I have a drawing tablet that I use for taking notes, so I plugged it in right after this video and gave it a try. I made the most realistic face that I've ever created. I used to enjoy art in HS, but I stopped trying to make art after graduating... this experience really satisfied a creative itch for me and I'm really thankful that you brought that to me.

  • I might be late to the party here, but this is probably the best beginner tutorial on sculpting I've seen. The simple fact that this tutorial focuses on the technical side of sculpting and actually shows the tools that are neccessary to get started is incredibly helpful. For some reason, so many tutorials on sculpting only tell us what we're supposed to be doing, without actually telling us how to do it (the old "draw the rest of the owl" problem). Now that you've shown the tools to get started, I can finally follow the tutorials that focus on the artistic process behind sculpting and learn that. Great tutorial to get started!

  • 14:30 just a quick tip, if we use F key to change brush size then normally we have to LMB to confirm. We can also customize it in the preference (keymap) by turning on 'confirm on release' so we don't need to LMB to confirm , just HOLD the F key and release it after we change the brush.

Basing on those other tutorials I got feeling like sculpting was something unbelievably complex but now it seems as even me, who's like total noob and makes it just as hobby, could try it out :) I've got cheap tablet which I bought some time ago for my child and which is getting covered by dust so will give it a try :) (GAOMON S620 6.5 x 4 Inches) Special thank you for those examples of your first works! It really adds some courage to try it :) Also your tutorials are full of useful hints which accelerates learning speed. Thank you!

  • 0:50 Anyone reading this - Don't let this dissuade you from sculpting! I've never used a pen or wacom tablet, but it just takes a little time to use the mouse. It's similar to asking someone what kind of pen or paintbrush they use. Its all about making the right strokes and less about what utensil makes those strokes. You can also use the stabilize stroke option to make the stroke lag behind a little to give you more even, flowing forms.

    @ShayminBarizsky@ShayminBarizsky Жыл бұрын
    • Thanks for watching! Yes, you could do that, although I would recommend retopologizing the object after you sculpt it. Then you can do the texturing, rigging and then animate it. proper retopology will make the object move and rotate better when its being rigged and animated.

  • There are a lot of people on KZhead who are experts at Blender but are totally useless when it comes to making tutorials. So it is indeed a pleasure to find someone like you who is not only a Blender expert but an expert in teaching others to use Blender. What a pity it is that so few have your talent for teaching.
