  • My daughter had sleep terrors when she was the same age. I got the idea to take a spray can of febreeze, wrap construction paper around it and decorate it. My daughter put stickers on it and I wrote “Bad dreams go away” on it. Before she went to bed, we would spray her room to be keep bad dreams away. It worked like a charm. For a little bit, she would wake me up and ask to spray again or under her bed or in closet. But within a week or so she had no more bad dreams.🥰

  • My baby rarely screams like she’s in pain but I remember a few times during nap or night sleep and pretty sure it was a nightmare. Nobody but time can console her, so I spoke to the pediatrician. We changed our routine a bit, including change of pjs, bed sheets and spending extra time cuddling and talking before bed time. Plus we introduce some of her favorite loveys to help her fall back asleep into the crib.

  • It's worth it to have a conversation with her pediatrician. My nephew had night terrors until age 4 and my mom told us that she used to have them. I'm no therapist but I would check with her pediatrician because Poppy may have inherited some of Josh's anxiety, at any rate, I believe most children eventually grow out of "night terrors". Good luck with that sweet little baby girl 🥰❤️

    • Anxiety doesn't usually show up though until later on in life, 10-11, or teenage years, unless the child has had some trauma. It may have just been that the sheets scared her. Little ones can get upset over things like that, and it's normal. Hope she's sleeping better. You're doing a great job, Abbey and Josh.❤❤❤Ps: Maybe one of those nightlights that have soft colors and music will help too. My little one adored his. x

    • @@Starshine_99 You may be right although Poppy may be the exception because as I said my nephew had night terrors at around age 4 but hadn't suffered a trauma... I remember when I was a child of 5 I had migraine headaches, (my dad had them also) and some folks tried to say that it couldn't be migraines because of my age, well I had a remarkable and probably ahead of his time pediatrician who said "yes although rare, some children that young do get migraines). Anyway , I hope they find a solution for that little sweetheart 🙏🏽

  • These sound very similar to the night terrors I used to have as a little girl. A little trick my parents used to use was to get me to yawn several times because it would help to completely wake me up. They would then ask me questions like my name and their names to help me calm down and get back into the “real world”. I would also recommend making sure she is cool while she sleeps. Overheating and wearing fleece/hot clothing to bed is often a trigger ❤

  • My daughter went through the same thing as Poppy. They are night terrors and they peaked when my son was 2 months old. We found that sticking to the nightly routine and getting to bed early and preventing over tiredness helped with the duration and severity of the night terrors. It lasted for about 3 months pretty much every other night. My daughters finally grew out of it. Hang in there!

He grew out of them, thankfully. I wouldn't worry unless it happens more often though. It could just be night terrors. • This kind of video affects me a lot because I had nightmares until I was 10 years old, I always felt anxious at night, it was hell. I went to see several psychologists who told my parents not to let me sleep with them because it would get worse. However, at night I was terrified I don't know why. So I slept on the floor in front of my parents' door. If I had any advice given it would really be to sleep with her when she has this kind of night to reassure her. Because I don't think that as my psychologist said, you have to leave them in their rooms without saying anything. We must reassure them as much as possible ❤️Also, what you did is awesome!! Creating an environment where she feels safe is really a good thing to do. My parents had also done that, he bought me a kind of tent (the kind of thing we put against mosquitoes) and I felt protected!! I'm sending you love hoping it gets better ❤️

I’ve never ever seen anything like it in my life, I was so scared. I couldn’t help but cry after I put him back to sleep bc he’s only 3. Still so little . What in the world could he be dreaming that bad? And I feel like it’s my fault like I haven’t protected him enough. So I really appreciate you bringing this up. His pediatrician said age 3 is when they start having bad dreams. I pray every single night with him and make sure to read him a good book too. So if anyone has any suggestions. Love you guys. No guess what it turned out to be her feet was going numb or hands from how she falls asleep and she had no idea what was going on. She would be screaming and pointing and we wasn’t understanding at all. Had nothing to do with area or things, it’s just like when our foot falls asleep or hands and it hurts well, baby doesn’t understand. Maybe try watch and see if you start massaging her foot or hands and if that may be it. Worth a shot ❤

  • Not sure how much this will help but we had a similar situation with our little girl. At the time she was also 2 and it was so hard, I’d say it was harder then when she was a new born. We are religious and found that saying prayers with her before bed helped, I also reminded her before naps and bed that the things that were scaring her were pretend and although she was feeling scared and that was true, the things she was fearing weren’t, we talked about other things that were pretend to help her understand what else wasn’t real in life but didn’t scare her. Hope that helps ❤️ and it gets better soon. 💕

