Anyone else find that this guy uploads exactly what you were looking for at convenient times for everyone?
So glad to hear it! We try (:
Yes 😎😆
Absolutely
Definitely looking for an AM5 mATX board.
Literally just about to say that
Seriously, for someone who's just getting into trying to build a computer, you give ALL the relevant helpful info without sounding like you're talking down to a beginner. Been watching for a while and I really appreciate the info and what you're doing with this channel.
Why would someone ever talk down to a beginner?
Same! I’ve been coming back to their videos and bought components based on recommendations and my budget lol
I love to hear it, so happy we could help you along the way! Thanks for your viewership, we appreciate the support. If you build it, it will run :)
@@Elena-pf4tfaqppp
I built my gaming PC last Chriistmas on a very tight budget. This men helped me sort it all out. I have an asus 550 and an itel I5-11600k. I dont regret my purchase. I need a better gpu. My 6600 is my bottleneck.
I gotta say... You are really at the top of my pc building advice providers. Honest. Precise. Knowledgeable. You are everything I need. An easy sub, keep up the absolutely fantastic work.
Thank you so much for your feedback. And we appreciate the sub! :)
Great content as always. I started watching a couple months ago as I haven't built a PC in about 10 years and I'm looking to do so soon. Great presentation, so much good information set out in a succinct accessible manner. Great youtube channel, I've linked your videos to friends. Keep up the great work and helpful content, I'll probably keep watching after I finally build just because I enjoy learning about the hardware and keeping up with the market and your videos are so great! Thanks Jason!
Thank you so much for that, and thanks for spreading the word. We really appreciate it and are happy that we could provide great content! Good luck with the build :))
Jason stays at the door welcoming people into the hobby teaching and guiding them on their way. It shows he cares that people get a good understanding to have a good experience with PC building. Also his "boost my build" videos are top tier!
Thank you so much for this comment! Really appreciate that!! That's the goal - more PC builders across all communities. :)
@@PCBuilderChannel I agree your content is among the most useful in this category. With sincere hope you'll take this as constructive criticism: please please tone down the constant "youtube hands". Overdone and distracting.
A man who loves cats can't be a bad man😀
There's also the ATX version of the B550M-VC Pro, going for $115 right now (usually $120, also slightly cheaper than the B550-A Pro). Good rear IO, front panel USB-C, lots of USB ports (including a 3.2 gen 2 type A and C), BIOS flashback, and the 2nd m.2 slot is proper gen 3x4 (I've noticed some B550 boards have a gen 3x2 slot). The downsides, no Wi-Fi and ALC897 audio.
Great video. This was needed. MOBO has been my hardest component to choose. My first choice for b550 got discontinued and i cant find it for a good price anymore. I bumped up to x570s, more money but all the features i was looking for and a whole lot of other features that i wasnt looking for.
Thanks a lot for this video! It helped me a lot to see through the jungle of now available Motherboards with all the very similar namings :s I will go for an Asrock X670E (Either Steel legend or PG Lightning) as I see the best pricing/value i get for the money and it will stay futureproof. It's crazy to see that some B650 Boards cost the same or more than a X670 bit having less features
Unfortunately I found you only after I committed to buying my most expensive pc parts. BUT I have been binge watching most of your videos and I have begun taking notes and have already been panning out upgrades and potential further into the future builds with this new information haha. Your channel is great for a first time builder like me! Love it!
Glad you found us!! Thanks for watching (:
Thank you, Jason. With your help, and this channels guidance, I was able to build my first PC after scoring a great deal on a 6800xt for prime day. Amazing 1440p, 100+fps machine. Keep posting and I'll keep coming back to learn!
Awesome!! Congrats on your first build! Show off a build pic if you like on twitter / threads @pcbuilderjason (:
What cpu and mb and ram you have ???? Thx
Please suggest me if you have any idea 💡 1) processor - AMD RYZEN 5 5600 2) motherboard - Gigabyte B550 Gaming X V2 3) AIO - DeepCool AK400 4) RAM - Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (8GBx2) 5) SSD - Western Digital SN570 500GB M.2 NVMe 6) Graphics card - RX 6600 XT 7) PSU - Corsair CV650 80 Plus Bronze Certified 8) Case - Ant Esports 220 Air ARGB (ATX) ❤
great video and prefect timing!! i was just about to do my research on boards for my build.
