CHERRY MX ULTRA LOW PROFILE - setting a new standard in the notebook market!
We proudly present the all-new MX Ultra Low Profile switch! With this model, we once again achieve a milestone in the development of switches: we manage to create the ultra-low profile mechanical switch into our own portfolio, which brings new technical possibilities to the design of ultra-low profile notebook and desktop keyboards in the high-end segment. In addition, the ultra-thin solution combines the feature set of the MX switches that have been proven for decades with new attributes, making the CHERRY MX Ultra Low Profile a game-changer for the industry.

Man, I think I am going to lose my mind. Been waiting for ages for something like this. Thanks a lot, Cherry from the bottom of my heart.
Happy to hear that! Hopefully you get your hands on them soon ❤️
They still aren't really up to par with mechanical keyboards, don't waste your money unless you care about a minimal amount of extra tactile feedback
@@jtestaccount2431 Having had a chance to type on an alienware laptop with the switch, I disagree completely. It's not quite the same as a full sized mechanical switch, but is miles better than "normal" laptop scissor/butterfly switch and as good as low profile gateron/Kalih switches (haven't tried the Cherry ones). Compared to a full size switch, you lack the longer travel but that really isn't as big an issue with clicky switch where you shouldn't really be bottoming out anyway, The only real downside is that they are Alienware exclusive at the moment.
@@cherry_mx Which laptop and external keyboards now have these? Can we get an updated list?
Springs ping noise now in notebooks
i hope we see this on desktop keyboards! i use a desktop pc 90% of the time but i actually like the laptop low profile feel. so i hope it happens
Well, let's see what the future will bring 🙂
They suck compared to full height mechanical switches nobody would make/buy this. I guess you could make the board yourself 🤷🏼♂️
@@jtestaccount2431 False. I would buy :) I found low-profile kinda trumps long travel and mech feel when it comes to ergonomics. I found myself preferring a lenovo thinkpad keyboard to a high cherry MX board due to better wrist angle. An insanely thin but still somewhat mech-y custom ergo board would be amazing.
@@cherry_mx where could i buy the switches?
@@redonwhite this isn't low profile "traditional" mechanical switch though. It's a mechanised butterfly switch. Definitely a step forward compared to laptop membranes but personally feel its a step back from normal low profile switches.
Im using them , and im in love. Best Laptop keyboard ive ever use :)
Using these on my keyboard right now. Feels amazing. Love the tactile "click"! I got one question. Where would we find replacement springs for these (seems hard to find)? And how do you properly take the keycap off (without ruining anything)? Also, curious about one thing as well. When doing gaming, often times a person will have to hold down W for an extended length of time (have to move forward after all). Does this reduce the lifespan of the key significantly, or wear down the spring?
The spring is not pulled further than it's natural elastic limit, no deformation or wear should occur from it's pressed position compared to it's unpressed position. More wear on the switches would occur from continuos presses.
You can't take the keycap off, that's one of the big issues with this switch
Im eagerly looking forward to see keyboards used this ultra low profile. but ...
What about ZSA Moonlander? It supports keyswitch hot-swap. Can these ultra low be installed on it?
need keycaps, where can i find them??
How long should we wait for ultra low profile keyboard ?
The design looks very interesting, I'd be curious to get my hands on a switch tester, if there's any.
Please make a desktop version! We need it =)
this shii bussin
How loud are the audible clicks? I am considering getting this in my m17r4 but I don't want the switches too be too loud(I mostly type/game alone but I don't like louder keyboards). Is it louder than a membrane keyboard? And also how smooth is this switch compared to membranes? I'm used to membranes and I am just curious about these switches.
Yes, theser are a bit louder than membrane keyboards because of the click when actuated, they're also pretty smooth.
WOOOO!! Any Low-profile boards coming in the market soon with these switches so I could use them on my desk?
🤷♂️
how do you lube these tho
now i just need to wait for a TKL keyboard with these switches
Cherry MX is the Alpha of switches
when will this be available for companies that make desktop keyboards or smaller keyboard makers out there?
Nothing to announce yet, I'm sorry.
I just came here because of your ad on youtube and i want music that is in the vidddd. I really want its name . Its amazing