  • Night terrors, two of my littles went through this and turns out it was anxiety induced. The anxiety of going to bed and being without mommy/daddy all that can absolutely mess with babies sleep😢 sleep regression is also super real, I’m not sure if that’s common with children who aren’t adhd/autistic as both my sons are & that’s where my experience is from but that was also something that happened with us. I found out answer was cosleeping them so they wasn’t alone & for my oldest, he’s takes an anxiety med at bedtime which helps him sleep & stay asleep (he’s 12 now though). Melatonin comes in handy if your dr approves. It helps them rest vs waking up at every noise & staying up which is what mine would do. It was rough as I’m a single momma, the youngest is 4 and the only time his sleep is off is like now during summer when the big kids aren’t on a set schedule so if their up late so is he. I don’t need parented about bedtimes I promise I remember how enjoyable my summers was without school bedtimes & I want my kids to have that joy too, it’s not killing me (though some days it feels that way due to my insomnia outside of kids) anyways it’ll get better momma, just be her comfort blanket and make bedtime a fun thing or “special” for a bit while she’s going through this. Definitely speak to her pediatrician, we’ve all been here though❤ bless poppy’s heart I’ll be praying for you all🫶

  • Hi Abby, my daughter is now 2.5 years old. Close to her second birthday she started having the same experience, every other night and I just couldn’t handle the sleepless nights anymore and I couldn’t figure out why the things she used to love suddenly made her so terrified, especially her usual comfort toys at night she would say “take away, I don’t like it,” screaming and crying till I did so. I started going through scenarios trying to figure it out and took to my laptop, which obviously called for some screen time so that I could keep an eye on her and then it hit me. She was watching a video about Halloween and monsters in the dark and the little kids were screaming and being portrayed as so afraid of the dark and the once cute toys were monsters, saying they are so scared, a phrase she frequently used. Keeping in mind this was a common show, think it was Gecko’s Garage and even your mainstream shows like cocomelon have similar “triggering” episodes for them. I’ve since changed the KZhead settings so that I have to authorize content for her to watch, she can’t just mindlessly have access to all the videos. Her nightmares and sudden blights of terror have stopped and things have gotten better. We obviously are also not mentioning the words “afraid of the dark” or “feeling scared” to her until she recovers from this. I hope this possibly helps in some way ❤️.

  • As a child and older kid probably until I was 12ish I had horrible night terrors where I would have my eyes wide open screaming at things obviously no one else could see. My parents legitimately thought I was demon possessed and my mum even slapped me on the face as she genuinely was so scared and tried to snap me out of it. It took us so long so figure out why I was having these horrible vivid episodes and eventually we nailed it down to over heating. We changed the duvet to just a sheet and put a fan in my room and from that day forward I never had them ever again. I’m now 25 years old and still remember those reoccurring dreams I had as a child. Night terrors are no joke so I always share what helped me get passed them. Hope poppy is sleeping well in her new sheets x

  • Hi Abby, I had night terrors till I was around ten, it was so scary and when they were really bad I would wake up or remember it in the mornings. It normally was worse on stressful days. Some tips I actually remember helping me was.. #1. Melatonin to relax my brain #2 when I was having one your parent taking you through it really slowly and explaining its ok your safe I’m right here! When you say ur right there say who you are because if her eyes are open she still can’t process who you are. #3 having a calm day #4 a snuggly buddy or pet. #5 a lot for me it felt like the bottom was falling out of the world which is so scary. Your body feels like it floating or falling to strong support is good. Or her on her bed. That’s probably why she was pointing at the sheets! I hope this helped if you could respond saying if it helped so I know that would be great! ❤ sending love and prayers

I figured out that these tended to occur more when she was over tired. I started making sure she didn't get so over tired and over stimulated and that really seemed to help. I would say the night terrors stopped by the time she was 4 but until then I had to really monitor her being over stimulated and over tired. Hope this helps! ❤

  • I work with a celebrity intuitive healer out in Vegas, all you guys need is a good old-fashioned energy healing :) from the ages of 0-7, kids are mainly affected by whatever emotions or unhealed traumas are within the parents, so if you have anxiety, your kid has anxiety, for example. You guys are bright lights and good hearted people :) I'd explore breathwork, grounding, spending time around water, nature, etc. I can see energy if you will, anxiety is a result of not knowing how to ground ourselves into us, into "you." idk why just felt like sharing!!! Sorry for the unsolicited advice, lol...