Well glad that timing worked out! Good luck with the build :)
One thing to look at, particularly on matx boards is whether the pcie 16 slot is at the top or one slot down, especially if you plan on using the other slots for add in cards. Most gpus are over 2 slots tall these days and most matx cases only have 4 pcie slots in the back, so skipping the top and taking up all 3 other slots is absolutely a no go for me if i wanted to add a pcie m.2 adapter or capture card in the future, or adding more sata or usb 3.x connectors with a pcie card. Another thing to note is pushing the add in card right up against your gpu which will hurt performance by raising temps. If you are only going matx because its cheaper or smaller but not itx because its more expensive and know for a fact you will only ever put a gpu in, disregard this.
I love how even as an advanced PC builder myself, that Jason is great at breaking things down for those who may be newbies, possibly even on their very first build.
I feel like I know what I'm doing for the most part, but motherboards have kinda mystified me. This video helps picking something out for a friend's first build.
@@WaterZer0 nice, the explanation of the various types of motherboards is exactly the part I was referring to.
Thanks for the feedback, glad the breakdown is clear! Hope you keep enjoying the content! :)
Nice, good luck with your friend's build!
That’s me rn 😅😂
Jason, without your videos I dont know where I would be, your guides have helped me save so much money!
Love to hear it, learning and savings for the win! Thank you for watching, hope you keep enjoying all the new content.
This is possibly the best review / tutorial I've seen in a long time. Great job!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed
this video is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much!
One thing I’d like to add to this: make sure your board has a debug light. I can’t believe that some don’t. You are basically guaranteed to run into a problem at some point during the lifetime of your PC and a debug light can make troubleshooting take minutes instead of hours.
Does the aoursb650 elite ax have it
Your results, the detailed spreadsheets you provide for CPU and GPU comparison and now the mini ITX recommendation for motherboards is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, much appreciated! This channel is quality of life!
So glad its helpful!! Thank you for watching
@@PCBuilderChannel Did you actually try them? The AsRock B650E PG-ITX is a tragedy. Extremely slow boot despite memory context restore, BIOS fails updating, no BIOS flashback on the contrary to what you imply about AsRock boards...
So helpful! I currently have B450 biostar v.6. Bought a new GPU, and cooler to upgrade due to my work focusing now on heavy photos and video editing only to find out AK400 doesn't fit to my b450 so I'm considering upgrading my MoBo as part of this upgrade instead of just getting a new cooler. In search for information about which MoBo to get, found this video and got a clearer picture of which is which and explained in a manner that is so friendly, especially for a beginner like me. If you have recommendations as well, please let me know here ;) Thanks!
Waiting for this, thank you so much!
Very informative video as always. I would suggest keeping an eye out for bundles. You can save hundreds. I was able to pick up a 7600x and b650 aorus elite ax for 280. Ended up returning a 5600x for a free upgrade to zen4.
Nice! Where did you find this bundle?😊

I'm sure you've gone over the mobo basics at the beginning of the video many times. Thank you for doing it again!! I did not know a lot of that!!
You're very welcome! Glad you got some learning in :)
I have been looking through KZhead videos on PC build parts for almost 2 weeks, for at least an hour, sometimes 4 hours😅 a day, and you're legitimately the only channel i think is worth subscribing too. I just got the ASRock B650 Pro RS full ATX board and I'm really satisfied with it. I have an external dac so couldn't care less about the audio and it works perfectly fine with my 7700x. It also looks great in my all white build!
how’s the Pc going?, and if you don’t mind me asking, what’s case are you using? and your gpu?.
@@voidesu the PC is doing great. It's in a Corsair 5000D and the CPU is cooled by a Deepcool 360mm AIO. I have it paired with an MSI 7900 xt Classic Trio and 32Gb of 6000Mhz CL30 ram with buildzoid custom timings.
Actually helping a friend build his first pc through your vids and this is exactly what i needed 😂
Exciting! Glad we can help!