Please don't limit these to notebooks and laptops only. I really want a gaming keyboard with short switches. I grew up on laptops, and absolutely hate the height of even the low-profile gaming keyboards on the market today.
Manufacturers are free to use our MX Low Profile switches on keyboards as well, don't worry 🙂
Is it linear? It kinda cool tho Linear laptop keyboard
It's clicky with an audible click 🙂
Can I replace my regular speed silvers cherry switches with these on my keyboard ? Or are these only made for laptops ?
These can't be replaced with regular MX Speed Silver switches. Yes, ULP are intended for laptops, but also for desktop keyboards.
When are these coming out or is there a model laptop that these switches wiil be released on?
The first laptops with our MX Ultra Low Profile switches are coming from Alienware, for the m15 r4 and m17 R4 models.
@@cherry_mx not no more
design is awesome however i had to return it as it was too hard to press and tactile isn't my thing
literally was working on my own patent for low profile switches, well that's out the window.
🤷♂️
Where can I get the regular cherry MX red low profiles? I've been looking for a while, I'm new to keyboards so this is confusing to me so far.😶
You could check with the German online shop reichelt.de: bit.ly/MXatReichelt (multi-language support and worldwide shipping available)
@@cherry_mx thank you!
@@cherry_mx Hello this shop seems to have the clicky version (K3NB) indeed, but not the tactile (T3NB) one, do you know if/when/where it will be available? Thanks.
Wow
17/11/2022 where are the keyboards with it?
Would these need special plates or PCBs?
Yes, as our new MX Ultra Low Profile switches need to soldered directly onto the PCB thanks to dedicated connection pads.
How much price in this key board ?
If there will atleast be a tactile version along the way. Having a laptop with clicky switches can be really annoying in libraries and in classes.
hey cherry MX , I want to buy an alienware computer but this keyboard exists only in qwerty and I'm french so I use azerty keyboards. Can these keys be unclipped and reclipped?
The keycaps shouldn't be removed, I'm sorry
nagyon jo
How can I create a system on the computer
So are they clicky? Tactile? What switches are they closest to in feel?
They're clicky and tactile and are mostly comparable to our MX Blue. Find more information here: bit.ly/3qXmHFr
@@cherry_mx thanks for the response! I’m excited for your partnership with Alienware! Hopefully in the future it means even more switch options for their keyboards 😄
It looks like a butterfly.
Huh.. idk why.. but for some reason.. I really like Cherry MX Ultra Low Profile switches now. Anyways, back to my DeLorean. -VIN #4693
😂😂😂 Good one!
i have k95 rgb platinum and i want replace switches and i dont know what switch i can use
You need some experience in soldering and you would loose the manufacturer's warranty, but you could replace them with every other MX RGB switch...
Where can I buy a keyboard with these keys? Link me people!
Do you guys have keyboards for laptops?
We only manufacture and deliver the switches 😉
did anyone notice the oldschool Windows key in the keyboard?
Any idea why you guys have zero inventory??
NO WAY BRO IM CHERRY TOO :p
Mega switches
Thank you ❤️
Alhamdulillah, good
is this for red switch?
This is a brand-new switch.
@@cherry_mx no no is it something like red or linear?
Will there ever be switches of this type that are more similar to Cherrry MX Reds?
Let's see what the future will bring 😉
@@cherry_mx esti obraznic :)
Does the stated lifetime of 15M measure the number of times the scissor-legs cross or until the switch breaks off the PCB it is only _surface_ _mounted_ to?
Which scissor legs?
Mine did not last 15 million presses. It failed in under a year. The thermoplastic hinge failed causing the key to bottom out. Dell claimed it's irreplaceable and irreparable, they are currently replacing my entire keyboard and palmrest over a single key failure.
Something like this on an actual keyboard... Mmmm i wonder
Yes, these are also for desktop keyboards
not bad
Waiting for Logitech Mx keys clone with these switches.... and in TKL format! That would be perfect keyboard.
True, it would really be great
We need a tutorial on how to repair the keycaps if they come off. There's nothing out there.
I can tell you from personal experience. The end user is not able to replace or repair damaged switches, and the only plan in place for businesses like Dell is to replace the entire keyboard. The TPU cover will fail due to a small plastic hinge causing the key to bottom out making the key unusable and unrepairable.
@@MrPriceMonroe Honestly, that is ridiculous. Business like Dell farming more cash for a product that should be an easy fix.
@@GlazedSweetRoll I mentioned to them the key looks repairable, but they had already placed a service request and informed me I could not but the hinge independent of the keyboard. This had me suspicious of Cherry. Really, you can't sell factory components?
must be very good to cost more than $ 150
I bet they can beat razer
kind of like butterfly keyboard on macbook
Failed like them too. Currently waiting for Dell to replace my entire keyboard and top cover because repairing a single key is impossible.

how the fu can buy this how how!
Wait for them to come in laptops maybe? Otherwise I see no reason, unless these are actually good somehow (doubt it, since Cherry doesn't really make any good switches IMO). There are good enough low profile options in the keyboard market right now, like Cooler Master SK series, that are already thin enough for normal use cases and portability.
In upcoming Alienware laptops. I would expect that they will have exclusivity for a while ...
@@Purjo92 how does cherry make bad switches? the whole world makes fakw cherry switches based on their design. Cherry also has the best quality and feel. Theres a reason they are global no1
@@professionalmrmeatspeedrun4554 You seriously have no idea? Not all clone switches are created equal, but then there are those that are MUCH better than Cherry originals. Try Kailh Box switches, holy pandas, hall effect switches like omnipoints, Gateron yellows, ect. Everything Cherry does make, someone has excelled to another level. Compared to actually good switches, Cherry has pingy strings, no tactility on tactile switches, more scratchy feeling (even on linears), unsatisfying clicks on clicky switches. They really have not evolved, almost all of their designs are tens of years old and only thing they really do is swapping strings to lighter and making switch actuate faster, to get better gaming performance (example speed silvers). Cherry might have decent quality control, but that's it. Only reason Cherry sells, is because everyone already knows them, but it will change eventually, when competition gets harder.
@@Purjo92 i have tried many switches and prefer my cherry mx speeds in every way
Getting replacement pieces is actually impossible…… what a joke
clone of kailh note book switch booooooooooooo
Kailh's is quite different. Spring strung between leg and centre, not between both legs. Legs being of plastic, not steel, etc.
but with a better mechanism, a better build quality, better longevity and i bet you a better feel