  • Maybe this will help Try some breathing exercises like anuloma veloma as a night time routine. When we breath consciousness then we are balanced - Do some exercise that will ground herself like massage her own feet, so she gets with her focus away from spinning in her head and more into her body. And maybe instead of reading a bedtime story try and let her tell you about the day and all that happened and what she remembers, so she processes all before sleep and not in her sleep. I guess it is much to process for her, a new baby brother, a new family dynamic you guys moving. For a toddler and a baby it's a lot. Good luck ❤ and @poot you are always stronger than your nightmares

  • I’m so sorry. I struggled with night terrors as a kid, it helped when my parents would cuddle with me or lay with me until I got really tired. I also recommend melatonin, that is a game changer if you want her to stay asleep. Playing white or brown noise throughout the night helps too!

    @Addj408@Addj40810 ай бұрын
    • I’m not so sure about the melatonin it can cause babies to fall into deeper sleeps and can cause even worse nightmares. We did a couple of times and she was having very bad dreams and never touched again.

  • My son has the exact same thing some nights . Hasn’t had an episode in a while .. but he’ll wake up crying but he won’t be fully awake and I have to get him to fully wake up he’s stuck in a certain point of sleep and will take hours to calm him down .. maybe look for those symptoms with poot ! See if she’s actually awake or is she acts lethargic . Cause my son all of a sudden just stops also and will wake up fully then fall back asleep good luck ❤

  • Be sure her room not too warm. Also sometimes a full belly makes for dreams. I also used to spray “scary spray be gone” before bedtime. Under bed. Closets. Fan. Lol. It was water in an old spray bottle. But it worked.

  • I have 1 year old triplets and one of my boys is constantly having night terrors, is every night but it last 5-10 minutes. Afterwards is like nothing happened. We don’t know what to do at this point we have change schedules, meals before bed, sheets everything. Nothing works, Doctor said he might outgrow it.

    @cindycastro2709@cindycastro27099 ай бұрын
  • Well night terrors can often start with big changes. Moving, hormones, change in family dynamic (new sibling), or it could be cause by environment...music, tv shows/movies, etc.

  • My daughter had night terrors from 18 months old till 2 and a half. We changed her bedtime routine. No tv hour before bed. No juice for bed just water. Take all the distractions out of the room . Make sure she isn't overly tired. But wear her out during the day. Keep a normal routine putting her to sleep and waking her up. And the same nap time everyday.

  • My daughter started doing this. Pay attention to if she does it when she has a fever! My daughter only does it when she spikes a fever. Its very scary and she never remembers anything about it in the morning. Even though she was fully "Awake". Atleast it looked like it to us.

  • Hi Abby- So my son when he was 2 1/2 starting having night terrors as well. it was horrible. Make sure you wake her up all the way and she acknowledges seeing you. So my son, I asked him after about 7 months of this if he saw something or sees something, and he said yes and pointed to the wall. I asked what he sees and he said a little boy with a hat. Sooo, yes little ones can see ghosts. I know this is out there, but yes it does happen. so we talked about him when he woke up and I asked him what the boy wore and if he was hurt etc... And after talking with my son for a couple nights, he still woke up but it wasn't as bad. needless to say after about a year, he finally was able to be fine and sleep through the night. we did get him a sound machine and that really helped too. I know it's out there but talk to her and make sure you wake her up all the way when she has these. Take Care, Wendy.

  • My 4 year old did t sleep until 2.7 yrs old. When she turned 3, she got nightmares. It was horrible. We are 4 in 1 week and she still is scared. Their imagination develops, but stick to turning on lights if it helps, sitting with kiddo, night lights, coming up with special blanket that will “protect” the kiddo. Magic it helps a bit

  • My mom use to rub me with an egg, it’s usually done in Hispanic households I believe. But basically you get an egg from the fridge let it sit out for 5 minutes so that it’s not to cold. Have poot either stand or sit on your lap. Rub her from head to praying our father. All motion going down. In a cup, preferably mason jar fill it up half way with room temp water. When you are done rubbing her crack the in the jar and cover it with foil or put a lid over it. This helped me when I was younger and still does now. This is also referred to as el ojo malo, evil eye. Hope this helps.

  • My daughter had night terrors. If she remembers them it’s nightmares if she doesn’t it’s a terror. She would just sit up and scream and cry and you think she was awake but she wasn’t. Do not wake them up. We realized if she was overly tired they would trigger. I would lay down with her and play lullaby’s and it helped calm her down to sleep peacefully again. Poppy is about the age they started with my daughter. I also use a saying. You can say it only twice a night and I used it as a kid and my daughter uses it now. Bad dreams bad dreams go away good dreams good dreams stay. It’s mentally relaxes the child to desires a and feel that they will be safe while sleeping.

  • If the night terrors continue, hope they don't, but as a Sleep Tech we have had parents try this method and it has worked. See what time the terrors are happening if its always around 1a, quietly go in her room and gently wake her up at 1245. This will kick her out of her deep sleep and let's her start her sleep cycle over. Do this for 2 weeks in a row. Hope this helps!