I built a Ryzen 7 5700x PC in a Sama IM02 case and I had chosen the Asrock B550m Pro4 as listed in your review. Unfortunately I had to return that motherboard and go with a Msi Pro 550m-vdh WIFI motherboard. It wasn't really due to a motherboard issue, more so a case issue. When using a case that's kinda a hybrid between a matx and itx case, I had interference with the case connectors where they are on the bottom end of the motheboard which caused clearance issues with fans and drives mounted at the bottom section of the case.
Thank you so much! Your videos are always exactly what I am looking for. Keep up the good work :)
So glad you're enjoying all the content! Much appreciated, thanks for watching :)
Happy to know I made the right choice with the Asrock B550M Pro4! Just got it in the mail today and I start my first build tonight! I appreciate all of the great info you bring and your ability to deliver it in a way someone like myself can understand. Thanks!
yo man how did it go?
How did it go? How are you?
exactly the video i was waiting for
Love it when the timing is good!
Great video overview of these Ryzen motherboards. I have a particular fondness for MSI MAG Tomahawk boards (currently have a MAG X570S Tomahawk WIFI) and have had several. Checking out prices, I see that the price I got my board ($229 USD) nearly two years ago will now buy a B-series board, the X-series boards now costing from $60-$100 more). I suspect that in the future, I will drop back to the B-series boards when I build my next system as they do for the most part now have all the features I want on a motherboard. But instead of building a Ryzen 7000 system, I feel my current setup is so good that I'm considering replacing the current CPU with a Ryzen 9 5900X and calling it a day!
You explained all the differnces very well And I liked the text flashe don the screen, it makes it easy to write down the info we want!
Thank you for the feedback! Appreciate it
Thanks Jason. It is so hard to adjust to these new expensive prices for b650 and x670 family of atx boards. I am used to $125 or less. These $300+ motherboards are very hard to adjust to.
Glad its helpful! Yes the 600 series prices have been all over the place, glad to see some stability coming in
Wait a few more months. You can See the prices are melting again and will even further more next year.
@@Hurensohnologe0711 Hope you are right.
Something interesting to consider is that the (budget) B650 Pro RS has Blazing M.2 has (PCIe Gen5x4), and some MSI (premium) only Gen4 for M.2, is something to keep in mind. Thx for the amazing video.
Would you help suggest a motherboard for a 3d simulation artist? I am thinking b650 tomahawk but would go for something better if so. using ddr5 mem and 2tb 980samsung ssd. Thanks, Happy THanks G & BlackFriday

Thanks for another great video, Jason. TUF X670E-Plus Wifi gang represent! So glad to see it was also on your list of recommended boards. I paired mine with a 7800X3D, 32 GB 6000 MHz CL30 RAM, and PNY 4090 XLR8 OC and this thing just cuts through anything I throw at it. All thanks to your great advice from previous videos! :)
Ohhh very nice combo you got there!! Have you shown off a build pic yet on twitter / threads @pcbuilderjason? Would love to see it!
This ram works perfect with no posting issues? Been struggling what to get as far as speeds on the ram on these 7000 series boards.
I have the non wifi version. TUF Gaming X670E-Plus. It looks like the bios issues are FINALLY starting to be resolved now. It's been a rocky 9 months or so for me. I'd love to see a review of different older non QVLed memory kits with the boards. I have 32gb kit of 6000mhz G.Skill 40-40-76 ram that works if I set manual settings. It's taken me around 6 months to start getting stable settings though.
@@cookiepuss8182 No issues posting, but boot times aren't super fast. On startup, the memory sticks always go back to their original RGB wave lighting, even though I have set them to a single orange colour. It doesn't really bother me, it gives me more time to make my morning coffee. As far as speeds go, I have them at 6000 MHz with Buildzoid's timings. I'm currently on the latest 1634 beta BIOS based on AGESA 1.0.07b, the one that is supposed to have support for even higher memory frequencies - no issues so far. The previous 1618 worked fine too.
