the problem of stopping all the kangs and shows that the kangs are going to bring down the tva but that doesn’t fully matter to the branches because the tva’s purpose is no longer to look over the branches and keep to the order of the secret timeline it’s to stop kang and kang ends up stopping them overall

      @tyronejohnson5106@tyronejohnson51066 ай бұрын
    • That also means that kang won’t be destroying the timelines in this war because he no longer has any control over it. There is even a possibility that there is no longer going to be a war with the kangs because they no longer have that power to rise to the top and fully control time and if one cannot be on top why fight each other possibly leading back to the fact there is a council of kangs and not armies of kangs attacking each other
