Davis vs Cuellar FULL FIGHT: April 21, 2018 | PBC on Showtime
Gervonta Davis was hungry for redemption on Saturday night, April 21 in Brooklyn on PBC on Showtime. He wanted to become a 2x world champion and all that was standing in his way was Jesus Cuellar.
The undefeated Davis (20-0, 19 KOs) scored three knockdowns in less than three rounds to win his second title in the super featherweight division. The 23-year-old connected on 49 percent of his power shots in his first bout with new trainer Kevin Cunningham.
Davis utilized a combination of body shots, uppercuts and effective counterpunching to break down Cuellar, a former titlist at 126-pounds. Baltimore's Davis floored Cuellar with a body blow in the second round and didn't relent from there. The southpaw pressed forward in the third, stalking Cuellar against the ropes and sending him down for the second time with a series of combinations. Cuellar (28-3, 21 KOs) got up, but was in serious trouble and referee Benjy Esteves stepped in to halt the contest at 2:45 with the Argentine falling to the canvas for the third time.

What impresses me about this kid is that he doesn’t waste punches and for a boxer like him who throws a great deal of power shots , the accuracy that he has with those punches is frightening.

He's the most feared in his weight class. Easy to tell by who signs a bout with him. A few threaten, but never sign, which is hilarious. Davis is on a different level. A chin of granite. He adapts to whatever is in front of him. Economical with his punches and a master of timing, Tank always seems to find the correct punch to end the night.. He also seems to do this whenever he feels like it, in all of his bouts. It is as if anyone in front of him is simply going to get beaten. He may just eat any punches from any of the other boxers in his weight division, like vitamins, just before beating the shit out of whomever is in front of him. They're all going to avoid him in the ring. But there will be plenty of threats on social media and youtube.

wrong cuellar wasn't ranked at all and this fight is proof of the WBA's corruption. cuellar was coming off a loss, moving up in weight, two years of inactivity, and wasn't ranked in any organization. not long before this the WBA champion was takashi uchiyama, he lost to jezereal corrales. corrales was set to face alberto machado but missed weight so there for it should have been machado fighting for the title, he does that and beats corrales but the WBA demotes him to regular champion and has tank fight cuellar for the belt. this fight was pure bs and thats why tank should have never held the title at 130 and the real champion at that weight should have been Alberto Machado not Tank.

It hurt him just as bad 😭💯 them punches hurt a lil too much
davis seemed to stick to throwing shorter ranged punches in the first round as opposed to extending himself more so like his opponent... and stuck to that well as opposed to having to compromise with his own escalation.... cuellar could've given him something of reasons to consider otherwise.