Can you please give me your set up list become that’s exactly what I’ve been wanting to get
I'm currently rocking a 7800 X3D/ Gigabyte B650 PRO AX (ATX) combo. Very pleased with my choice. Great video, Jason! I wish to thank Ambrosius for his hard work putting y'all to work. Mr. Bear Rulez! 💯🙌
Hello Thomas! Great build!!! Mr. Bear approves :)
How is the audio for the board?
@@MrTeknown It´s good IMO.
Whats the full build? Have you had any issues with the gigabyte b650 and DDR5 ram?
I’m planning on building my very first pc and im planning on getting the 7800 x3d as well so is the B650 PRO AX a good choice for the mother board? All of this is pretty confusing but I’m trying to get the hang of it.
Hello dear, firstly, thank you for the amazing and detailed videos and for all the tips that you consistently give us. One question regarding the integrated audio on the motherboard, if I use Astro a40 headphones that have an external audio unit, and the only connection that goes to the pc is a optical cable into the motherboard, having or not a premium audio codec could influence in any way the audio quality? Thank you, love from Italy
Picking a good motherboard and not overspending on it is the hardest part about building a pc. That, and finding your max stable RAM settings/finding the QVL list on the motherboard website. Thank you for this piece of content
The QVL can be helpful but to be honest I've never bought ram because of the list (it just works 99% of the time) ^^
For AM4 I can whole hardily recommend the Gigabyte X570 AORUS ELITE motherboard. Thing has been rock solid for me.
I just got one for my 5600x3d
Nice! I'm planning to match my 5600x3d with the x570s master aorus. Excited to see others going that route
Na, Gigabyte is trash. ASUS TUF X570 is wayyyy better and more stable.
I'd probabily skip this gen upgrade, my good old 9900k is still rocking. But I will go for AM5 in the future, the power requirement to performance is super juicy. Nice contect, always full of useful info. Love it! Quick question to @Jason: I'm planning to add the MSI M.2 XPANDER-AERO to a future new build, it says will use 16 x PCIE 3.0. Will it run on a B650(m/atx) motherboard with a PCIE 4.0 GPU?
We come to KZhead to find answers to our questions. Not sure why people post videos to help people. But won't answer questions? These questions in the comments help so many people when there answered.
Jason, your videos are truly a gift for the pc builder community, so clear, so honest, keep up the good work !
Thank you! So glad they are helpful
Perfect timing! I'm currently shopping for motherboards for a new build👍🏼 Thanks Jason
Brilliant! Good luck with the new build, glad to help :D
Built my first PC in the 90s and have built them for myself, for family, for work, and for sale, and still love this channel because the info is presented extremely clearly, never talks down, and never hypes stupid things. This is a go-to channel for anybody building their own systems, even for those who think they know it all.
Thank you so much! Really appreciate the feedback!
The MSI MAG Tomahawk x670e board should be on anyone's list looking to go AM5. It has great VRM power, 3A of power on the PWM ports and is now priced under $300. I built a 7950x3d system on the Asus Crosshair Extreme board but am building a second 7950x system and opted for the MSI board. Strongly recommended!
Thanks I'll probably get this one i want usb 3.2 gen 2
Would love to see a best of the high end X670E boards, the Maximus Extreme, the MSI Godlike etc.
Already have a x670e aorus master laying next to me new in the box, i think i was kinda late watching this (I ordered my parts yesterday) but its still a great motherboard and im sure im gonna have a great time with it
Prime boards=prime for a fire.
Thank you so much you said all the detail i was looking for and you made me find my motherboard that was right for me keep it up
So glad we could help!!
Hi Jason, relatively new subscriber but I am watching a ton of your stuff because you get right to the nut of everything, there’s no fluff, which is great. I guess there would be some correlation with the chipset explanations between the red and blue teams so I was wondering if you are planning to do an Intel version of this video?
We'll have a new one in the fall after the rumored 14th gen launch, but check out our 13th Gen Motherboard video from 2022, still relevant ;)
You explaing everything in detail is what new PC builders like me need and I highly appreciate it. Definitely following
Love to hear it, thank you! And thanks so much for the follow :)
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’m doing my first pc build and this has been a major time sink of mine trying to learn more about motherboards as I am looking at an AMD 5 build. So many thanks.
So glad we can help with your first build!!!
Hey thanks! Great video. In the video cover you show the asus atx prime x670e-pro but you dont mention it during the video. Would you consider this a good pick?
Subbed after 3 video views, fantastic channel and content is zero BS. Thank you!
You're so welcome, thanks for the sub! Welcome to the channel, hope you keep enjoying all the content :)
What a great video. Thanks for demystifying the naming conventions!
You got it! Happy to making things a bit easier :)
I too went for the asrock b550m pro4 when I built my 5600x system a few years ago now when the 5600x came out. It is serving me well.
great video again.. good solid advice..
Hey Jason, there is this motherboard that is only 200 dollars that comes with so many features(4 m.2 slots, onboard wifi 6e and bluetooth, two usb c ports, and 8 total high speed usb ports, alc4080 audio codec, and pcie gen 5(doesn't really matter atm but it could in the future)) and I've noticed that you haven't even mentioned it. It's called the MSI PRO X670-P WiFi. With all these features at this price, I think it's worthy to be put in the links of the video with a double fire emoji.
Great vid, thanks. I plan on using my trusty ol' AZZA mid-tower ATX case. This new build will be for only home office use (with some gaming potential). Can some of the front USB 2.0 ports be physically changed to USB 3.x ports to accept new headers?
Hi Jason! Love your videos I’ve learned a lot about PC Parts through your videos. You helped me out a lot! Also, I have a quick question, how do I get ethernet cable wifi for my PC since my router right downstairs. I usually use wireless wifi and I’m planning to buy the ASRock B550M PRO4 AM4. Is there a way for me to get wifi connection?
Watch videos like yours. Yours the best help so far. Looking into the ryzen 7 cpu and goto supported element options.
So happy we could help! And thank you for watching. :D
I'm shocked you didn't mention the ASRock X670E PG lightning. That board was down to around $200 USD after MIR right around the time you posted this video. Basically the same as the Steel Legend, but no Wi-Fi. Has an M2 Wi-Fi slot.
Fantastic job of getting the most pertinent info and then presenting it in a clear and comprehensible way. This is useful for buying a board today, and understanding boards in the future. Thanks very much for your work.

You are great at explaining everything so I subscribed. Useful info!
You would think all boards now days would come with wifi or is that wifi you're talking about for something different?
So glad it was helpful! Thanks for the sub.
They all come with ethernet but don't all come with built in wifi. But you can always use an adaptor
Wow Jason love your vids, your explanation is super awesome 👍🏼 🎉 WTA about heatsink on vrm, about the asrock b550m-hdv + ryzen5 5600? Because the mothers board does not have any heatsink on vrm and the pc for gaming only.
Your videos are great. It has helped me a lot in my quest to find the right components. However, I feel that sometimes there's too much information overload and it kind of goes on a tangent, making it hard to follow the recommendations. Anyways I will keep following.
I just got the "Gigabyte X670 gaming x ax", a cheap X670 complete with everything. Great video!
My man! My new favourity hardware channel, literally was looking for this video and you upload it XD
So glad its helpful!
Loving the MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi. Hope it will be great for a future CPU upgrade!
Wow dude you explained so good. I spent hours reading articles watching all kind of videos while doing my research and only after I stumbled on your video. You confirmed what I need but would saved me tonns of time if I have seen your video at first. Good job!!!!
Thank you so much for your feedback, so glad we could confirm what you found! Welcome to the channel :)
Hi Jason, first of al great video as always! I bought a B650 D3HP to pair with my ryzen 5 7600, What do you think of it?
Beautiful guide as always! Is there any specific reason you haven't mentioned the Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX ICE for the R7000 Premium category? The white/silver details on it are amazing and it looks like an amazing board
my have things changed as expected. been years since I built my pc and it is time to upgrade the board, cpu and memory and what a great job updating me on what to look for. thanks for all the great detail.
Glad we could help with the update! Hope you keep enjoying all the content :)
Hey Jason, thanks a lot for your videos, they help us a lot. Do you have any other recommendation for a Non-Wifi motherboard ? Anything that may stand up between the rest? I saw the ASRock B650 PG Lightning but I'm not sure if it's a good price/performance MOBO. Thanks !
Build my first built with a b550 gigabyte gaming v2 and a amd ryzen 5600, works amazing
Hi great job again thanks a Lot for your information. I quick question please. The gigabyte b650 aero g can support 4 argb fans and gpu/ mother board argb psu conectores. Thanks for the info and than You a lot
Thanks for your info bro, do you recommend any A620 board for budget AM5 build? thanks
Thanks for the info, Love your vids!!
You got it! Glad you enjoy them, hope you keep enjoying all the content :)
I agree with all your picks but I originally picked up the Gigabyte B650i Ultra ITX board & I loved the aesthetics & features but absolutely hated all the breakout cables. Fortunately it wouldn't post so I returned it to Micro Center. Got the Gigabyte B650M AORUS ELITE AX. I also got the Asus B650E-F as part of a bundle kit & it's a pretty decent ATX board. Good rear I/O connectivity & 3 M.2 slots
Thanks for sharing! Glad you've got what you need now
First of all thank you for your great content and Merry Christmas to you all! I'm a viewer from Europe and I'm looking for a All White Mothetboard. The MSI you mentioned doesn't please me as much aesthetically and the Gigabyte AERO is a bit on the pricier side. So my question to you is if you could also recommend the Asus Rog Strix B650E-A GAMING WIFI Motherboard? It is even a bit cheaper to get than the MSI one
Ok nevermind I just found an older Video where you recommend exactly this Motherboard :)
Great video! I was looking to get the msi one but its already almost 4 years old. Does that matter or should i get a newer one?
Thank you as always for your very helpful and timely information. Much appreciated.
So glad we could help. Thanks for the support!
Just built my first PC thanks so much Jason.i also used your code to get my windows XP 10. Cheers!
Congrats on your first build, very exciting! Glad we could help :)
listen look and learn.. great work and great info! thank u sir
Much appreciated! Thank you for your support.
last year i bought an msi x570 gaming plus in box for a 100.00 and when they came out i got the 5800x3d. i thought it something that i could update the bios with nothing on the motherboard to get it to work with that new cpu. everything i got from microcenter except the mb came to almost 1000.00. i already had a copy of win10 and iv'e been running it since. the psu is 850 watt's by evga and it handles everything just fine. my graphics was an asus 1080ti that i upgraded to a arc a770 le 16gb later.
Great timing for this. Thanks
Love it when the timing is good! Glad you enjoyed
I've been watching your videos for a while now and they have been quite helpful, especially for people building their 1st gaming Pc. I hope your channel grow's more.
Thank you, love to hear it! We're growing fast and appreciate the support!
Thank you. Needed this
Happy we could help. Thanks for the support!
Awesome video, thank you very much! One question here, I see lots of people reporting issues with memory compatibility. What's the catch here? I am upgrading but never had issues with RAM before, and I see top brands with low ratings due to RAM issues.
You have a great vibe, makes it entertaining to listen to listen to stuff I already knew, lol!
So happy you find it entertaining! Hope you keep enjoying all the content ;)
Everything question I had answered in 1 video. Thanks
Happy to help!
Always worth every second of the video! Keep up the good work!
Thank you!! Really appreciate that (:
Thanks a ton for the information on all the different levels of hardware. Very well done. I don't fell so bad now because i just purchased the ASUS B450 A-II. Along with Ryzen 7 5700G.
Did u need to bios update for the cpu?
Thanks Jason always learn something new from watching you. Struggling to decide if I want to upgrade one more time with my 5600x or just drop the hammer and go with DDR5 motherboard and chip set. There are so many people with 5600X CPUs I have to believe I am not the only one who would love to see maybe a specific video on that issue. Missed your Cat in this one. :-)
I plan on running 8 of 9 Ryzen 5600/5600x/5800x systems for at least 4 more years as family and media PCs that are used for gaming. My primary rig with 5900x/x570s/64gb/6900xt I plan to keep around at least 2 more years.
hey thanks for this detailed guide. would you recommend the ASRock B650M PG RIPTIDE, or the MSI PRO B650M - A WIFI motherboard for ryzen 7000 cpu's?
thanks for the content..helped me loook for a good amd mobo
